The stony ammunition was re-stacked in its previous pile - a little more broken, a little more battered, not unlike the brave army it had so recently wreaked havoc upon. Some of the stones had been broken into pieces too small to justify retrieving, while others had multiplied as they shrunk: one large rock becoming three middling-sized ones upon one impact too many with wood and earth. Regardless, they all soon found themselves set away for future sorties, and the bard turned and winced with amused apology at the pile of targets they had just repaired.

"That's all I can ask," the bard agreed cheerfully. A pause turned into a moment's hesitation and then a tentatively cleared throat. "Ah... thank you for today, by the way. For the training, the talk, and the fun. If you need more help repairing your ravaged army, I'd be happy to help." To give his gratitude more than words, and show the seriousness behind it. His time, his energy, his company - if Deimos wouldn't mind it. Or his absence, circumspectly conspicuous in his silence if the General wished to return to a more restful solitude after an afternoon spent entertaining his unexpected guest.

Either way, he would lapse into a more thoughtful quiet, holding back his more usual pestering proliferation of questions until he was either out the door, or the dummies were returned to their attentive rows, awaiting the next bugle of the battle horns to face their fate with stoic resignation.
