Character Information
Appearance
Overtly feminine with sensuality ingrained not only by upbringing but also by genetics, Ghalia has a slim build with curves gracefully arcing from her neck and chest to her waist. Slender arms and legs give beguiling beauty, but lack any true strength. Sharp cheekbones are softened by full lips and large eyes- though her bright green stare is anything but coy. A strong nose is artfully placed on her face, giving her a classic (if somewhat exotic) beauty. Thick, curly hair is as untamed as her fierce gaze, belying her intensity hidden beneath the seemingly feminine wiles of her body.
Personality
Born to a high-dollar whore and raised by wet-nurses to be a chameleon for her many different suitors of the night, the young woman’s innate penchant for a sharp tongue and fiery temper were suppressed at a young age. However, they did simmer beneath the surface of her smiling lips and fluttering lashes—a challenge that many rich merchants sought to conquer in their purchase of her evening affections. Her inner fire occasional shone through her harlot-trained upbringing, leaving deep fingernail scratches or a fat lip from a particularly deep bite with those men who paid for her attentions. It earned her a reputation throughout Uumalah (a city of pleasure, greed, and corruption), uncurbed by the fearful warning of her prostitute peers or the ominous, distant disapproval of the Father. However, her beauty and allure was so great that she never was without clients for the night. After all, who does not want to a taste of a partly-tamed woman?
HistoryUumalah (before Caido)
Ghalia’s (a woman of many names) was born in Uumalah, an Oasis City of pleasure and luxury run by the Father, an ominously powerful man. Her birth was undesired—the Father thought it was not yet time for her mother’s lucrative evenings to be placed on hold to birth a child. However, in Uumalah, this was a relatively common occurrence, as rarely were the women allowed rest, despite their cycles. And the moment she was born, any regret at her birth was erased. The Father knew, even as a young child, that she would be beautiful and successful for him in his houses. So he named her “Ghalia,” or ‘expense’, for the money she was sure to bring him when she came of age.
However, as she grew beneath the care of her wet-nurses, she showed as much fire in her spirit as there was in her intense stare. She was unwilling to heed the teachings of her nurses, her spirit unable to bend to their warnings. If she was to grow to be a Mahzia (high-end prostitute), then she must give coy smiles and inviting glances. Intense, fierce glares would not gain her the company of merchants (nor their gold for the Father’s coffers). However, the you girl resisted these teachings, and so earned the name “Zohra,” or ‘glare’. As she grew long of leg and svelte of figure, her ‘sisters’ with the wet-nurses began to grow jealous—save for a few. And to these few, close friends she chose her own name: “Chams.” It was a male’s name meaning ‘sun.’ Though blasphemous to give a woman such a masculine name, the fiery youth did not care—this was one thing she could choose for herself. Though she did grow careful with it when it earned her close childhood friend lashes of the wet-nurses’ rod. When she came of ‘breaking age,’ her first night was sold for the second-highest price in the history of Uumalah, lesser only the the infamous massacre-ess of Uumalah (but that's another story). The man was Tarek, a ridiculously rich merchant, and he was gentle and kind to Ghalia—or as gentle and kind as a rich merchant drunk on heavy wine may be. He returned a few nights thereafter, though never again took her as he had on her breaking night, and then the rich merchant disappeared. Ghalia then submitted to many different men of all proclivities—though being in the high-class houses as a Mahzia, she was protected from abuse and the more sordid preferences. So she lived her evenings, her inner fire slowly extinguishing as it could not illuminate the perpetual night she lived in. Until the very same rich merchant from her breaking night returned — returned agitated and driven (and, arguably, crazed). The man took Ghalia for the night, but shoved he through a mirror in the most lavish room the the whorehouse had… and so Ghalia found herself in Caido. Caido
