Despite the habit, he was an attractive man that romanced many and so found himself forced to care for the hungry mouths that had come as a result. He was also a practical man with a flexible morality (or a distinct lack thereof when in his cups) and it was not long before the man had devised ways to generate profit from his ill-begotten offspring. Children were in high demand for certain tasks and made for excellent beggars; together the Iosu family scraped together enough for their father to drink himself to death upon. With few options left to them and no ties keeping them together but a dead man whom they each hated, the Iosu children mostly scattered. Zamara found herself left to her own devices but with a desperate need for new shelter, so she began reaching out to those shady folk her father had sometimes dealt with. It was not long before she was snatched up by one of the many casinos littering Haulani's dockside. With no other skills to speak of, Zamara had little choice but to do what was directed to her and take what was offered in return. It was a difficult transition. The growing girl was taught many lessons about how ruthless some can be and might have perished if not for her newly found passion: dancing. Agile from her scrappy youth, Zamara took to the art with an all-consuming passion that was refined through instruction funded by a profit-obsessed boss. She became an investment that paid off greatly when a talent for magic suddenly burgeoned in the middle of a dance as illusory lights streamed from her and shocked both her and her audience. Soon, she was ordered to use this gift in her performances in the hopes of raking in even greater riches. As the years passed and her talents grew, Zamara began to wonder what life might be like outside of Haulani. She was now a cunning young woman with a growing grasp on illusion magic and figured that she could survive well enough on her own, so one moonless night she stole out of the casino that had been her home and left Haulani behind to seek her new life.
