The young woman did so, carefully aligning it so that it was perfectly upright and then moving her fingers out of the way of the hammer and nails. All she needed was for the captain to smash her fingers. She'd never live it down back home if she returned with an injury from a hammer, of all things - although, to be fair, there were stranger things to be hit by.
