BASTIEN
I have late night conversations
with the moon.
"Meet me, cara," Bastien had said to Rexanna, the last time they had been together. "Meet me at the gate that leads to the fields at dusk, and bring a light of some kind. I will have much to carry for us already. I have a surprise."
The sun had disappeared beyond the clouds, the day coming to it's close; but the evening was just beginning, and that was the time he was truly interested in. In his hands he held a basket containing several items. Whatever they were was hidden by a large blanket laid over the top, bright blue with flecks of gold and white sewn into it (clearly a remnant from his 'Safrin days', but it had been well made and he did not want to waste).
Leaning against a little stone wall by the gate he waited for her, watching the faint beginnings of stars in the sky. It was a cool evening, he could feel that on his numb skin, but calm and quiet, perfect for his plans.
As he sawRexanna approach from a distance he stood up from the wall and waved, held up the basket as if it would mean anything to her with a smile.

As he saw
he tells me about the sun,
and i tell him about you.
