Mort made far too much sense, and Vi could only wrinkle his nose in return at the reminder that his herald (who infuriated him, who had angered him and disappointed him and whom he loved so dearly) was exactly how he had made her. Sighing into the caresses and letting his grip tighten around the smaller god, he tilted his head to bury his nose in the soft curls tucked against his chest.

Mort left and Vi was left alone on the banks of the Stonesong. The water soothed him with its melody, and two stars twinkled high above.
