Basic Information
Character Information
AppearanceHis black hair is kept at shoulder length, bearing soft waves that threaten to turn to curls if not brushed after getting them wet. More often than not, his hair is pulled back from his face, leaving his scar bare, choosing to adorn his locks with decorative clips and pins. Bear has a tendency to wear a more serious expression when not actively interacting with someone and is more expressive in his mouth than in his eye, being quick to flash a smile or a laugh. Favoring delicate jewelry and slim fitting clothing, it is not uncommon to see Bear go barefoot, reflecting his former days as a slave. PersonalityPreferring the softer things in life now that he has become accustomed to them, Bear dislikes like on the road, often choosing to sleep in inns wherever possible, and avoiding setting up camp. He is typically neat as a pin and bathes frequently, every last detail of his appearance is down to a science. Bear is rather confused of his new human form, having spent his entire life in the form of a tiger/human hybrid before passing through the portal, though he is making the best of it. There are still hallmarks of this feline left behind in the way that he moves and in his customs. Thankful that is still at least able to shift into a full tiger, it will never be the same as the life, and body, he once had. Despite having such a rough beginning, he pines for home, and attempts to hide his sentimentality in such things, as he views Caido as a world of new opportunities to escape the past. Often the life of the party, Bear shines when in the company of other. Quick to laugh and smile, he goes out of his way to make other feels comfortable, providing them drinks when he can. Having a high tolerance for alcohol himself, a trait gained over many long years of drinking, he often hides the fact that he is sober as those who are intoxicated and happy are the ones most likely to talk. While he will take most anyone to his bed, it is not without the expectation of a favor owed or information gained. His past has not left him without damage, though. Often flinching at raised voices when directed at him, he shies away from physical violence whenever possible. This is not to say that he wouldn't defend himself if there was no way out. Preferring the use of poisons and daggers as his weapons of choice, Bear prefers to employ others to do his dirty work for him if needed. HistorySeeing their reason in this, Bear was taught to entertain, read, write, and properly dance. These expenses only served to add to the mounting debt that his owner had accumulated to obtain him. Despite being a quick study, and despite the large sums coming in from his time spent with such clients, it was not enough to turn the books from red to black. Impatient that his hefty price tag had not been paid 5 years after his purchase, a hit was placed out on the man who owned Bear. And on the night the assassin came to complete her duty, Bear was ordered between the blade and his owner. Having no choice but to obey, Bear did what he could but was easily knocked aside, though not before the painful slice of the blade that cost him his left eye. The hit completed, Bear was left in a quandary. The assassin was supposed to return him to those who had originally sold him, but felt guilty about the pain and suffering she had caused to an innocent man. Feeling like she now owed him a debt due to her strict moral code, the assassin (Smoke) instead bought and freed Bear with the money she had earned for the hit. Teaching him what she could about survival, he learned the art of poisons and daggers which he seemed to have a proficiency for. But without other life skills, Bear soon found himself back to the life he had led. As a free man now, he was able to keep the large sums of gold, jewels, and trinkets that he earned selling his talents and his body. Able to afford a comfortable home and lifestyle, and as he was treated well by those who bought his time, Bear never sought another way to live. He was one of the lucky ones. Able to travel for leisure as well as business, Bear soon found himself in the company of more and more important people, and soon, gold and jewels were not enough to pay him. Dealing in favor and secrets now, Bear built an empire of information and blackmail, securing his comfortable place at the feet of such important men and woman for a long time. It was on one such travels, that Bear found a portal. Curious as ever to what it was, he crossed through it and found himself in a land unfamiliar to him, which he now knows to be the Greatwood. Carrying his bags of clothing and others things he deemed as "essential" (grooming combs and brushes, a wooden flute, etc), but lacking other actually essential items, Bear was in no way ready to face the wilderness alone. Much less in skin that he was so unfamiliar with... OtherA rough estimate of this character's damage potential is as follows:
