From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

As Zariah got off the bridge, Loren immediately turned to hunker down behind a box. Breathing shallowly at the stench, he risked a peek over the top and saw the Ursur and the exile charging towards them. Ducking down again, he reached out with his mind.
His goal was to try and stop the Ursur in its tracks, and, if he could send it charging back down the tunnel to try and flush out any more enemies. So he compelled it to stop attacking them and instead turn around and run right back down the tunnel, roaring all the while.
Loren stays hidden and compels the Ursur to stop attacking them and go running and roaring back down the tunnel.

In her attempts, while the Ursur is distracted, Wessex’s biopulse hits and disorients the tusked bear even further. It gives the demi-god time to hop onto the beast, though the claws don’t exactly go where needed. Instead, the claws sheer right down the side of the ursur’s neck, the blood pouring out and freezing against the ground.
Zariah and Morgan seem to work as a decent team at least, the lightning strike from the archmage hits the cannibal right in the shoulder, scorching and burning away the fabric and causing him to stumble forward. He stumbles forward right into the box that slides his way, with dismembered arms and blood freezing as it hits him, making things incredibly slick.
Neron in his attempt to life drain from the Ursur doesn’t entirely go to plan, not when Loren’s compelling picks up and even though Wessex rides along the back of it, it begins to charge down the tunnel, past where the group sits and heads straight for the ice bridge that’s already cracking with the metal spikes below.
All the commotion has caused the attention of another cannibal, the second in charge, that cries out something of interest to the rest of them and suddenly the hoard begins to appear almost like they’re coming out of the walls, hatchets and magic ready for a fight.

Well at least Wessex can now add ‘riding Ursurs’ to her list of skills.
Confident that the bear will soon bleed out, Wessex remains atop the Ursur and tries to direct it to one side of the bridge or the other (thereby missing the bridge and careening off the side instead) using its ears as a steering wheel. When it gets close enough to the edge for the Wraith to find danger of going over the edge imminent, she swings a leg over and leaps off the bear, tucking into a roll as she lands, hopefully avoiding slipping on the slick ground.
If she can, she’ll scramble through the various bloody debris, back to Neron to offer magical re-resonance support against whomever he targets.

Wessex tries to steer the Ursur to either side of the bridge in order to preserve it. She jumps off the bear, tucks into a roll as she lands, and then tries to find Neron to offer Magical Re-Resonance support if he attacks with Magic.
Magic: Magic Re-Resonance | When abandoned magic is cast within 5ft of Wessex, she can duplicate the ability at its upgraded level once.
Zariah's teeth ground together, a hint of a smirk in her eye to see her attack connect, though not as nicely as she would have liked. She glanced around, reassessing quickly as more and more cannibals seemed to materialize out of thin air. They were easily outnumbered but the Archmage doubted they were outclassed - and in the end, that would be all that mattered. Using herself as the central point, she struck out with electricity, multiple blasts firing out at the horde and the leaders, hoping to accomplish the broadest and most crippling damage as possible.
Zariah turns herself into a living plasma lamp and strikes at the cannibals around the group with mastered lightning magic
With a grumble of annoyance that, as per usual, they were apparently unable to work as a decent team, Neron did his best to keep his attention on the Ursur. He could hear the commotion behind them, and a brief glance showed the hoard of cannibals, but Zariah and Morgan seemed to have it in hand. And so it was that Neron headed after the charging bear, skidding to a stop near (hopefully) to where Wessex landed.
Wasting no time, he reached out a hand and extended his will, throwing a spear of ice at the creature using his magic. "We need to take this down quickly," he said, his tone clipped - obviously he was thinking of the ravenous cannibals behind them.
Neron heads after the Ursur and throws a spear of ice at it, hopefully in range of Wessex's re-resonance.

Surprisingly, Morgan was able to work in tandem with Zariah, something she would not have considered possible prior. The cannibal was knocked back and even with the gory image of flying limbs, there was some satisfaction in seeing the impact. Of course, they weren't alone, and soon there were many more descending upon the group.
It seemed once again she would be trying to work with the mage. She had not intentionally meant to incite this team up, but when opportunities presented themselves...using her mastered water magic, Morgan sent a wave of forceful water to push around the horde, carrying the electricity that Zariah had cast even further and hopefully knocking the cannibals on their feet in the process.

there's light at the edge of the darkness
As the Ursur went charging past onto the bridge, with Wessex on top of it, Loren's eyes widened. That had been the exact opposite of what he'd been intending. Still, he didn't miss a beat. Sparing the briefest glance at the cannibals that began pouring out, he gritted his teeth.
Then he reached out with his mind once more. Trying to grip the Ursur's mind with his compulsion once again, he ordered it off the bridge, and actually into the cannibals, hoping to knock them down. At the very least, he wanted its weight off the ice so that it didn't crack and leave them stranded.
Loren compels the Ursur to get off the bridge and hopefully charging into the crowd of cannibals.

The ursur continues its path toward the bridge, almost ready to bulldoze into it before Loren’s magic catches and the ursur begins to turn. Of course, the trajectory of this throws off Neron’s spear of ice, sailing a hair away from where the ursur would have been if not for the shift in path it takes. Wessex’s spear hits, however, impaling the creature in the back hind leg. But it continues on its path, throwing itself into the cannibal hoard before it collapses on a few of the scraggly ones.
Zariah’s magic works to stun the cannibals, taking out a few of those within the hoard as well as much of the second in command and the leader. The water from Morgan doesn’t quite catch the electricity, but it does cause a few of the cannibals within the hoard to stumble, to get stuck briefly as the water freezes to the ground.
The cannibals, however, retaliate. And with it, they shoot arrows of flame toward the group. One of these manages to snag Morgan’s sleeve, missing her skin but tearing a burning hole straight through and revealing skin. Another arrow nears Zariah, zinging past her leg and leaving her relatively unharmed.

Right, so it appears she and Neron are #TeamUrsur.
In the interest of not having a.) a rampaging bear and b.) letting it suffer too much, once the Ursur goes down, she tries to get close enough to hit it with another biopulse, which shouldn’t affect Neron - anyone else in range, ehhh, sucks for them. Ice again? she calls to the Warden, asking so she can fashion another weapon. What he does with his ice is up to him, but if he obliges with the magic, she’ll fashion a guillotine-like ice-blade and send it crashing down on the Ursur's neck (to decapitate it) or its back, hoping to quickly end its pain.

Wessex tries to hit the Ursur with a biopulse again, then asks Neron for ice/water magic so she can make a guillotine ice blade and bring it down on the bear's neck or back.
They were not yet down, but it was high time to switch up the tactics - being repetitive was an easy way be anticipated and had nothing to do with Grant remembering Zariah' other magics at all. With a few of the cannibals caught in the ice created by Morgan's blow, the Archmage cast out her hands, life drain casting out amongst the cannibals to suck the very energy that sustained them to empower her.
As for the arrows, a quick little spin left her out of harms way for the moment, but she would definitely be keeping an eye out for those now.
Neron might have been annoyed at the way the Ursur kept changing its trajectory in seemingly random ways (Loren) if it hadn't been so damned useful. And so he followed on Wessex's heels heedless of the cold as he summoned more ice to his fingertips. "You got it," he muttered in response to the Ascended's message, but this time he pulled his power up and through the stone in spikes, hoping to impale the Ursur and the cannibals as well.
Neron uses mastered water manipulation to pull icy spikes up through the ground, trying to impale the Ursur and the cannibals it ran into.

While Morgan's water didn't spread Zariah's magic like intended, it did still at least function to knock over and stick some of the cannibals down, so she wasn't too angry. Watching Zariah send out her life drain she decided to give them the ol' one-two punch, sending in another attack of her own behind the mages.
It probably wasn't smart to get too close with life drain and electricity going between the cannibals, so she lifted out her warhammer then let her telekinesis do the rest, running so she was just in range then sending the hammer shooting out as hard as she could, aiming for it to hit the nose of one of the more prominent members of the crowd.

The Ursur was back among the cannibals, which Loren figured meant he could release his grip on its mind. Glancing around quickly showed him that there was little he could do to heal his companions, and no attacks headed his way.
So he tapped into his summoning magic. A dragon exploded into being. He sent it charging into the crowd of cannibals hoping to overwhelm them and knock them to the ground. Its claws swept out to strike at the first cannibal that had attacked them within range. His expression had grown into a furious mask, a snarl leaving his lips as he directed his creature.
Loren summons a dragon and has it charge into the cannibals, specifically telling it to claw at Cannibal 1.
As Wessex moves closer, the biopulse does shoot into the horde and the ursur, stunning the horde momentarily and disorienting the ursur even further as it crushes those trapped beneath it. However, before Wessex has a chance to follow through with Neron’s magic, Loren’s dragon is rampaging through, throwing bodies of cannibals about and clawing the ursur until it’s life leaves its body. Still, it remains hunched over the bodies of cannibals it traps, slowly leaking the life out of them as they struggle to breathe.
Zariah’s life drain is similarly blocked in a sense, by the dragon that charges by, missing the frozen cannibals completely. Similarly for Neron, the cannibals beneath the ursur that the ice impales as well as the ursur itself have already perished. As for Morgan, as she attempts to throw her warhammer into cannibal 1, the cannibal recovers a fair amount, dipping to the side and shooting his own arrow out at the captain. Both miss each other, whizzing right by the space where they had been.
Similarly, cannibal 2 and parts of the horde shoot their own volleys (somehow having storm trooper aim) and miss the party as well. But now, cannibal 1 and cannibal 2 start to charge the group - singling out Morgan and Zariah as the initial targets, pulling hatchets from their sides as they storm them.
