His eyes are the deep, unfathomable hue of a glacier - in some lights they appear light and pure, blue and bright; other times they are dark and troubled, filled with unknown depths and indigo dreams. His hair is dark and thick, his chin and jawline often patterned with the shadow of newly grown beard. A kind smile often graces the full lips that are quick to laugh a deep chuckle that resonates through his long and lanky frame. Chulane stands reasonably tall, and still being young, he has quite a bit to fill out when it comes to muscle mass and strength, but life on Halo encourages this, and he steadily grows fitter and stronger the more time he spends here. He speaks with an Australian accent.

Chulane is an empath by nature, usually able to read the body language and tones of others, but more than that, he takes on their emotional burdens as his own, leaving little room for his own emotional state to stabilise or mature. He is kind and friendly, always seeking to draw a laugh or a smile from those he interacts with, hating that he might be the cause of unhappiness or unease in another and so doing everything he can to accommodate them.

He is an expert in compartmentalising his emotions, in locking them away with the intentions of dealing with them later, only 'later' rarely comes. As such, he comes across as quite a steady individual, and for the most part, he actually is. It is only when he has denied himself an emotional outlet for an extended period that he breaks, overwhelmed by the pressure, but unsure of how to deal with it otherwise.

He is a man of science and logic, and seeks to know everything about everything. Books are a treasure to him, and he writes notes until his hand cramps, and then writes more notes anyway. He is a truth-teller and truth-seeker, and while he might attempt to soften the blow of a hard truth, he would never go so far as to tell a lie intentionally.

Born and raised on a farm in the lush Victorian floodplains of Australia, Chuy's parents were farmers, growing crops and meat for the southern nation. His mother was also a veterinarian, having moved from the large metropolitan city of Melbourne to be with her now-husband. Chulane was a blend of both - he knew how to work the land, and he also had an excellent aptitude for the sciences, and pursued a career in veterinary science after he completed high school at the age of 13.

Now, the year is 2018, the planet: Earth. It is December, and a young veterinarian is halfway through an epic expedition to the Antarctic region, surveying the wildlife and learning all he can. He is younger than the other veterinarians present, he was put through an accelerated learning program, acing most of his classes and earning his place on the expedition. While he wasn't the lead scientist, he was thrilled to have the opportunity and expand his knowledge in arguably the toughest place on Earth a human can possibly live.

It was to be the biggest challenge of his life - or so he thought.

Chu was camping on the icy plains with his small troop of scientists, and he poked his head outside his tent to look at the aurora australis - they were putting on quite a show, and kept stretching out closer and closer to him - it was like he was standing amongst the lights themselves. And then..
