The Sword hadn’t adequately inspected the training grounds during his affliction – he’d meant to, but with scores of other things to settle, like cures, like memorials, like assisting with various things surrounding the quest for the Citadel, the barracks had unfortunately gone by the wayside.

Claiming the keys, and wandering his way in, leant discoveries over several impending situations. Some explosion, perhaps last LongNight’s dilemma, had rendered it a mess towards the back, repairs certainly required to certain structures, and as he picked his way around, he noted the training grounds themselves – while a sight to behold, needed some maintenance as well. Even the armory, while suitable, had leant itself to some measure of wreckage, with the piles of metal, blades, and subsequent other armaments and munitions crowded around in various debris and disarray.

Zuriel snorted behind him, which sounded a bit like laughter through their bond, as he cast only a single heavy sigh. And while she was content to curl herself in a corner, no assistance necessary or needed from her unless someone fell into heavy tribulations, the Sword began the process, placing notice upon boards looking for steadier hands, and the invitation already extended to Aisha. It’d been done before, back in the Grounds, and he could do it again – already starting along front parlors, where maps and plans and battlements could be drawn up, eyeing the stairs, no doubt leading to some apartment he could refurbish later.

Amun had been in Halo delivering a commission when he saw the notice from the General requesting assistance in dealing with some issues in the training grounds. Interest officially piqued, the potter had asked them for directions. Heading where they indicated, he grinned when he saw Deimos standing there. "Big guy! Good to see you when I'm in my right mind."

Chuckling, the Ascended winked. "Heard you were looking for some help. Seems the least I could do given you handed me a whole guild." Nodding at the other man, Amun swept his gaze over the area, taking in what work needed to be done. Whistling, he settled in to wait for further instructions.

what will you do when the vultures come for you, run and hide?
Halo was what she had expected, and not at all. The people were mistrustful, but she could sense the bonds between them. The surrounding world was frigid, but the citadel boasted the warmth of firelight. It was not like the grounds, gray because of years of decay and colorful because of years of rebirth. It was solid, old, lived in. Somehow, Halo reminded her of her home. If it were subzero of course, and if she'd come in rather than be born to it's nobility.

Dare say, Aisha liked it.

She left that morning from her temporary lodging to continue her exploration of the city, as well as meet Deimos at the palace's training grounds. She was to help reestablish them, fix them up so that those who sought to follow the soldier's path would have a place to learn and call home. Upon arriving at the would be grounds, Aisha was met by two familiar faces. The general and the potter.

A broad grin lit her face, "Well I didn't think I'd see you here," she announced, walking over to join the men draped in the furs that had become so important within the past day alone. Her sword as always was at her side, and her hair tied up in a fountain of curls by her golden ribbon. She met the others with a friendly hand on their arms, welcoming and familiar.

There was always something to be said for those willing to put time, effort, and work into manifesting greater, grander things. Somehow, someway, there were others willing to provide labor for entanglements – and while he did the same for them – it was regarded, appreciated, for the manifestations of efficiency. Had he done this by himself, it would’ve taken days – and now, hopefully, with their authority, assistance, and abilities, it’d be countered and resolved within a matter of hours.

The General addressed Amun with a warm, dignified smile, a nod of his head as he twisted and turned towards the Ascended in the doorway. “Thank you for coming. I presume the guild is fine?” He made no mention of the earlier encounters – bore no weight on sickness and afflicted moments; gods knew he hadn’t been in his right state of mind for a time either. Aisha slipping by wasn’t a surprise, she’d been expected, and he permitted the depths of his grin to remain, for a short while at least, before they got to work.

“Let me show you what we may be up against,” not a grim outlook, but a tilt of his head to ensure there was plenty of motions to be had. He led them along the front parlor, towards the back. “Repairs,” and he pointed out the damaged structures, the places where some walls had been bowed in, and needed some sturdy, strong reinforcing. Thereafter, to the armory, an obvious mess of entangled weapons, clearly left to pick and choose at the convenience, and no order compromised into what could be fine, quality armaments. “Sorting, and I can build some shelves to ensure they all have a proper place,” and then towards the training grounds themselves, out a side door, to where the covering outlined its way into snow – its own assemblage of broken, weary looking targets, piles of drifted snow, and the general exposure to the elements. “Choose what you would like to do, and I can provide the necessary equipment.”

--

Tasks are as follows, pick one and Deimos will take the last! Grab any tools you need, Deimos will have provided them!

- Helping to repair portions of the structure, damaged from last LongNight
- Sorting through weapons; assume Deimos has put up proper shelving
- Begin cleaning up the training grounds portion, starting with either the targets, snowdrifts, or cracked, exposed walls

We’ll move to the next round when everyone’s posted! Success will be determined by dice roll for funsies!

Nodding at Deimos' question, Amun grinned. "In need of a bit of upkeep and maybe some new members, but overall fine. You left it in good shape." As Aisha approached, he turned to face her, raising an eyebrow. "I could say the same about you," he pointed out.

As the General began to lay out the instructions the potter fell silent. "I'll take the weapons." Giving the woman a wave, he went back inside. While the other man set up the shelving, the Ascended perused the weapons. Whenever he found one that was damaged or in need of repair, he laid a hand on it and activated his upgrade. The metal parts, at least, would seem to ripple and fix themselves.

Amun picks the weapons! He uses his metal manipulation upgrade to repair anything that was damaged.

Aisha's good spirits were bolstered and returned, and then the trio got right to business. Just like it used to be, she mused, a welcome familiarity in the hearth of the tundra city. Deimos lead the swordsman and the potter through all the tasks, sorting and repairing weapons, repairing walls, and cleaning up the grounds themselves. Amun had his ascended tricks and was suited for the armory job, and Aisha figured Deimos and all his magic could easily take on the structural repairs.

And so she chose the grounds, "I got the grounds," she claimed, a broad grin on her face and her hands on her hips. Soon after they were situated they broke from each other and began to work. Aisha would start with the dummies and targets, she started by collecting any stray straw or filling, repositioning any stick or logs to the structures themselves, and putting the targets back together so they could be of good use.

Aisha takes the training grounds and starts by putting the targets back in order.

Choices made, decisions honed, and the Sword left them to their tasks, considering them both capable, and not requiring him to stand around, survey, loom, or orchestrate. Instead, he straightened his stride and motioned towards the only assignation left; regarding the repair work necessary for bowed structures. Perhaps it was wise to have started out in his furs, for he began to dismantle the inner and outer workings of the wall, exposing the barracks to the cold once more as he began the assimilations, tearing apart the broken, dilapidated structure, and beginning to place more beams, more wooden frames, back into their confinements. No magic melded or molded, just yet, though he took suitable pauses to gather more beams and timber, Zuriel tilting her head in study – success and fortune in the carving of muscles, in the meticulous designation of brawn.

Amun would have similar success and luck – the weaponry perused over, damaged, and distorted would become immaculate, as if it had never suffered under the wrath of other blades or armaments. Rippling accords, Ascended upgrades, would polish the silver into regal condition, nearly brand new in their scruples, ready to be drawn again. Now all that was left was the sorting – from swords to daggers, from bows to shields, form any other particularly decent findings and scraps along the way.

Aisha, despite her best efforts, would find them waylaid. The spirit of the targets wasn’t in accord with hers. Maybe they were far too weary, far too disassembled, or couldn’t stand one more movement, one more siege. Even as she placed the filling, strands became unwound, fabric disintegrated, and some merely fell over in more pieces than where they’d started (a singular, irritating specimen deigning to land on her ankle). Perhaps it wasn’t worth the repairs, and she should’ve started anew? Fresh?

--

Deimos and Amun are successful in their tasks, while Aisha’s could use a little work.

Amun can begin sorting! Deimos will continue to restructure the wall, and Aisha might have to start the whole target creation over.

PQ will move on once everyone posts!

Grinning as the damaged weaponry began to take shape under his hands, Amun began to whistle. However, he soon ran out of things to repair. Glancing over at the shelves, he looked between them and the piles of weapons a few times. Finally, he squared his shoulders and began to sort.

His goal was to not only put the weapons away, but to leave them in some semblance of order. So he started with bladed weapons: swords, daggers, knives, everything with an edge to it was put in the first set of shelves. Once that was done, he start on the blunt instruments, maces, staves, batons, and everything else that fit into that category.

Amun begins to sort and put away the weapons, starting with blades. If successful in putting them away, he'll move on to blunt weapons.

Ah, what a perfect way to start the day. Fucking up on the simplest of tasks. Apparently she'd overestimated the condition that the existing targets were in, and underestimated the skill it took to put them back together. Gods, please never let Aisha near any fine creations ever, nor let her think she can create them. These hands are meant for stabbing war craft, not arts and crafts.

"I feel like I popped a blood vessel holy fuck," she snarled as her last attempt ended in sticks plunking into the snow at her feet. The FUCK is this so hard for? She dropped the remains of the target and ran her hands through her hair, shaking out the burning frustration that tingled at her fingertips. Okay, back track, time to start over. With a deep breath and the willpower of a million soldiers, Aisha started separating the bits that seemed salvageable from the complete and utter trash, then went to get some new sticks and straw and other materials from what was provided.

Then she started from scratch, bringing the Aisha's targets 2.0 vision to reality with steadier fingers and more motivation. After all she'd been through with these little fuckers, she'd be damned if they didn't come out looking fresher than a pillow with a mint on top.

LOL aisha starts the targets from scratch!

Successes proclaimed and rang their heads now, easier motions, a fluidity to their triumphs and victories, no matter how small, great, or grand. With Amun’s metallic interlacings, he made short work of any other repairs, and started making sense and semblance of the chaos lingering within the armory. The serrated contortions gave no fight to their different assignations, none of them falling out of a distracted grasp, none of them coming back to bite or haunt; placed neatly amidst their new homes. The blunt instrument too were arranged well with no anguish clambering upon them, neat, efficient, and granted, given, a new order that anyone entering would appreciate. Now all that was left was the armor itself to deal with – laying in a variety of pieces on the floor, and, that hadn’t been given the care they so rightly deserved.

Maybe Aisha’s growling, menace, and temper eventually set the targets to rights and order. Willpower, grit, and some mettle honed in on her methods, eventually ensured the trash discarded, materials capable of being re-used rendered in their proper adornments, and the figures, the goals, the effigies, could be tangible munitions again. They stood upright, firm, and tall, and she should’ve been proud of their regards, had she likely not wanted to throttle them herself (all in due time, of course). The rest of the training grounds remained much the same – and she’d be able to maneuver the targets elsewhere, in order to concentrate on the hole in the wall, or the massive amount of snow in the corner.

The Sword had already ascended a ladder and pieced together portions the old-fashioned way, hammer and nail, loud measures echoing from the timed movements, content with the process. Now and again he’d maneuver over slightly, replacing boards and beams, lining up in scrupulous factions and fragments, certain he wanted it to be the most stable and secure that he could compose and orchestrate; not intending to go through this on multiple occasions. Thereafter, he could begin replacing the boards for the wall itself, rolling up his sleeves, grabbing hold of timber, and re-enacting the efforts.

--

Everyone rolled very nicely!

Deimos is continuing to re-structure the wall.

Aisha has successfully made her targets, and can move onto moving snow or figuring out how to fix the hole in the wall.

Amun has sorted the weapons very nicely, and can start on sorting the armor. I bet its gross. :/

Strangely enough, Amun hadn't encountered any problems along the way yet. Squinting at the weapons, he waited for the shelves to topple or collapse or some other calamity, but nothing happened. Shrugging, he turned his attention to the armor.

Once again, he'd repair any metal bits that needed it as he went along with his upgrades. Sorting the armor by material first (leather, metal, cloth), once he'd done that, he'd begin to place them in their appropriate spots. Whistling as he went, he made sure to place each piece of the armor carefully. As he did, he once again braced himself for any sign of calamity.

Amun sorts the armor, repairing any metal bits that need it with his upgrade as he goes.

The complete and utter satisfaction that comes with being less inadequate than you are originally (because lets not go so far as to say the final targets looked good), that is an absolutely golden feeling. She finished tying up the final dummy, sturdy enough and certainly dumb looking enough. Oh how great it would feel to wack that fucker to pieces. "I brought you into this world and I will take you out," she said for her own cynical amusement, pressing a finger into the target's center and watching it wobble.

Alright, with that good as done, it was time to do something else to the yard. Try and fill the hole, or clear the snow. Fixing the hole seemed like an equally irritating task, one that she might end up pawning off on one of the magician men over yonder. So instead she went for the snow, grabbing a shovel that leaned against the wall and a wheelbarrow, and started shoveling. Just like mulch. (shoveling mulch is a very satisfying task that chachy enjoys, aisha only moderately enjoys it and does it while grudgingly still thinking about those stupid targets)

Aisha starts shoveling the snow into a wheelbarrow to take outside the training ground walls!

Structures adhered, timber in place, nails rapt and tapped with precision, and before long, the bowed adornments had been molded and mauled back into a formidable wall. He stepped back, surveying, checking, orchestrating, until finally it seemed accomplished, finished. With a grateful breath, he assembled his tools in an orderly set, intending to grab them later, depending on everyone else’s circumstances, and then went to check in on the others.

Poking his head into the armory, the Sword was impressed with Amun’s repair work and arrangement – the shelves neatly stocked, in order, with the clarity of serrations, blunter edges, and then the armor. “Well done.” He meant it within the low rumbles and widened eyes, because it’d been a mess, and to put everything together in a short amount of time was no small feat. “We can check in on Aisha.” Amun’s work had been done there anyway, and he waited for the Ascended to agree, before maneuvering out towards the training grounds.

Where…some nuances had clearly gone efficiently, and others not so much, the warrior finally meeting her match. Deimos did very well withholding a genuine laugh at the targets, and then Aisha, whose shoveling and wheelbarrow tactics would ordinarily signify everything in proper order. Except the wheelbarrow seemed to have a mind of its own (or loose hinges, a shifty wheel; it could’ve been anything at this point), and had fallen along its side, upending all the efforts and piles already instilled. Standing along the doorway, awaiting some amount of fire and vitriol to come their way, he managed to not erupt in a round of chuckles, though the amused grin might’ve given him away. “Where would you like us?” Since the training grounds had become her charge, after all.

what will you do when the vultures come for you, run and hide?
For some reason, this whole endeavor was an absolute mess, things were literally falling apart, anyone would've been embarrassed with the state of work she'd accomplished thus far. But Aisha found the humor in it, in the irony and the frustration and the state of abandon she felt towards such a simple task.

The traces of a snarl as the wheelbarrow toppled over, reaching out as if she could grab it in time. And as it flew from her grasp she raised her hand to her face and sucked in a deep seething breath, covering her eyes as a beaten smile tugged at her lips. It was too ridiculous to not be funny, this last upheaval tipping the scales to a humorous favor. She stood for a moment snickering to herself, the hilarity she found in it fighting off the groan that threatened at the notion of starting over.

A voice pulled her from her surrender, she turned her head to find both of her comrades watching the disaster unfold. "No no, go ahead, laugh. I'm aware," she snorted, letting loose a deep sigh and placing her hands on her hips. The fervor and anger melted into something softer, she was thankful to have their help now, maybe they could finish these damned grounds. "Deimos if you could magic that hole in the wall or something, that'd be great," she said, tossing a gesture towards the crumbled structure.

Then to Amun, "You and me are gonna start this over, unless you have any better ideas." She tossed him the shovel and then grabbed the wheelbarrow, checking the bottom prior to using it again to make sure there were no functional damages. Just bad luck it seemed, and with a sigh she started again, pulling the thing back to its feet then grabbing another shovel.

Aisha asks Deimos to work on the hole in the wall, and enlists Amun in helping shovel the snow (checks the wheelbarrow to make sure it isn't broken loll).
