Every day's a little harder as I feel my power grow
You wanna know what's stupid? Sticks. Sticks are very stupid.

Here Delta was, just swimming along trying to enjoy her life when a stick got caught right in her hair. It wasn't a normal stick either, nope, it was one of those little ones with tons of spikes and so when she tried to get it out the first time, it just broke! Getting even more stuck in her hair and being actually a bit painful. Safe to say, her hair was absolutely ruined! All that hard work went to nothing and no way was she going to swim for any longer with the hair in an absolute tangled up mess.

Moving on up to the surface, she rested against some rocks, sitting down almost on some that were just below the surface, allowing her fish half to be underwater while the rest was above. And that's how she started off her day at the surface, combing through her hair with her fingers. Today was going to be a nice day on the surface, but fine. Whatever. She can do her hair up here instead.

Grumbling along, the mermaid continued to work on her hair, only a few feet away from the nearest island and in perfect view, of course, she was a bit distracted herself, clearly a bit grumpy at this time.

There was a game I used to play with Ella when we were kids; it was stupid and I’m sure it scared the shit out of our parents (if they cared), but it was a Torcher tradition. Every kid played it until they knew how not to get trapped among the Isles.

One has just floated close enough to another for me to swim/wade across and as I come to solid ground, I can see that this island is just a liiiiiittle one. Skinny and long. Rocks and coral on the other side. Crossing to the more jagged edge, I’m sure to explore all my options, checking the water depth and seeing how close the other island are - Oh. I guess I’m not the only one out here.

Didn’t think anyone else would be playing the Isles Game with the water getting colder, but I guess I’m wrong. “Oy!” I call out of the girl (I think?) with her back to me. “You been there long? Anything passed by on this side?”Some Isles move like clockwork. Some don’t. I got plenty of time, but there have been times when I’ve been stuck for awhile before. And this one, unfortunately, doesn’t have any trees. Just sun, sand, and rocks.

A voice rings out in the air, clearly calling out to her seeing as she's in a very deserted area. Turning her head around, her pauses, still placed at the bottom of her hair. Tilting her head, Delta drops the head to the side and begins to inspect the girl whilst hearing her out. The girl was, honestly, very pretty. It was rare that Delta spoke with women lately, typically seeing mostly men these days. The last girl Delta got to speak with was Seren, so this was a nice breath of fresh air.

The conversation was also nice and only made Delta even more interested in the mysterious girl. "Nothin' has shifted too majorly recently, I'd assume an island should get pretty close soon." It was the best guess she could make, seeing as she hadn't been watching the islands too intently. Still, she was well aware of their movements, seeing as she had to find a way to safely swim back home. "I'd say... give it a little bit and you should be fine." She offered her a small smile before deciding to ask her own question.

"What brings you out here to this island? This one isn't exactly the most fun."

Mmmm yes, okay, so it’s a lady over there, at least it is from the sound of the voice. As I continue to cross the isle, it becomes more physically obvious that the person is female, and we go from shouting-distance to speaking-loudly distance. There’s somethin’ nagging me about this, though. I don’t presume to know why people are out here, or why she’s not sitting more on the island. Ain’t really any of my business. So I just nod and smile, finding a rock to sit on, takin’ a rest and refuel break. “Thanks.” A little waitin’ was part of the game, after all.

I keep lookin’ out of the corner of my eye at her (not necessarily invitin’ conversation, you know) and when she asks another question, I take the opportunity to fully look. “I’m playing the Isles game. With m’self.”

AH! I know what it is. It’s the way she’s turned, it don’t look natural. “Hey why’re you out there?” The water isn’t freezing, but it isn’t warm, either. I’m betting she’s been there for a bit. “Ain’t the water cold?”
