The best way to let go of another LongNight is alcohol.

First LongNight, Oliver drank his tiny heart out, getting so drunk that he pretty much passed out on Sunjata. This go around, this went a lot differently. For one, he was in a much better headspace in general. As well, he had his own room. Oh such a fucking blessing! Of course, the lack of monsters absolutely helped too... but so did having his own room. Many other things helped like Phoebe, Aisha.... Rance.

but then things went to hell.

He came home to find out... that Rexanna and Clemente had died...

Clem wasn't someone he was close to, but Oliver had spoke to him. The two did art together. The kid had such a fucking heart and he didn't deserve to die to the monsters-

And then Rexanna. Rexanna. The two weren't immensely close, but Oliver still saw her as a friend. She was so kind and sweet and anytime she entered a room it lit up. And Bastien- fuck. Oliver couldn't even think of how Bastien must be feeling...

Part of Oliver wanted to go and visit the Artist's home, but no. No. Instead, he visited the bar. All that lack of drinking was saving up for this moment where he rested on a chair, drinking an ale. Oliver didn't want to start out with anything too heavy, seeing as he had full plans of drinking until he knocked out. He wanted to at least have a little bit of time to think before that happened.

KORBIN
And round about his home the glory
That blushed and bloomed,
It was too warm. The first thing he did after stepping through the portal was to peel off layers of clothing, but it was not enough. Korbin kept unfastening buttons even as he stepped through the door to the bar, eyes darting around quickly to make sure he didn't run into any... eh... familiar faces. The room was too warm, as was the air in the whole entire region, and it was only with reluctance that he braved the portal to come here.

After negotiating food and lodging for a time, and having his luggage brought to the room, he looked about the room. The scent of alcohol made his skin itch with a craving he hadn't felt before. Doing his best to ignore it, he picked a table and strolled casually towards it with quiet ease. There was a young man seated there already, looking like he was trying to drown himself.

"Mind if I sit?" he asked, in a quiet, deep voice. Korbin didn't smile, but there was something easy about the way he carried himself all the same, like he was very much at home in this room, in this place, in his own skin (it was all a lie).
Is but a dim-remembered story
Of the old time entombed.

The normal sense of curiosity in Oliver was dwindling, leading to him absolutely not noticing that Korbin had even arrived. It was only when the man was just approaching that Oliver finally noticed him. Eyes flickered upward and Oliver looked at the unfamiliar man with a raised eyebrow.

Obviously, he could easily say no, but damn would that be rude. Oliver considered it for a second before finally speaking. ”Yeah, it’s free. Go ahead.” Hopefully Oliver had heard the question correctly because that would be too embarrassing of a first impression.

Right right. First impression. Now that the man had fully approached him, Oliver was able to get a good look at him and- yep. Oliver didn’t know this man at all. ”Are you new around here? I don’t recognize you. I’m Oliver.” The words slipped out. They were far from smooth or elegant but whatever. The point was made and that’s all that mattered.
