OLIVER
Within the eye, mysteries of the soul burn deeply beneath the fiery chasms of love
and patiently wait for an awakening

A lovely, ivory tapestry was laid out ever so gently on the floor of his room. Paint was carefully placed on the sides along with a jar of water and some ceramic tiles. There was also a white cloth that would be used to help clean off the brushes.

Glancing down at the canvas, Oliver paced a small bit, completely barefoot and wearing clothes that he didn’t mind getting paint on. There was a bandana wrapped around his head to keep away any wandering strands of hair. A soft sigh left his lips as he stared up at the ceiling, deep in thought until it dawned on him. With an eager smile, he knelt down and began working. A hesitant hand moved between paints, trying to decide which one to start with before he grasped for the blue paint, placing it down in front of him. Using the white paint, he poured each one out onto the tile and worked towards mixing up a new shade of blue. He’d proceed to do this using the blue and a hint of yellow to create another color. Then, using the three shades of blue, he’d create a sea of waves at the bottom of the tapestry, his paintbrush and hands whisking the paint into a fluffy sea. A vibrant ocean full of energy, one that was splashing and full of force. There would be accents of white within the ocean to represent sea foam.

Placing away the paints, he’d place a hand on his face, inspecting the painting while also adding quite a bit of paint to his face. No matter, he’d simply move on. Washing off the brush and wiping the paint from his hands on the cloth, he’d move on to the next portion. He’d grab his red and yellow paints, creating a vibrant orange, yellow-orange, and red-orange. As well, he’d try to make a red with more of a pink hue to it, one that could add a bit more of a pop to the rest of his art. Like the sea, he’d move on to creating a sunset. One that was warm, inviting. It would contrast strongly with the ocean. While one was sharp and deadly, the other was smooth, relaxing, and included lots of careful blending on his part. The sunset would be the calm before the storm, a bit of relaxation. Something that was inviting.

It took a long time to fully finish it. Lots of concentration and his clothes did get quite messy. There were a couple of slip ups, some paint went where he didn’t plan originally, but that was fine. They were accidents but they would also be accepted with open arms. It would add character to the art and hopefully show that he had made it, rather than simply going out and purchasing it. Oliver could be a bit narcissistic, but he didn’t want to get praised for his art style. Rather, he just wanted to show Bastien that he was willing to dedicate time to something, that maybe someday he could join the Artist’s Guild.

Leaving the tapestry to dry, he’d pack away all of his paints, placing them in a basket that would go underneath his bed. All he had to do now was wait for the time to deliver his gift. For now, he’d wash up and make sure that his art piece remained undamaged.
