They believe nothing can reach us
And pull us out of the boundless gloom
Once they’d run through their initial festival preparations, there was really only the stalls and their specific necessities left. The Artisan’s Guild, small but mighty, had their own contingents and abilities, capable of mustering anything and everything within their capacity – but this was a time to showcase their wares, and possibly recruit. Weren’t there enough purveyors, merchants, and vendors of goods throughout the Hollowed Grounds? Wouldn’t there be some others interested?

A two-fold mission then: he strode over to their selected area, eyes drifting over the repaired construction, checking over the alterations and timber (just in case; though he knew Amalia and her crew had done meticulous work), before stepping back and drawing up another list for materials, designs, and anything else they’d likely require. They’d need signs, a multitude of them, and he’d already started to drag several other kiosks together, so they were clustered, assembled in a manner that proclaimed they were a part of a larger threshold, a group of crafters; shelving, décor (which he would clearly need assistance in; since his aesthetic seemed to mark towards weaponry), and some other way to entice inhabitants to visit.

While he waited for others to join, the General’s contorted incantations were already molding more and more timber, and he’d carried over buckets of paint. Anything else required he could create; preparation already embedded in his machinations and calculations, his existence.

PQ for the Artisan’s Guild stall! Any Artisan’s members have first dibs, but I’d like to move this along in a next couple of days!

He noticed Deimos bustling about as he was wandering by, and gave the General a nod as he paused to see what the big man was up to. Shelving, signage, general space for wares and goods... The bard stepped closer, intrigued and wondering who was part of the Guild these days, now that Deimos had taken over. Once he had teased the mountain warrior about being as much artist as warrior and had been brushed off. Perhaps a change of heart had been had?

The Loreseekers needed to get busy building their stall, Jigano knew, but first he had to let the ideas of just how they should present it percolate. Besides, they could use all the goodwill he could drum up, and if he helped out the other guilds, maybe they'd agree to lend a hand when it came time to putting his own Guild's display together. So he nodded to the General and offered a wry smile as he gestured to his lanky self. "The Loreseekers would be happy to help out the Artisan's, if there's anything I can do for you," he offered. "I can anchor the stalls so they don't get knocked over, or make signs or whatever you think is a good use for my talents." Deimos knew his magic and manual skills by now, and would know how to make use of them for whatever machinations were churning through that tactical mind for arranging his fortifications to best effect for the party.

Seeing as Loren had been helping out pretty much everywhere else, he figured it wouldn’t hurt to throw himself into the preparations for Fiat Lux across the board. At this point, he was willing to at least show up every time someone asked for help with a stall or a project, though if there were too many cooks he’d leave it be.

Considering that Deimos had helped the Launceleyn out more than once, however, he wouldn't say no to helping with the Artisan’s guild. So he’d shown up, a faint smile on his lips. When he saw that Jigano was already there, the summoner’s lips quirked up. ”Why am I not surprised to see you here?” Then he turned to the General. ”Reporting for duty.” There was a lightly teasing tone in Loren’s voice which might surprise the other men, especially considering the summoner wasn’t even sure there was still a militia.

They believe nothing can reach us

He wasn’t surprised by who appeared – and while they weren’t Artisan Guild members (few in number anyway), they were welcomed regardless. A brief smile maneuvered its way along his mouth, before the arch of a brow, a nod towards Jigano’s insinuations, Loreseekers and crafters wielding and melding for continued Fiat Lux expansion. He extended a snort along Loren’s greeting, but still bowed his skull in thanks to them; the spiral of their gratitudes continuing its circle and cycle, a constant barrage of forces and vitriol, willing to lend their assistance into whatever conflagrations, skills, tactics, and ideas the world seemed to muster.

The Sword’s eyes went back to the kiosks, considering what they’d need, the available arrays into the fold. “If either of you are artistically inclined,” here his glance went towards the sign boards, timber already rendered and cut for this purpose, “We need a number of signs.” To display, to account for all the items that would be available and showcased – the paint gathered, the brushes nearby. “I can hang them.” A flight of feathers along the top of the kiosks, hammer and nails already applied where he wanted them to go. “And yes, we should anchor the stalls,” another nod at Jigano’s suggestion; uncertain how truly weighted they were, especially with impending shelving, décor, and materials to be assembled and placed along their thresholds. Any tools, or items they required would likely be found by the overprepared Sword (some taken from the previous event; both he and the Shield disposed to arranging for any and all circumstances), or if something was needed, could simply ask and the artifact could be created, contorted, into the ether.

"I can take the anchoring," Jigano offered cheerfully, flexing invisible fingers against the strings of his earth magic and feeling it rise to the occasion. "You might want to stand outside them until I have them sunk, though." Because while there were certainly more mundane ways to do it, he was still learning to make use of his new magic, pushing limits and finding ways to refine his abilities.

When the other men were at a safe distance he pressed his hands into the earth, feeling where the weight of the stalls pressed down upon it and softening the ground beneath, carving it away so that the structures sank a few inches down, far enough that no gust of wind or drunken bump from a party-goer would shift them, at least, as he pushed the soil back into place along the boards to hold them firm.

He rose and shook his hands, looking to the shelves and counters with a thoughtful focus as he considered how sturdy they were compared to last year. Dirt wouldn't make for good supports, but how interesting would it be to have a few young trees or thick vines growing up to provide a little extra support? He hadn't brought his bag of seeds, though, and--

The thought, the desire, the will combined to spark something new within him, catching in the earth to wake life where only the memory of seeds had been before. Vines curled up from behind the stall, growing thick and swiftly as they crawled up the back of the boards and then over the top, drooping down to braid beneath the shelves in a living framework of extra support for what might be placed there.

"Ah... that's... new," he murmured, blinking as he channeled the new growth with fingers that twitched and flexed in an effort to weave the woody vines where he wanted them to go, so they didn't overrun beyond his vision and intent.

Loren nodded along with Deimos’ instructions. When Jigano jumped immediately on anchoring, the summoner grinned. "I am not artistically inclined, at all. But I guess I'm on sign duty." Giving another nod, the Launceleyn gathered up the requisite materials and moved a safe distance away.

If the General wanted it to be artistic, though, Loren figured he should do a variety of styles. So he started with simple, boring, and painted signs. Next he used his telekinesis to do the same, which looked, well, identical to the ones he made with his hands. Then, though, he shifted, and carved the letters in using his claws. Finally, he painted with his paws, leaving a paw print on it as a signature of sorts. Finally, he shifted back and admired his handiwork.

At the bard's words, the summoner glanced over. His eyes tracked the movement of the vines before he cheerfully called out to the white-haired man. "I guess congratulations are in order!"

DEIMOS
They believe nothing can reach us
And pull us out of the boundless gloom
Curiosity bound the Sword to watch and bear witness to Jigano’s anchoring techniques and talents, sliding out of the way, but just so, eyes drifting along the ground as stalls and structures sunk, soil reaffirming its presence, its substance, its fortifying balance. Then vines curled and coiled, a structural framework of living masses, the beast maneuvering to arch his brow at the Loreseeker’s murmur; new. Growth and strength, foundational twists and turns, both foreign and from within. He crouched to peer further, only witnessing earthen contortions via Remi’s gifts and talents. “Impressive,” he remarked, a compliment, before standing back and allowing more things to unfold.

If Loren thought he wasn’t artistically inclined, Deimos didn’t have much to say about his own skills in that regard, While he waited for Loren to finish so he could orchestrate his own measures, he watched – telekinesis unfurling, badger motions intertwining, carving claws into the wood; paw prints notched, a fleeting smirk on the General’s features. He shook his head, but was otherwise amused, and after attaching strings to the finished signs, shifted himself, noble, tawny wings brandished, plumes extended. Talons stretched to grab hold of the signs and their thread, going from each stall on the highest points and placing them along the nails already extended there – occasionally having the itch of perfection and adjusting them accordingly.

Finished, successful on all three fronts, he glided back down, reappearing as the monolith. “I would like to make some shelves for each stall,” which meant all three could work on the same thing, clamber and cobble things together – his eyes drifting to the timber already waiting along the sidelines, cut and brandished. He demonstrated the notions and ideas for each with a demonstration, grabbing hold of the shelving material, placing them along with nails and hammer on the first stall, before following through on a fanning enterprise, so everything was available to see, wares on display for anyone passing by.

Strangely enough, the signs came out better than expected. However, it was nothing compared to the display that Jigano put together for his anchoring. Smiling at the sight, Loren let out a huff of laughter.

Then, though, Deimos assigned them to shelving duty. Immediately, the summoner bit his lip, but nodded. Slightly tentatively, he gathered up some lengths of wood in his arms, nabbing the hammer and nails with his telekinesis. Then he started at the opposite end of the stalls from the General.

The Launceleyn held the shelves in place with his hands while using his telekinesis to hammer them in place. If (or more likely, knowing his luck, when) the shelves got damaged or broke, he'd replace the length of wood with a new one. He'd keep up the careful work until he met up with the other men.

"Thank you!" The words were accompanied by a flicker of bemused gratitude through the Attuned link all three men shared, the bard still take aback by his new talent, but the easy way his fellow Outlanders congratulated and complimented him eased any flicker of guilt he might have learned in the past year. It was a useful skill, and one he would likely find a use for again in the future.

Could he make flowers with it as well?

A thought for another time (and another booth). He shook himself out of his reverie as Deimos explained their next task, and he huffed a laugh, considering his past experience with construction. He collected tools and nails and wood as directed, however, and chose one of the Artisan's stalls to make a shelf for. It wasn't the sturdiest of units by the time he was done, but a judicious use of calling forth fresh vines to twine around and it anchored it more firmly than his haphazard nails had done, giving the booth a decidedly organic look all around.

They believe nothing can reach us

Loren’s shelving techniques, even with the potential for being haphazard with telekinesis, were wildly successful, blending themselves well under the skill and outreach of incantations and more human tendencies. Nothing seemed to falter, nothing seemed to shudder, nothing seemed to shake; sturdy and stalwart renditions for the stall, and for whomever’s wares would be on display.

Jigano’s were not as fortunate or triumphant. While the vine trick held them fast, some still managed to topple and tip, and wouldn’t be able to hold anything much more than light-weighted goods. They might not even last the festival, based on how rickety and infirm they were. Was there anything else the bard could grab nearby, to ensure they were a bit more sturdy?

Deimos’ fared along the same lines as Loren’s, managing to come up with mantles and fronts that would resemble a store – manifestations of all shapes and sizes capable of remaining there, no fear of faltering or falling to their doom. His eyes followed the line of work they all encompassed, only a slight furrowing of his brows at Jigano’s construction. He grabbed hold of some smaller blocks of wood, pondering if they could stabilize it from underneath, while gaze settled back upon Loren, nearly a snicker on his face. “We can finish up here. Loren, if you would do the honors of hanging the banners,” and there he indicated a few more pieces and portions of décor he’d managed to hasten from their latest preparations, some leftover bright hues and embellishments, something to entice or inveigle others over. “Then we can be done.”

Hmmm. That didn't quite turn out the way he'd planned, even taking into account his own less-than-stellar carpentry skills. He didn't realize quite how bad it was until he'd finished and stepped back to admire the work that had been done. Uneven, weak, and likely to fail in a stiff breeze... he bit his lip, glancing to the stalls on either side and their much-sturdier shelving in comparison. Whichever poor Artisan got his booth was going to be in for a world of trouble, and he wouldn't wish that on Deimos, Amalia, or Remi.

Which meant turning to the professional for help.

He grinned wryly at Loren, then turned to Deimos with a sheepish look. "I need more practice," he admitted. "But I can try and hold things steady for you while you fix this?" 'This' being the mess he had made, but hopefully with the General's more capable help it could be set to rights in time for the festival.

For once Loren's carpentry and construction skills held up on the first try, and he smiled triumphantly. Glancing over at the other two men, it seemed that Deimos had similar luck. Jigano, unfortunately, was struggling, and the summoner sent the bard a sympathetic smile.

Then the General called the Launceleyn over and gave him new marching orders. Nodding in acknowledgement, he gathered up the banners in question. Then he went around to the stalls, and used a combination of telekinesis and the simple expediency of tossing them over the tops to try and drape them as artfully as possible.

And if he failed, well, they'd be easy enough to fix, and eager to help as he was, even Loren was getting worn out by what seemed like an endless stream of tasks for Fiat Lux. This seemed like something someone else could correct if worst came to worst.

The Sword’s ensuing snort, following Jigano’s shelving attempts, was all the response he’d deliver, save for action. Crouching along the shelving contortions, eyeing the errors, he slipped more timber underneath, intending for the pieces to be makeshift holding blocks, allowing for further weight to dip towards them, bracers for whatever wares and supplies would remain on their sanction. It was much easier to construct with Jigano’s supports, and they were patched up in no time at all – a notation for following years already delving into his mind.

Loren’s efforts went off without a hitch again, the banners coiling in telekinesis properties, tossed over canopies and bastions, failing to fight their sudden flight. Draped, overlaid, and cloaking the sectioned-off wooden parallels and partitions, they remained steadfast and true, flags, emblems, and achievements noted and recognized as artisan crafted.

Eventually, Deimos took a step back, surveying everything they’d accomplished. “Fine job. Our work here is done,” he announced after glancing over portions, after inspecting and investigating, tirelessly scrupulous, dusting his hands off. “Thank you. Let me know if there is any way I can assist either of you.” Which they all seemed to do anyway – a cyclical formation to their requirements of strength, might, fortitude, or magic.
