Appearance
Solid, stocky frame. Shaped by the years of hard labor. Several tattoos stain his body, telling many stories of a life he once knew, and a life he hopes to build. One peculiarity from his change are bi-colored eyes. His right eye is Dark Brown, left eye Hazel-Green.
Personality
Devrum speaks in a calculated manor. Much like his movements, his words are never wasted and have purpose. He possesses a quiet intensity that both garners him respect and intimidation amongst his peers. Few are tempted to bait his temper, despite his silent outward demeanor, his temper is well known to never be summoned. He enjoys his work, despite his position he prides himself in working among those he overseas instead of embracing his higher position. There is reward in labor, the simpler life now serves several purposes for Devrum. It is indeed a living, but the peace it offers keeps his other desires at bay.
History
Devrum was born of common mother and father. It was a life of modesty, of earning to live each and every day. For as long as he could remember, Devrum knew only the farm life in his earliest years. It was a quiet life, but one of hard work where he was taught to never take any moment for granted.
There was a time, though most find it hard to believe now, that Devrum was once a weakling child. A muscular condition left his bones and muscles frail with little endurance for labor. As time passed, and labors became more intense he found himself less able to pull his weight within his family. When his father was taken by a fever, Devrum volunteered his body as a Shapechanger at the age of 18yrs, to inherit strength to provide for his mother. It was a noble cause, the power he sought...and it was a noble creature in which he would inherit. Devrum inherited a Black Bear. A creature of massive strength and majesty.
Nearly immediate results could be seen. His once frail body filled out more and more with every passing day and his strength, once in question was heralded amongst his peers.
Devrum was selected into the first wave of settlers because of his knowledge and skill in agriculture, as his family has supplied the kingdom with crops for as long as he could remember. It was a subtle honor having done so for so long. It would also be foolish not to believe it was for his exceptional strength and work ethic as well. He expected the best from those who worked beneath him, though he never treated them as such. Devrum held no qualms of plunging into the filth and dirt just as others had. It was therapeutic, to feel the strain in his muscles as he had in his youth.
Despite his somewhat intimidating demeanor, Devrum is deathly shy in large social gatherings, which is why he prefers working even when others call their day to an end.
On the occasion an unfortunate soul summons his temper to strike...well, it is said Devrum in a seldom rage dismantled a tavern from the inside with the bodies of six men who thought him a cheat and had threatened his being. Wasn't death that found them that evening, but a creature that made them pray for it.
Few tempt the fate of those unfortunate few, but most have had no reason to ever do so.
Devrum possesses a quiet integrity and treats those of all social standing in equal fashion. While not much for hobbies, he fancies beer and ale of all kinds especially the darker brews known for winter.
