This scar I can't reverse, when the more it heals the worse it hurts
Smiling sadly, Remi can only nod, before he pauses. "I wonder..." He murmurs softly to himself, frowning. If Mort had been able to bring Enzo to him...why not Aoife? Surely Safrin's meddling wouldn't prevent such a thing from happening? Shaking his head with a slight cough as if to distract Mateo, Remi makes a mental note to mention his idea when he saw Ludo next.

"Or to the Mountains? If you let us know when you are coming, we could meet you and escort you in." It would take both he and Ronin to ensure Mateo made it in safely, but what of it? "Then again, perhaps we could come down and meet you more often as well." The Lullaby adds with a slightly apologetic smile. It shouldn't take murder in order to bring the Lullaby down to Stormbreak to visit his son, yet the fact that it had was reason enough for Remi to rethink his stance on never leaving the Cordillera.

"Or...we could all go adventuring?" He suggests hopefully.

Mateo

Glancing up at his father's wonderings, Mateo knows the Lullaby well enough in adulthood to know, at least, when not to bother prying, and he's already kicking off his shoes and tucking his feet beneath him on the other side of the couch, reaching across to snag his mug of tea. Inhaling the fragrant steam, his eyebrows raise at Remi's suggestion, and the lopsided smile that curls across his lips is all Ronin, for once.

"Do you mean it?" he asks, trying not to sound too enthusiastic, because when it comes to his family, things are rarely that straightforward. They could make all of the plans in the world, and out of nowhere it's guaranteed that a war or a plague or a curse will come and interrupt it. "I would really enjoy all of that. I have missed you both."

"Of course." Remi says with an immediate nod of his head, finding that he absolutely did mean it. "There are plenty of interesting things to find in the Cordilerra, and though I am sure your shop already carries the sorts of plants that are hard to come by, what you bring back from the mountains will really set you apart."

As for adventuring? Shooting his son a crooked smile and seeing all too clearly the man he loved above all else in Mateo's expression, Remi can only nod once more. "You have certainly grown, but you are not too big for me to carry you." He says with a grin, before glancing around the little schooner. "That is assuming you would not want to risk bringing her along." Reaching out to touch a bit of the wall panelling, Remi can see just as clearly as if it had been the day before, he and Mateo fitting boards together, angling the joints, and daydreaming together about the adventures they would take.

Remi was late in fulfilling that particular promise, but just lately he'd realized that immortality did not in fact mean he had all the time in the world, and he meant to make up for all that he'd wasted.
