your bright eyes are gonna kill me for sure
The lass takes her time standing up, and while you have some sympathy for her plight (it's embarrassing to fall on your ass no matter the circumstances) she's gonna have to learn to live with making a fool of herself. "Aye aye, Cap'n," you reply to Jack in a sardonic tone so devoid of any respect or deference it might as well be cellophane.

Looking back to the fallen girl, you raise a brow, softening a bit as she takes your hand. "Don' mind him- turns into a right princess if he spends more'n a day on dry land." Again, there is no attempt to keep the captain from overhearing. "Name's Zeph. I stay on land and handle the adult side'a things."

Introductions done and formalities over, you head back to work replacing boards, directing the girl to areas you've yet to start in on. And if they're the slightly shittier areas, well. Gotta make sure the newbie is worth her weight in salt.

JACK
"Keep it up an' you'll be pullin' splinters out of your asscheeks for a week," Jack drawls back at Zeph, holding up the mop in a vaguely threatening manner as if to try and gauge how good it would look if he stuck it where the sun doesn't shine. Unfortunately there's still far too much to do for him to pick on the old man too much, and Jack knows every job on the Ark, from steering to deck swabbing; he makes short work of the spill that Aurelia has made.

And the duo make a surprisingly good team, as it so happens. The boards that are in less than ship-shape are soon repaired, kept out of the way of Jack's work on the deck, and soon enough the Ark has been lovingly patched up. Similar success can be seen belowdecks, and Saiden manages to get rid of the remaining spiders without too much trouble.

If only the same could be said for Melita. The honeybee girl gets herself wound around some rope - a good decision, as it would happen. With Fangorns growls, the cloud wyrms swarm, and Melita will find herself all but swinging out of the crow's nest.

"For fuck's sake," Jack mutters, peering over his sunglasses up at the girl. "That's a fuckin' creative way of dealin' with things!" he yells up at her.

Zephyr, Aurelia and Saiden are successful in their tasks, but Melita is falling out of the crow's nest! Better help her!

No post order.

just take your time wherever you go
After Saiden confirmed that the last of the spiders had been chased away, the fruit had been cleaned and rescued, and all the provision were in the right spot, he emerged above decks. Blinking in the sunlight, he shaded his eye against the glare. Peering up at the crow's nest at Jack's call, the cook's eyebrows shot up his forehead. "Huh."

He scratched under his chin with one hand as he stretched the other up towards Melita. Wind rushed out of him as he tried to push the girl back into the crow's nest, or at least relieve some of the pressure on the ropes to make it easier for her to rescue herself.

Saiden uses air magic to try and push Melita back into the crow's nest.

Air manipulation: Can manipulate the air. Must be within a 30ft radius and allows the user to levitate medium-large sized objects up to 5ft above the ground . Control is excellent.

A raucous growl filled her lungs as nothing appeared to go well at all. What had seemed like a simple, fun, amusing task had gone south quickly, and now the youth found herself not really giving a shit about the damned wyrms, and more about herself potentially being flung right out of the crow’s nest. Her hands clung tightly to the ropes, and Fangorn’s resounding grumbles solidified, fangs dangerously close to biting and snapping.

His vines too, of course, continued to wrap around her, as much as his small body could hold and maintain her weight. An eyeroll was cast in Jack’s direction at his response, enough of a moment passing for her to sneer at him from her precarious position. “I try!” She kicked and flailed a bit, attempting to get her feet back up into the nest, yearning to be firmly entrenched on wooden boards instead of meandering along the air. “Dumbass,” she murmured to herself, fingers digging and clenching.

Aurelia
and that the world is always our fault
when we did nothing, how did we do wrong?
Aurelia gives a quiet chuckle in response to the crewmate's and Jack's banter but, she keeps a snarky comment of 'don't get your panties in a wad' to herself. When the crewman introduces himself, Aurelia takes in the information gladly. It was a bit refreshing to get to know some of the people she'd be working rather closely with for... an indefinite amount of time. "Zeph. I'm Aurelia... happy to help," she offered the sentiment in good nature.

She was a bit more satisfied with how things were going on the handy side of things as they started working together. When Zeph directed her where to start, she was quick to get it done. There were no complaints about it being difficult or shitty. With a little hammering there, a whole lot of eyeballing measurements, and a bunch of nails, the ship was starting to look no worse for wear.

Aurelia had just stepped back to admire their handywork when she heard Jack start yelling. Turning, she headed back over - though she walked a bit carefully since the deck was freshly mopped. Squinting up in the direction that Jack was looking, she quickly found the source of distress. The redhaired girl was having a hard time of convincing those... things.. to leave their newly-found nest.

Before Aurelia could say anything, she heard a whoosh from behind. When she looked to where it was coming from, she realized that the burly man she'd seen earlier was actually controlling the air currents. Wind magic.

"Well, someone's gotta get up there and help her," Aurelia muttered - more to herself than Jack or Zeph - before this guy makes her fall right down. Heaving herself up the rope ladder as quickly as she could, Aurelia reached the crow's nest and hoisted herself up into it.

Once she was there, she made herself known - and she attempted to make herself scary. She snapped, "Go on, get out of here!" she reached for a pair that were preoccupied with harassing the girl and her... strange... pumpkin? What? Anyway.

Aurelia aimed to grab the wyrms by their tails as they swarmed to Melita. She could snag one in each hand; they were small enough. If she was able to manage that, she would swing them out of the crow's nest without much thought.

your bright eyes are gonna kill me for sure
Your work is done with an unsurprising amount of success, and if there's a couple little designs carved into some of the planks (and perhaps coded messages for Jack), well, who's gonna blame you at the end of the day?

Then the girl - Aurelia - is off to rescue poor Melita, and more power to the pair of them. Your ego is small enough to know that an old man with a bum arm will be no help to two spry young women, so you leave them to your devices and set off to mend sails. Again, not a skill that the uninitiated might expect, but anyone worth their salt who works on a dock is good with a needle and thread. There's always something to fix up, and depending on others is a good way to render yourself swiftly obsolete.

JACK
They all swarm to help Melita (except you, Zeph) and Jack - naturally - watches it all with amusement, leaning against the mop and admiring things from afar. "Try harder!" he suggests to the honeybee girl, only to see his newest crew member go scuttling up the rope ladder, and the tell-tale wind currents from Saiden whip past to help out. Surreptitiously (because he's not an idiot), the captain adds his own air magic to Saiden's, buffeting his efforts.

And would you look at that - it fucking works. Aurelia's appearance in the crow's nest, snapping and grabbing at the baby wyrms, does much to dissuade them from their assault. She gets a hold of two of them, flinging them away, and the rest soon follow. Their shrieks and croons are very upset indeed, but with the nest empty, Melita will have little trouble getting herself back up there. Close call, that.

"Well, since you're up there, clear that nest together!" Jack calls, before eyeing where Zeph is stitching sails with predictable aplomb. "I knew askin' you was a good idea," he drawls. "Once the girls are finished, we're all done I'd say. Grab a drink on me."

Congrats, crew! We did it! Melita and Aurelia manage to scare the wyrms away, and just need to get rid of the nest before they can relax. Saiden helped to get Mel back into the crow's nest, and Zephyr was successful (of course) and stitching up the sails.

Please leave a finishing post, and we are done!

just take your time wherever you go
As the new girl spoke, Saiden glanced her way. His eye trailed over her, and he arched an eyebrow as she scrambled up to the crow's nest. Seeing as he was helping Melita, he just shrugged and returned to his efforts with his air magic.

Thankfully, they managed to rescue the redhead. Grinning at Jack's mention of a drink, the cook slipped his hands into his pockets as he meandered over to lean against the nearest railing. Whistling as he waited for the rest of the crew (and Zephyr) to finish up their work, he glanced up at the ladies to see how they were faring clearing out the rest of the nest.

If she wasn’t in such a stupid, precarious position, Melita might’ve been embarrassed. As the situation progressed, the snark embedded itself along on a snarl, and the complete lack of accomplishment on any level. She ultimately had to be saved, instead of any other way she was used to, by the newcomer, a stranger entirely, and the air incantations hastening around her. Pushed and cajoled, and then pulled by her own strength along the railing and ropes again, the youth eventually made it back to the nest’s confines, no longer dangling around like ridiculous kite. “Thank you,” she sighed, intending to extend the acknowledgments to the men below too, when she had the chance. “Sorry. Thought I could handle it.” Which she should’ve been.

Ah, there was the shame then.

Ducking her head, pride billowed out, listening as the wyrms departed, only left her to clear the nest. Hands shaking, not quite understanding why (she’d survived a lot, and now the honeybee had been nearly felled by childish wyrms), the youth hastened to clear out the remains, and to find anything the creatures might’ve snagged from elsewhere.

Melita is deeply ashamed and helps to clear out the nest.

Aurelia
and that the world is always our fault
when we did nothing, how did we do wrong?
The wyrms made their retreat with her sudden, angry appearance. Aurelia relaxed as the last of them left. She turned to see that the girl had managed to get herself back up to the safety of the crow's nest, where the remains of the wyrm's own nest lay. Aurelia would've moved to help the other girl but, she was quicker to help herself.

"Of course," Aurelia replied, "I'm just glad you didn't fall."

As Aurelia began to help untangle bits of the nest and clear them from the crow's nest, she noticed the other girl seemed shaken - and perhaps frustrated. Aurelia slowed down a bit and watched her a little closer, to check for signs of injury or what-have-you. When she could see none, she supposed the only wounded thing this girl had was her own pride. Well, Aurelia had made a fool of her own self but, everyone had moved on from that pretty quickly. So, in an effort not to further damage the other person's pride, she said nothing as they finished up.
