Things are happening.

Seiji fears soon he will be unable to ignore them, but thus far ignoring them is all he can do. He feels increasingly out of place in the Hollowed Grounds, watching factions form and vie for power. Watching something like a rudimentary civilization form. He cannot say he feels any obligation — to any side. His only loyalties are to his personal friends. To Kiada most of all, and he has seen so little of her. Always in and out, busy with some thing or another. They ought to sit and talk, he thinks. Decide on what it is they are doing here. Or if he ought to separate us into myself and Kiada in terms of interests. Perhaps she no longer needs the house. Perhaps she has become entangled with some group. He only wants to know.

So his thoughts are preoccupied. He has seen the public form go up. He has read the announcement. He has witnessed a handful of scraggly men write their names and go. None look very happy about it. As for Seiji, himself... He does not feel particularly beholden to whoever Queen Zariah is. He feels only worried — worried more fighting will break out. Worried something terrible will happen. She does not seem a very kind person. He suspects he may need to leave, sooner or later. But if the only place to go is the Wildwood, home of the fae...

Today, he only goes so far as the Atheneum. He feels safe here, in the relative cool. Surrounded by dust and the smell of books. It is within the books he goes searching, for some kind of lesson on history. On the way things were run before. He does not know very much of queens or kings. They are a distant concept in his mind, something he does not think he has ever paid homage to. He supposes he ought to learn, before things get very bad. If they get very bad. But he has seen to looks of discontent on the street. And anyway, it's a better way to spend his time than in the empty house, or baking under the sun.

when the heart of this wide-eyed wanderer
Remi is....acclimatizing himself.

Blind as he is now, the world feels and seems to be a very different place. Slowly magic has seemingly slipped into his ruined eyes and let him see in painstakingly low-contrast shades of grey; the exception being persons or places he knows very well. At least, that's what the thinks the connection is. So far nothing he has run into has disproven this theory, but as it is, it is incorrect. More on that later though. Probably.

For a long time the alchemist did not go to the Atheneum. There were a plethora of reasons for this: it was the place Loren had worked when they first came, was one of the last places Remi had seen the man he had loved, it had been a place of tension given his interactions with Jigano, and, finally, it was a place commoners were not allowed to be (at least, in the world Remi had originally come from). Some of those reasons still had weight (the Jigano-reason, primarily), and while the others had faded, like old scars, they still silvered his memory with their presence every now and then.

But it was a place that Remi was fairly certain he wouldn't find Zariah or Edy, and so though it was not a place he felt particularly welcome or comfortable, it did feel safer than the streets outside.

Entering, his pale eyes narrowed to try and make the most out of the desaturated world he found himself in, ahead there was a faint glimmer around the former of a rather willowy-looking man. Recognizing the flop of hair and the lithe proportions, the alchemist smiled to himself as he made his way over.

"Seiji?" The alchemist whispers, coming up from behind him.
