cover you when the sky comes crashing in
Settled into their tasks, sacks in hand, Aisha and Sunjata found an ample amount of snow moss available, surprisingly, given the amounts they’d already utilized, gathered, and snagged for other LongNight endeavors. Perhaps this patch had tucked itself away, furtive and secretive, duplcitious and devious, but specious no longer in its keep, with predators and attuned individuals seeking the flora out. Aisha found the largest supply, capable of fitting all of them in her sack by the handful, a grand amount to ensure there was a comfortable expanse for the Spark Bird. Sunjata’s claws discovered purchase too, ripping and snagging, somehow handling wings, bag, and plantlife well, despite injuries. They’d be able to hasten back to the others without fault or flaw; a breath of fresh air from earlier mishandling.

Orchestrations by Jigano successfully manifested his contortions of the design, rising, metallic curls and coils, meant to mimic a bird’s nest, exact undulations previously sketched and drawn by Swords and Shields. Deimos, maybe due to his already ample use of enchantments and invocations, could feel a pull, a warning, in the back of his mind, and with it, the sputtering of edges, notches of mistakes and errors.

The General growled inwardly to himself, showing none of his frustration on reserved features, stoically taking it all in again, irritated by the constant defective measures. He quickly fixed, adhered, resonated the heat, the creation, and the earth back into proper formation, and together, by the time the other pair had returned, it was finished.

The beast stood back to glance at their handiwork, eyes roaming to the incoming duo. “Good work,” he motioned towards their bags, clearly filled. Then his gaze swept along the nest, at the iron, at the coppery hues, giving and granting himself a break in the meantime. “You can place them on,” and once the snow moss was stretched out, and the other offering, and decorating parties could go about their duties, it’d be time to settle into the finale.

“Last part,” he hoped, but didn’t announce that little sedition. “We need to lift it, put it along the beams, and then I can weld it there.” Make it stick, make it stay, make sure it would hold. Then Deimos bent down, hands grasping again at a corner, waiting for others to follow suit.

--

Fingers crossed for the last part! Sunjata and Aisha can put their snow moss on the nest, and then they all need to lift the nest together to put it on the main beam! Use those muscles! No post order!

While Deimos went back and fixed his own work, Jigano reinforced the parts of the nest that he was involved with, weaving and refining the metal, smoothing edges and ensuring no sharp points to prickle or prove uncomfortable through the moss that would eventually cover it. When the General was finally content with his half and the time came to bring them together the bard heated his hands with fire and helped to interlace the metal 'branches' and strands so that the two pieces became a seamless whole.

Then all that remained was crowning the perch with the nest, an achievement that they could all take part in. As the pair of moss-gatherers returned the bard gave Aisha a bright grin and a sweeping bow to indicate her path to the place their fiery savior would hopefully inhabit, and once the lining was in place he stepped between the General and the leopardess and added his own strength to lifting and raising the nest to its new perch.

i'll love you till the day i die, even if it's just a bold face hell of a pretty lie
He’s surprised it works so well, to be honest. The bag cradled in one foot, the other and opposite hand finding purchase along the bark of a tall tree, tearing the snow moss from the branches and dropping them into the sack he’d brought. Before he knows it, the bag grows a bit heavy, and Sunjata realizes that it’s grown relatively full – a quick cursory glance toward Aisha proved that her search had been fruitful as well, and he hums a quiet chuckle to her through the attuned bond.

But they return to the gathering space, Sunjata hovering in the air for the next task to complete, holding the bag carefully in his feet to not lose them. The mention of putting the snow moss onto the nest portion has him flapping up to the nest and perching there carefully to stack the snowmoss, trying to keep everything even and soft enough – still having never seen a Sparkbird, but imagining it might want something soft to sit on.

And when he’s done with that, he shifts back into himself at the ground, going to pick up his end after taking a deep breath and hoping he doesn’t accidentally ruin his wound with the movement.

Sunjata puts on the snow moss and then moves to help lift the nest!

AISHA
gimme a kiss
like a kick in the teeth
A stroke of good luck at last, Aisha and Sunjata managed to stumble upon a fruitful amount of snow moss. Only plucking the crème de la crème, Aisha made quick work of her task, gathering the soft undergrowth until her sack was filled to the brim. Satisfied with her good fortune she made her way back to the rest of the group, meeting with a feathered Sunjata on the way, happy to see how well his own endeavor had gone.

She spread her loot across the nest, as carefully and neatly as she had the time and energy to spare, then stepped back, tossing the sack aside. She caught Jigano's smile, giving her own little mock curtsy to his bow, then moved on to the next task at Deimos's order. All they had to do now was lift the nest, and hopefully no more accidents would be made.

Aisha lays out her moss and helps lift the nest!

Fortune was a reverential thing when they could grasp it, and finally, the wave of their efforts persisted. In pursuit of heavy burdens and cumbersome loads for the ongoing good, all four of them lifted, holding with brawn, strength, and muscles, undulations of their perseverance and dedication to the task. The iron, metallic nest held firm in their grasps, and as they gently lowered it upon the main structure, Deimos made use of his fire contortions again, permitting the flames to adhere, to meld, to mold, to weld the conflagrations together. He also took the opportunity to stretch the metal upwards, elongating the perch’s stance a little, but not sacrificing the support underneath.

Eventually, they could step back, observe, and marvel at their feats and efforts. “Excellent,” the Sword murmured, through the midst of everything finalized, completed, and there before them. “Well done to everyone. You should be proud of yourselves,” and he meant it, in those deep, rumbling tones affixed to the winter’s chill. It was an achievement, and perhaps it would mean something, towards the end of LongNight’s stretch, when they were forlorn and lost and decrepit. And while they waited for the other groups to finalize, the slightest stretch of a smirk flickered in the corner of his lips. “Anyone want to test it?” Birds or leopards (perhaps they could launch Aisha from the sanction and she could grasp, hold, her way up).

Excellent rolls just when we needed them! The Perch for the Spark Bird is complete!

Feel free to do a wrap-up post, or not. ;D I’ll be closing this out in a couple days!

Thank you everyone!

Despite a few setbacks, the Perch finally came to fruition. Steel and iron, softened by snow moss and ready to be decorated and surrounded with offerings, took their place in the center of Sanctuary and Jigano stood back with a grin for Aisha and Deimos – and even a nod of gratitude for Sunjata’s help. The General’s smirking suggesting widened his grin again as the bard rolled his shoulders, feeling the press of wings beneath the skin of his back. ”I could give it a go,” he offered. ”I’m not as big as she is, but I might make a good test run.”

A pause, and he gave Sunjata a measured look. You may not want to watch this, he offered, gruff warning that he was about to take a shape he knew made the other man uneasy.

He hated this part, though. Shifting in company, with eyes upon him, and he gave himself at least a pretense of privacy – and Sunjata time to turn away or leave - by walking around to the other side of the main beam before he let the change ripple over him, silver scales and feathers overtaking skin and pale hair as clothes faded and the dragon stretched its sinuous length against the snow. Backing up to give himself room, he crouched and then leapt skyward, broad-feathered wings beating and swirling snow in a localized storm beneath him as he gained height and then drifted down to settle lightly into the moss-lined nest, peering over the edge to give Deimos a sly wink.

Not even a shake! Feels sturdy enough to me. And there’s room for more if anyone else wants to come up and help with the trial run.

Aisha felt very much the doyenne, and the mvp of the day even with only two levels, as they at last settled the nest in place. Brawn showcased, and confidence flaunted, she stepped back to marvel at the completed project. It was a throne fit for any magnificent beast, the spark bird was lucky have such a dedicated team.

She grinned at her comrades, Deimos giving his praise and offering a trial run. Jigano volunteered first, but she had no intention of being left out of the fun. And so she donned a new skin, a dappled and sun blessed skin, and the frame of a huntress. The leopardess gave a quick shake then sought to join the silver dragon upon the perch. Claws were meant for killing, but climbing too, and she made swift work of reaching the perch, with only a little help. From there she purred, glanced to Jigano with a feline wink of her own, and waited for the other attuned to join them.

The suggestion/warning Jigano gives is appreciated after they’ve set up everything, and he does exactly as Jigano suggests. A nod is granted toward the Loreseeker, then to Deimos, and a small ghost of a smirk is given toward Aisha before shifting to his own panther shift. But instead of testing it out with the dragon and the leopardess, Sunjata chooses to not stick around longer than necessary. His tail flicks behind him momentarily, and he darts away from the perch toward the VlamVloed.

Hopefully it’d be some decent karma, some thought of peace if the Sparkbird did come this LongNight, while he was nestled away comfortably in Torchline. But he needed to get a few more things first from his bar, a few more necessary things for his guild as well to continue trying to shift the headquarters elsewhere – not wanting to stay in the Grounds longer than necessary.

Some took to the mischief, dragons and leopards, and some flickered away, Sunjata’s familiar panther form walking off into the abyss. The beast’s eyes narrowed after him, and a grumbling sort of rumination conspired, lifted, trailing after the bizarre individual. Thank you for his efforts and abilities, despite the multitude of disasters usually left in the man’s wake.

Thereafter, he could turn his attention to the other two, testing sturdiness and comfort, snorting at wiles and manifestations. Releasing his stoic, reserved accord for a moment, he eased into his eagle contortions, the wild feathers rising from arms, spreading in golden coils and plumes, a wicked ascent, and then reaching down towards the edge, talons wrapping along boundaries and fringes. Very nice he brandished as nothing tipped, nothing swayed, nothing gave way. With any luck or fortune, since they regularly lacked both, the Spark Bird might have been enticed, tempted, to coast its way to the perch, to bring an end to LongNight. Perhaps their efforts wouldn’t have been in vain.

Only time and offerings would tell now.
