Appearance
Firm. That would be the single word you'd describe him as. Firm features, firm gaze, firm build. Clearly not being used to any sort of life of luxury, and comes from a working background, he comes across as oddly neat in many areas of his physical appearance, always sporting trimmed, short dark hair hair as well as a freshly shaven face, having at most light stubble on any given day as well and various outfits which always seem to sport green in some shape or form and aren't too ill fitting or overly formal.
His other distinguishing feature and one that manages to shine through his otherwise dim and dour demeanor are his eyes, each one a different colour. The right being a mud brown while the left almost glistens with watery blue hues.
Heavily scarred, and burnt across a lot of his body suggests a life not exactly peaceful, and given his history it's not exactly surprising, but he puts up with it well enough, even going as far as to say it adds 'character'.
Personality
Gruff, rude and bitter. He's not exactly someone you'd want to be best friends with. Always scowling or sneering. He is argumentative, short tempered and cold in many ways, but he's also loyal to a fault, principled, willing to go above and beyond any who he considers a friend... though admittedly that's perhaps not many and will never be.
He's a man of many personality flaws and failings, but like most likely, he has good points as well.
History
Born in the slums, raised by parents who neither wanted or cared for him, Eli grew up as the bully, he spent most of his teenage years and very early twenties, stealing, fighting and hurting anyone that he perceived to get in the way.
It's not a pretty background, or a nice one. But it's all he's got.
