It had been too long since Alys had spent any significant time with Hotaru, and that was a problem that she wanted to remedy at the earliest opportunity. So when their travels brought she and Tal home for a few days, she made a point to seek out her friend to invite her on a picnic in Queen's Gambit. The Eye of Fire, the seer thought, would make a lovely place for an afternoon spent eating and gossiping and catching up, and she found herself there ahead of schedule, excited for the promised meal.
As she waited for Ru to appear, Alys began to set up for their picnic. She spread a blanket out upon the grass, choosing a spot that was beneath a tree not too far from the Eye of Fire itself. The day was pleasant, for Longheat, though perhaps a bit hot - but staying in the shade would help to offset the summer heat. The seer had packed a variety of finger foods, planning to keep their lunch fairly light: a vegetable tray, assorted fruits and cheeses, and some small sandwiches made up the array. Alongside a bottle of wine, it made a pretty picture, and Alys smiled at the memory of her last picnic and the time she'd spent nestled against Tal's side. This time would be memorable, she was sure, albeit in a very different way. She adored Hotaru, of course, but there was something special about time spent with her partner that left her warm and tingling.
Sascha lurked nearby, trundling through some bushes and grass, on the hunt for something more interesting to do than listen to humans talk. Though she was no longer a cub, she was prone to childish tendencies, the inability to sit still being one of them. So long as she stayed nearby, Alys didn't mind her wandering; it just meant more attention could be granted to Ru, when she arrived.
