Amalia and Jigano's jokes did something to Adam that very rarely happened: they flustered him. Huffing a laugh out of his mouth, he cast his eyes down, an embarrassed grin on his face. It felt good to have friends.
With the cake made and the night prepared he bid goodbye to his friends, promising to share any leftovers with them later, then shut the door, sliding down it with a dramatic blowing out of breath as he prepared for the most important date of his life.
