Basic Information
Character Information
AppearanceShe dresses like a noble (practicalities be damned) and is very concerned with her appearance; while not vain, exactly, she endeavours to appear powerful and any flaws in that facade irritate her. Clothes maketh the man or, in her case, the swamp witch. PersonalityDespite being amiable enough, Sorrel is prone to deflecting anything remotely approaching a human emotion. She beats back any doubts and fears like a wild animal - especially feelings about this new world she finds herself in. Sorrel treats romance/desire much the same way, though whether this is due to genuine fear of intimacy or just another quirk is yet to be seen. She has a tendency to be blindsided when she develops actual feelings for a person (platonic or otherwise) and isn’t exactly a shining example of great mental and emotional health. Sorrel is still largely illiterate and, due to her lack of formal training, is somewhat insecure about being ‘shown up’ by those more educated than her. Her skill with herbs came from her parents, and her own knowledge about producing actual functioning medicines from these were the result of much trial and error. She is, however, about as likely to admit this as she is to give up her love of silk robes. On the whole she comes across as friendly, if eccentric, and enjoys similar idiosyncrasy in her companions - taking an instant dislike to the pretentious (ironically) and the needlessly cruel. Coming from a large family bred in her a tendency towards clannish loyalty, and once she decides she likes someone they Are Her Friend, whether they like it or not, and are treated as such. HistoryBeing raised in an isolated, woodland cottage, Sorrel ventured into local villages out of curiosity. Her first foray into the more populated places of her homeworld impressed on her the importance of appearance, and she was particularly taken with the fancy, impractical dress of the noble elite; she loves fine clothing and treats it as an indulgence, presenting herself to patients alternately as a witch or mystical healer with the help of floaty robes and impressive jewellery. Sorrel was transported to Caido with spotty memory of her homeworld, but mostly intact memories of her own history. Shortly before she was transported, she was working on...something. She can’t quite remember what. And then, suddenly, she was elsewhere - a world with new plants, weird magic, and, apparently, the mechanics for her to turn into a magpie. The former are a challenge she intends to meet, the latter she considers more of a cheeky bonus. Her first priority is to get her bearings, get some shelter, and start work on learning about this world’s opportunities for Half A Charlatan to make a living. OtherHer animal shift form is a european magpie. This is in no way symbolic of Sorrel's true nature. Sorrel comes from a world without gods or a concept of them. She is not gonna have a good time in a land that has very real and present ones. A rough estimate of this character's damage potential is as follows:
