Born in the Hollowed Grounds, Sohalia had as idyllic a childhood as one could have. She had two loving parents who treated her with great kindness and provided her with the support she needed to grow. However, they died when she was still quite young, and she was subsequently taken in by an older person who had never had children. Though grouchy at times, Sohalia's guardian, Auden, was kind and gentle. Unfortunately, they, too, died shortly before Sohalia turned 18. After their death, Sohalia decided that she could no longer stay in a place with so many sad memories and struck out on her own. She prayed to Mort and became Attuned before leaving home.

After being kidnapped by Dorian, the Family rose to power in Stormbreak. Once their coup was complete, Sohalia was released from captivity and promptly fled the region, ashamed and fearful, to find herself in the Greatwood, where she had fond memories of the past. While she hoped to make a plan and return to Stormbreak, this was not to be; she became very ill due to the Void flora and was incapacitated for several months. She was nursed back to health by a helpful Fae inhabitant of the Greatwood, but having spent months either delirious or unconscious, she returned to Caido at large with no idea how much time had passed or what had happened in her absence.
