AppearancePersonalityThe middle child who acts more like an oldest, due to Quanil's flightier nature. Freina has become the bane of merchants everywhere because she knows how to haggle and isn't shy about doing so. She's never accepted a price right out the gate, and she's never settled for second best. She's known her whole life that her older sibling would leave at some point for adventure and exploration (or just to get out from under her parents' thumbs) and she prepared herself for the inevitable. She's always felt sure-footed and steady; even the constant threat of landsharks and the Long Night couldn't shake her. Nothing could... until she learned the truth of herself. Now she's on uncertain footing for the first time ever. She's more afraid now than she's ever, ever been, and she doesn't know how to feel safe again, or if she even can. HistoryFreina is Quanil's younger sister; they also have a younger brother, Kedran. She's always loved listening to her older sibling tell or read stories, but thought of them as just that: stories. She enjoyed them as entertainment and then went back to the business of living. She's everything her parents wanted Quanil to be, and, as such, she got the lion's share of attention and praise from her parents. She knew that Quanil would leave one day, and so she expected that she'd inherit the family home eventually, that she'd look after her ailing parents in their dotage, that she'd look after Kedran, too. That was the role she was going to have, and she was fine with it. Marry someone, have kids, continue the family. She wanted that, wants it still in some ways. But then the Fiat Lux Festival of 310 happened. While fleeing from the ice shards, she felt something new well up within her, something that competed with the terror thudding through her veins. She turned and, with a puff of air, deflected an ice shard that would have pierced her heart. It hit her shoulder instead, slicing skin open to draw blood, but she was alive... and she was Abandoned. She ran away from her family instead of with them, ran away from the other survivors because she couldn't stand to face them. She can't even stand to say the word "Abandoned," as if it would only become real when voiced. Her family were never especially religious, but everyone knows it's the Abandoneds' fault that the Barrier came down on them! And to think that she's... one of them... She eventually hid in the Labyrinth, which, for some reason, accepted her and let her in. Perhaps labyrinths welcome monsters like she's become. She used to love her sibling's stories; she never thought she'd have anything but a happy ending. She never thought she'd be the damsel in distress and that the monster she needed to be rescued from was herself. OtherA rough estimate of this character's damage potential is as follows:
