Appearance
Her skin is as pale as a winter sky, flushed pink by the cold northerly winds. She is crowned by long black locks of hair, often done into braids. Hazel eyes peer out from below a heavy brow, smudged with charcoal more often than not. She is tall (for her lineage) and lanky and fit, perhaps even boyish, and she displays every inch of herself like a brandished weapon. Though not an exceptionally beautiful woman, Vraska is not unsightly. She has a rectangular face with a pronounced jawline and plump lips. She prefers to wear leather armor lined w fur and a cape of wolf fur which her mother made for her.

Personality
Vraska is winter incarnate, sculpted from the sharp and chiseled stone of snowswept mountains. She is a marriage of wind and earth and ice, with a gaze that should freeze near anything it is set upon. Tall and rigid and boyish, the woman is every bit as brusque as the northerly wind yet as quiet as snowfall. Some may find her bashful, unfriendly, and neither would be mistaken. Her brow is bent into a perpetual scowl that wards away most newcomers and she wears it like armor. To her enemies she is as a cruel as frostbite. It would be unwise to underestimate the might of such a woman, likened to the winds that tousle mountain peaks and shape them to their whim - a force of nature in her own right. Those few who call her 'friend' paint a very different picture of Vraska, who know the warmth of her laughter and the fierceness of her love, but such things are rare indeed these days.
History
Vraska Deadwind was born and reared up in the lands of "Always Winter" - at least that's what they were known as by the outsiders to the south. To Vraska, it was home: the hinterlands outside of the trade city Jardis, where her father owned a wide swath of land and raised horses for a living. It was a modest, though respectable charge. The Deadwind horses gained quite a reputation as fine chargers and work horses, characterized by their soundness, solid of bone and hardy of spirit. Many of the horses Vraska trained were sold off to important knights and cavalrymen. She learned to not grow especially attached, though she gained a special love for horses for her lifetime of working with them.
Of course, she made an exception for the filly her father gave her when she was a girl, old enough to train her own horse. "As black as a crow - nay, as black as the hair on Vraska's head!" her father proclaimed when the filly was born. It was only fitting that he give the mare to Vraska and teach her proper horsemanship.
Her family name, Deadwind, comes from her families reputation as talented archers and hunters. She was taught the family trade well enough, and would take long trips of solitude into the mountains to hunt elk once she came of age. Her favorite times were spent in the wilderness with Crow.
At some point her father fell to illness. When he died, her mother sold off the rest of the horses without telling Vraska, including her mare, Crow. Infuriated, she left home and made a point of tracking down her beloved mare, without any such luck. Instead she stole a palfrey from the royal stables and made it quite a ways into the mountains before the mare misstep and broke a leg.
And that's when she awoke in a strange land.
