Hello all!

Some of you have expressed interest in submitting ideas for new flora/fauna as well as board descriptions! Though we don't want to give away too much of what is coming up, we'd definitely love your creativity!

Remember, there is no rush for this. Ya'll need to get yourselves out of the barrier, and even then the entire map won't be available to you.

Below you will find a list of biomes as well as how large they are, ranging from "small" (probably just a main board with a sub board or two), "medium" ( few boards with sub boards), or "large" (which is similiar in scope to the Hollowed Grounds). Please make it clear if you are submitting flora or fauna or a board description (linking an image from Unsplash that fits with your idea would be super helpful for board descriptions!) and for which biome.

If you have questions, feel free to nudge Odd or Honey. If your ideas are chosen we will let you know (please don't ask us).

Biomes (in no particular order)
  • Magical Foresty Land - Medium
  • Deserty area - Small/Medium
  • Mountain Range - Medium
  • Tundra - Small (has a city like The Hollowed Grounds)
  • Swampish area - Medium
  • Jungle Area - Small/Medium
  • Rocky/Cliffs - Large (has a city like The Hollowed Grounds)
  • Tropical Islands - Large (has a city like The Hollowed Grounds)
  • Grassy general plains - Small
  • Volcanic region - Small

Flora: (across Caido? Or wherever you want to slap them)
Ice Berries - A fruiting plant that grows only in Deepfrost, ice berries are clear and crystalline except for a single drop of color at their center. They grow in small clusters on winding greyish-brown vines that begin to curl around small trees in Leafchange, reaching towards the moonlight, and flower at the start of Deepfrost, small crystalline blossoms often lost in the first snowfall. They begin to fruit just before Long Night, producing a crop of delicious berries around the size of blackberries but smooth and chill to the touch. The clear outer shell is crisp and mildly tart, melting quickly when exposed to any source of warmth or removed from their vine. The inner center packs a strong, sweet flavor in its colorful liquid droplet, as well as tiny seeds that often go unnoticed. Once Flowerbirth starts the warm weather melts the remaining berries and the vines die back for another year.
The color at the center of an ice berry ranges from bright red to dark purple to pale blue. Multiple colors can be found on a single vine or cluster, and some claim that they can taste a difference between them, but the one color to avoid is the dark purple. These berries taste the sweetest, but serve as a powerful emetic, inducing upset stomach and vomiting soon after they are eaten.

Flora
Cindereed- A rough, dry, yellow grass that grows in clumps, it can be quite thick and tall, and many clumps can be found growing together. It favours very hot climates or places where wildfires are common, due to its method of releasing its seeds. In the centre of each bunch, a stalk grows with several dark shiny seed pods on it, in high temperatures these pods explode and scatter new seeds in a wide radius.

Fauna (The Greatwood)

Elephant Beetle: A relatively unintelligent, giant black beetle that cannot fly. Males grow long tusks and both adult genders grow to around 4 foot. Though their brains are particularly small in proportion to their size, they are capable of carrying several times their own body weight and are commonly found around Fae villages where they labour in exchange food. These beetles can shift objects with their tusks and though slow, can be ridden or pull carts.

Fauna (Greatwood)

Pixies: Little sprites with blue skin and golden eyes, pixies are vaguely humanoid in terms of being bipeds that grow to be about 6 inches in height. Their wings look like leaves, and they have long curling antennae running down their spines which taper into tails. As mischievous as they are beautiful, pixies are gifted with illusion magic and the ability to cast short-lived hexes on passers by. These vary from harmless things such as making individuals speak only in rhyme to potentially more dramatic cases, like causing strangers to fall in love. Hexes are only cured with time, and their duration is generally one thread.

Blushberry Bush: a smallish bush with bright blue flowers during Leafchange and clusters of bright yellow, edible berries during Frostfall. When eaten, a chemical in the berries causes cheeks to blush and obvious bashfulness in behaviour.

The Whispershore Wader: is a long-beaked bird, not unlike a domestic chicken in stature and it is named for its beautiful, thick feathers which are coloured like the gemstones of Whispershore. They are most commonly found in the reeds along The Stonesong and are intelligent, persistent, and cursed with an insatiable appetite. This greedy creature is easily charmed with freshly caught fish and has a tendency to follow fisherman (or anyone), and raid their catch.
used!

Rock Slider: an enormous, toothless serpent (no less than three full-sized humans in length), with small, flightless-wings where one would presume its ears to be. This creature hunts along rocky mountain paths where it lies, well-camouflaged, before ambushing large prey. It has no venom, instead coiling its length around the victim and strangling it.

Blind Swamp Rat: a vicious rodent with large fangs. This aggressive monster hunts in family groups of five to ten, and though at first glance they don’t appear particularly frightening, the danger lurks in their putrid saliva. Even a graze from their teeth can lead to a swift infection and lethal septicaemia.

Tropical islands:
Cloud Mantas: Ranging from the size of a large dinner plate to a wingspan nearly six feet across, cloud mantas have flattened, ray-like bodies, narrow, delicate heads with two large dark eyes, and flowing-finned tails that are reminiscent of betta fish or scallop-edged leaves. They are equally comfortable underwater and flying through the air, and often travel in groups of 5 to 20, depending on size of individuals. The species varies in shades of blues and grays with paler underbellies, but most notable are the large green splotches across the upper surface of their bodies and 'wings' which are filled with chlorophyll and photosynthesize both food and oxygen for the creatures. Gentle and graceful, these plantimals also make meals of mosses and lichens, scraping them off rocks near water with small mouths located on the underside of their heads. As a cloud manta ages a colorful crystal grows in the middle of its forehead, comprised of excess minerals that it purifies out of its body. If worn pressed against the throat in a choker or collar, these crystals are said to allow someone to breathe underwater.

Blink Hares
A species of small fat rabbits, usually with piebald colouring. At first glance, they seem helpless, being clumsy and poor at running, but when they are in danger they can teleport short distances to evade hunters. Usually no further than ten feet, but hey are trickery, often reappearing in different directions than the ones they disappeared into.
