Are they on the joking level now? It seems like they’re on a joking level, so long as Wessex continues the work and doesn’t overstep any boundaries or begin to act above her place on the hierarchical scale. She makes a face to acknowledge how much of an understatement ‘room’ probably is, and then as the Goddess settles for what she imagines is only a brief time more (their interactions were always functional and mostly-satisfying. She could probably ask questions of the Voice for hours but that’s not what the Goddess is there for), tries to figure out which queries are most important.

“Mage glass… Neron seemed keen to impress that it was a myth.” But he’s a snake, a Launceleyn, and if she’s learned anything about that family, it’s that they just keep hoarding power. Even the ‘good’ one can’t help himself. “Do you remember anything about where it was rumored to be found? What it might take to… extract? Mine it?” Would it even be beneficial to them? She and Rex are the only ones who have magic, and hers is infantile at the moment. It could certainly be used in the future, but is it worth their energy to search for it now?

“And…” on a purely personal level, something that Wessex has always wondered and seems to be somewhat intimate enough to ask it, “it’s sentimental, but what was your name before you were known as The Voice?”

"Wouldn't you, if someone you didn't know or trust asked of your most valuable resource?" The Voice replied with a slight smile. "If you speak with him again, you could always ask just what it is Halo has to trade with the rest of Caido...none of the other lands have the need for their warm furs nor really their meat. It is almost as though there is something extremely valuable in the region that entices men and women to stay there, and the rest of the world to venture that far west to trade with them..." As for the nitty gritty of where and how, the Voice shakes her head. "During my ascension to power it was easier to find. Since then most has been mined and then subsequently destroyed by the Old Gods, given that it enhances magical abilities. Perhaps once all of Halo has been explored and my presence there has been spread, I will better be able to answer." She said with a slight shake of her head. Unlike the gods of old the Voice was not above admitting her own ignorance. How else would her children know how to help? Know what she needed?

The queen's question seemed to catch the Voice off guard and for a long moment she said nothing. "Before..." She murmured slowly, her lips twisting into a brief smile. "It is strange to be asked a thing like that after so long." she totally isn't stalling while we figure out an answer to this

Wessex has been known to keep a few secrets in her time. It’s understandable when her Lady frames it that way. Halo is too cold for the average person to want to be there for a long period of time. Even those love the ice-capped mountains and everything they symbolize, she thinks, may find it’s too much for them to want to stay there. But then perhaps she underestimates their desire to see the mountains again and revisit vestiges of their former lives.

“He probably knows far more than he lets on… perhaps something can be done about that, with time,” she agrees, though the future of her bargaining power is uncertain at the moment.

As to whether or not it's strange for her to ask… Wessex can only offer a shrug and a smile. "We know so little about you, thanks to the Old Gods. There’s plenty to do, but I would still try to make you less of an enigma to those whose minds can still be changed.”

“I am confident you’ll find a way to loosen his lips.” The Voice says with a knowing nod. Whether through violence, threats, kindness, or mutual self-interest, the deity knew Wessex would find a path through.

“Perhaps I am being enigmatic as a way to inspire fear, mmm?” This is said with a moment of pause if only to add to the uncertainty of whether or not she’ll answer. In the end however, the Voice merely shakes her head, her lips widening into a smile that is unable to crinkle her alabaster skin.

Lleisi... She whispers, the name ringing off of her tongue with a musical sort of lilt that does not belong within the Grounds. As she names herself thus, the blue vein-lights within the shrine flicker to life, electricity sparking brightly through the organic circuit board that powers this place.

“And only those worthy of becoming brighter can overcome that fear?” Wessex returns, a slip of a smile on her lips. Fear masquerades as courage; the greater threat overwhelming and pushing one to act, regardless of the lesser fear. Fear of the oncoming soldiers trumps fear of deep water, fear of starvation causes us to try crazy new food combinations. Fear of death pushed her onward, into the completely terrifying unknown. Zariah pushed Rex. Love, theoretically, pushed her newest brother, but that, too, is a sort of fear of losing someone. Fear of not being remembered, she can assume for Bastien - or something like that.

The sound of her Lady’s name wraps itself around her head and heart, that peculiar lilt finding an immediate home in her soul. It rings as bright as the electricity which runs through this place.Lleisi… she tries to repeat, botching the intonation a bit, but perhaps it’s the effort and the thought that counts. The gratitude and love for that kind of information is apparent on the Queen’s face. Her name is safe with Wessex. It’s the demi-god’s own little secret, something not even her siblings could drag from her - and oh, they could drag a lot when it was in their best interest to know.

Bowing her head in thanks, The Wraith signals the end of her questions in silence, watching for the last bit of her’s Goddess’ presence before it undoubtedly fades away.

{finished for W!}

“Indeed.” The Voice agrees, pleased and unsurprised as ever that Wessex follows along so easily. “For where there is knowledge, there is nothing to fear. Only facts and different pathways and decisions to make. In the dark of ignorance lay horrific things that keep unconquerable minds up at night...” So yes. It was her brightness that could bleed away the fear. Ignorance after all is what kept so many away from her light.

Merrily said, the name twice now spoken fades away as the Goddess smiles. “We will speak soon.” She says with a nod; prophecy or merely an assumption, it is hard to say. Softly her light blooms brighter, invigorating Wessex, before the Voice disappears in a soft shower of sparks.
