THE SPREAD

Asra, a seasoned adventurer, had heard tales of strange happenings in the Oerwoud wanted to confirm them for herself. She navigated the jungle with confidence, her steps light and sure on the familiar paths. But as she ventured deeper, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. The usual sounds of the jungle—bird calls, rustling leaves, chattering insects—had fallen eerily silent.

Pushing through a thick curtain of vines, Asra stumbled upon a small clearing. At first glance, it appeared empty, but movement at the edge of her vision made her freeze. Shadows seemed to writhe and coil around the base of a massive tree. As she took a cautious step forward, the shadows resolved into a nightmarish sight: newly hatched void creatures, their forms a grotesque parody of the jungle's natural inhabitants, eyes gleaming with malevolent hunger.

Asra's heart pounded in her chest as she slowly backed away, hoping to escape unnoticed. But the creatures, drawn by the scent of fresh prey, moved with alarming speed. Before she could react, they were upon her, their razor-sharp fangs and claws tearing into her flesh. Her scream echoed briefly through the jungle, but there was no one to hear it.
