How wonderfully terrible, and a fitting ending as well. Well, an even more fitting end when the dock worker punctuated the story with an... alternative, Vai letting out a laugh. ”I can only imagine the fish,” she remarked, glancing up to Felix as he rose to his feet and announced he was going to bed. Vai was lucky in some ways, she supposed, never having had the interim where she would have to persuade her son to sleep, and she hugged him back with one arm as he said goodnight. ”Sleep well,” she chimed to him, watching him out the door before her attention slid back to Zeph. ”Thank you,” she said softly. ”For walking him home.
