TENOR
Let me serenade you with
A love song like no other
Despite the darkness above the sea, the plankton lit up the city. There was no doubt in Tenor's mind every mouth breather would be in awe at the merfolk city. The ever-glowing plankton, the coral and sand structures, made the city shine at all hours of the day. It was the perfect stage for Tenor.

Just on the edge of the grand staircase that led into the city, is where Tenor liked to perform. He didn't have a dedicated audience, his fellow merfolk didn't appreciate his talent - yet. One day he would be a star, even if the merfolk were relatively close, he wanted more. He wanted them all to know his name. He wanted to go down in merfolk history.

Deee de de, daaaaa

Images of the children above the shore came to his mind. As they sang and danced along the shore line. Their eyes lighting up when Tenor splashed them.

Deee de de, daaaaa

The children took turns showing off the lanterns they had been working on to Tenor. Each marked with a special symbol marking their family name.

Mmmmm, ba-da-da daaaaa

Tenor thought back to the children telling their stories of loss. Friends gone too soon, or family members who watched over them from up above.

Da-da-da-da, ba-da-da-da

Images of the kids lighting their lanterns, on the beach beneath the night sky brought tears to Tenor's eyes as he hummed his ballad. The children explained why they made the lanterns every year and at the festival they would send them to their loved ones in the sky.

Daaaaaa, daaaaa, daaa, da

Finishing his ballad, he returned his focus on the glowing smiles of the children above the sea. Not every song had to be a love song, nor did it have to be one of adventure. Sometimes the sweetest of songs are those from the heart.

Opening his eyes Tenor looked around the city once more. A ballad so beautiful could only be song in a place like this. Tenor knew though a song wasn't enough to show respect for the children, he wanted to make a lantern like the mouth breathers. He didn't know loss like they did, but he wanted to show he cared. Now if only he was as crafty as he was stunning.
Little will you know
It'll be our story
