RE: more bright ideas - Deimos - 02-07-2026

The agreement came soon enough, and the launched semblances towards the youths worked heavily in their favor. Between the shrieking, screeching, and coordinated efforts, Sohalia managed to snag at one of them, before everyone dispersed again.

For half a moment, while he plotted, Deimos was once more regretful Ancients didn’t harbor the same Attuned affectations, at least, when it came to speaking across the bond. He’d be tempted to goad the newest crowned ‘It’ with a new plan. Instead, he’d have to drum up alternatives, and never quite free from calculated stands (no matter the occasion), he churned around the fire, stick in his mouth, to see if he could indicate the notions to the child.

Trying to get the youth’s attention was difficult as it was; and he settled for a sharp bark. Figuring that might tip off Sohalia, nonetheless, he tilted his head in her direction, before the child seemed to understand, rounding back through the bonfire as Deimos tore off to give chase to the tide jaguar.

This was so bizarre. Soh's shifts did not lend themselves to playing with children, nor had she had the opportunity to try it anyway, and so to be engaged in a strange game of tag with a bunch of Ancient kids and a hellhound was something that, later, she would consider to be quite mad, indeed. But for now, she was having fun, and given that that was in short supply these days, she was more than happy to continue to enjoy herself for as long as the game lasted.

A sharp bark caught Soh's attention, but given that she was bounding away into the throng of children, she wasn't sure where Deimos was and, therefore, missed the nod in her direction. She rounded the bonfire to see a child with a stick coming straight for her. Pivoting sharply, she nearly ran into Deimos, who had circled around the other way. With a silent shriek of laughter, she tried to escape and failed; who had tagged her in the end, she wasn't sure, but she was 'it' once more.

Given how many games, amusements, and ridiculous situations Deimos unfurled and unleashed upon his citizens, this was just another day, another series of moments, rolled into not being filled with apprehension, war, or trepidation. Later he’d be off searching for Ru again, striving to find common grounds or unraveling enigmas from a host of things he couldn’t possibly overcome on his own; but for now, they had entertainment, diversions, from the hells that life seared and brought.

The act had worked, all in all, and he wore a very canine smirk as both of them fired their attempts towards Sohalia. Presuming the child had gotten her, he whirled around within a moment, long strides and limbs carrying him in quick haste back the way he’d arrived, granting a triumphant bark to the fellow perpetrator as they all scattered once more.

The game went on, but Soh was growing tired; her movements were becoming sluggish, and she panted around the fiery stick clasped in her jaws as she fought to keep moving. In the end, she dashed after one last batch of kids and, upon tagging one, collapsed dramatically onto the ground, flopping over onto her side and watching the children take up the game amongst themselves. [say]I think I'm dying,[/say] she groaned. [say]How do they have so much energy?[/say]

Several of the younger children, who themselves were growing tired, meandered her way, and within moments, she was swarmed by a small group who seemed to think that she was a new jungle gym just for them. Snorting out a sigh, Soh rolled carefully onto her back, batting halfheartedly at the little girl who climbed onto her stomach. [say]Is Erebos like this?[/say] she wondered, tilting her head to find where Deimos had gotten to. [say]How in Caido do you manage?[/say]

RE: more bright ideas - Deimos - 02-12-2026

Deimos, full of endurance and fortitude from years upon years of building his perseverance, flicked an ear as Sohalia seemed to crumble. Snorting lightly at her exclaim, he continued to dash along, emboldening the remaining youth to scatter, pretending to stalk them in his nonchalant movements from around the bonfire.

Glancing over moments later found the tiger swarmed by the more haggard and tired individuals, and he had to laugh, rumbling through the canine shift. [say]Constantly. He is on the go from when he wakes up to when he falls asleep.[/say] Half-hoping Erebos hadn’t inherited his father’s proclivity towards restlessness, needing to do something all the time and not knowing what leisure was, he ventured it was more of an energetic, curious, and inquiring youth dilemma. [say]I keep him busy either with me, schoolwork, or running errands. And keeping him active. Makes for very pleasant evenings,[/say] when the crash inevitably came and the lad sprawled himself across the couch or in his bed, out like a light. Eventually the youth would probably half the same amount of stamina, but that was a problem for the future.

The children continued to climb over and around her, despite her halfhearted, grumbling protests and gentle prodding with a large paw. The one perched upon her chest seemed to relish in her position, and it quickly became a game to see who could claim the highest spot. Tiring quickly of this new game, Soh rolled carefully back onto her stomach, if only to keep the children from kneeing her in the belly every time one tried to claim the throne.

Much more comfortable with them climbing upon her back, Soh watched as Deimos continued his game with the stronger children. [say]I don't know how you do it,[/say] she admitted wearily. [say]I could never.[/say] A half-truth, of course; even at the tender age of 22, and having never considered parenthood beyond a brief hope for someday, Sohalia knew that one did what one must to take care of one's children.

RE: more bright ideas - Deimos - 02-13-2026

[say]You could growl at them[/say], he offered with a canine shrug and roll of his shoulders; though he half-wondered if any dangerous appeal had been left by the wayside, given how much they’d already played games with the youngsters. Dashing after another set of the older children, they reeled away and emerged on the other side of the bonfire again, and he gave chase while Sohalia rested, content to pursue and persist. [say]You figure things out[/say] he offered in response, because truthfully, there wasn’t any other way. There were sacrifices made, and more than once he'd known he was pulling himself into too many different directions simultaneously; from duty to family to protection of Halo and Caido itself, especially during the war-torn seasons.

Turning back with a vague smile, and then taking long strides after the squealing youths, he added in the information that would be spreading slowly outwards eventually anyway. [say]Evie is expecting another in Leafchange.[/say] Pausing, he flicked an ear, going still and pretending to not notice some of the littles scrambling about the brush. [say]I like to think all the efforts we have put in over the years have made it worth it.[/say] The peace, the prosperity, after all of the endless suffering. That there could be a time for regrowth.

RE: more bright ideas - Sohalia - 02-13-2026

Sohalia was not going to growl at the precious children, thank you very much, not when all they wanted was to play. Although as one stepped on her tail and she jumped, she began to second-guess that decision. Maybe it was time to get back in the game.

But before she could move, Deimos announced that Evie was pregnant, and surprised excitement rang through the Attuned bond. [say]Oh, but that's wonderful![/say] she squealed. [say]Congratulations! Do you know if it will be a boy or a girl yet?[/say] Of course, all of their efforts to protect Caido - none more so than Deimos - would be well worth it if it meant protecting the next generation. Maybe that was what she should focus on - the lives that could be saved and the paths those individuals would follow.

Carefully, the tide jaguar got to her feet, flicking her tail to rid it of any lingering soreness from being stepped on. Then she extracted herself from the pile of children and bounded back into the game.

Purposefully lunging at a child who hadn’t noticed him closing in, he gave them the opportunity to dash away with another squeal and scream combination, brandishing his flaming stick with continued ease. When another rambled through the brush, he did the same, laugh rumbling through his chest as he continued to pursue at a normal pace, unbothered in actually tagging the youths now, so much as running and herding them around simply because he could.

Her congratulations funneled through too though, and he flicked an ear back in her direction, the residual amusement and contentment in the proceedings on his canine-embedded smile. [say]Thank you.[/say] As for the gender, he shrugged; neither he nor Evie had ever been terribly pressed or fervent on boys and girls. [say]No. We prefer the surprise,[/say] which had certainly come with Erebos’ entrance into the world – given they hadn’t even known until a season or so prior. They had a little more time on this interim; but still much to do when he returned home.

RE: more bright ideas - Sohalia - 02-24-2026

Such exciting news was welcome indeed, particularly given the bad news that had brought Sohalia so far from home. She made no secret of her joy, sharing her happiness for Deimos and Evie through the Attuned bond without hesitation. [say]Surprises are fun,[/say] she commented, already envisioning what the future child might be like. It made her wonder what Deimos had been like as a child - and whether his children would give it back to him tenfold, as people always seemed to claim that children did.

[say]If there is anything I can do, or send you, please let me know,[/say] she said as she bounded back into the fray, only to be tagged by a passing child. Taking the flaming stick from him, she watched as they all scattered, shrieking. [say]Do you know when they are due?[/say] She dropped into a stalking stance, eliciting a bout of further laughter from the gathered children as she began to creep towards a few who had their attention firmly on Deimos.

RE: more bright ideas - Deimos - 02-25-2026

Deimos had been a particularly naughty child amongst a horde of heathen youths along the Moonlit Tides. But he’d minded his parents, to an extent, revered them for what they were, and had learned, grown, under a wondrous sun and beside the ocean; where all sorts of wild factions could roam as they pleased. Until, eventually, childhood ripped away with pinnacles of war – stripped and peeled and carved into something else entirely. And while he still fought those battles, it was to ensure the greater expanse of Caido didn’t have to suffer, including his and Evie’s own progeny making their way through this earth. [say]Agreed[/say], he noted, chasing down one child and tagging them with the flaming stick; wheeling around soon after.

Sohalia’s offering was nice; but given their experiences and already adjusting schedules, figuring out other means and needs, they were fine for the moment. [say]Thank you.[/say] Dodging back over to the fire and stretching out his long limbs, his claws extended into the dirt, traipsing further amidst the ashes. [say]Leafchange. So we have a little time.[/say]

And eventually, so too would the game end – and they’d have to hasten off to their other duties; searching for friends or piecing together the means of resurgence and regeneration under a threat of a falling city.
