Isla
to share the space with simple living things, infinitely suffering
"I don't imagine he was a willing participant," Isla says with a wince, not that she particularly wants to think about it either way. They might not have been even close to together at the time, but it doesn't make it any easier on the imagination. Still, as Remi brings their hands to his lips and his relief leaks out and floods through her, the Remedy can't help but find herself smiling as well, nodding to her friend.
"I wouldn't expect you to promise that, because we both know you'd make a liar of yourself," she says with a gentle nudge. "I know I won't need to given who you are and what you can do, but I'll still send letters. Let you know where I'm headed and all that." Sighing, she can't deny that leaving the tropics to venture out into the proper Deepfrost weather doesn't fill her with dread, but there are much worse things going on in the world. As they both well know.
"Thank you." Though it would be a lie to say that the plan drags the last of the tension from her shoulders, Isla is nonetheless much more composed than when she arrived. "Thank you so much, Remi. I suppose I'd better go and get my things together, if I'm going on a long-term voyage."

fighting off like all creation, the absence of itself
