Deimos, it seemed, did not have anything to say about Frey. Noah did not press the issue - Deimos had been forthcoming with him the entirety of their relationship, despite its newness, and Noah appreciated that. If Deimos had something to say about the herald, he was sure that it would be shared. "Will she mind if I tie this up there?" Noah asked, gesturing to Zuriel and her pack that Deimos had placed on her. He had observed the unicorn to be quite a proud creature, and he had enough respect for her to ask before he placed the bundle of flowers.

Eira, returned from her frolicking through the fields and her exploration, glided toward the pair of men again. She chirped and trilled, flashes of Zuriel appearing in Noah's mind. The hunter's eyebrows knit together with confusion, and he looked to the griffin. Why was she projecting images of the unicorn to him? Eira landed just before Noah, and as her back paws hit the ground, Zuriel lifted her head and called out.

Oh Noah thought, turning to look out towards where the dark mare looked. His eyebrows lifted in surprise, in curiosity, and he took a step forward, the rolling thoughts taking over his mind again. "Maybe they know what lifted the storm." Noah wondered aloud, glacier eyes looking to the side for a moment at Zuriel. What would the mare do?

I carried my own ashes to the mountains
At the question, his eyes went first to the bundle of flowers, extending to the pack, and then the mare herself in one rounding multitude and maneuver. A silent inquiry flickered through from bonded to companion, and the equine tilted her head, far too distracted by the creatures in the distance to worry over the fronds. “Should be fine.” He made room amongst and amidst the packs adorned on her sides, ensuring there was ample room for the tying of stems and strands.

Belial was nearly beside himself, angling along the Sword’s legs as they neared, and Zuriel’s entire form stilled – calling once more. Ears pricked, conformed to a full body stance where one wasn’t certain whether it would be flight, fight, or something else mottled in between. In return came distant cries in answer, and Deimos allowed another smile to meander along the corners of his mouth. “Depends. The herd we encountered was lost within it.” Maybe these had never gone that length. Maybe these were simply wild. Maybe they knew anything and everything. “We can try to ask,” he pondered – reaching his hand into the mare’s mane, a gentle, reassuring gesture as they began to meander forward again, towards the band dotted upon the landscape.

Noah tied the bundle quickly, feeling the tense muscles beneath Zuriel's skin as he did. The mare was so alert, all of the companions were, but her especially. These were her kin, as distant they surely did not know, but still kin.

Eira chirped and danced around Noah, Deimos, and Belial, feeding off the energy from the other two companions. Her golden eyes were wide and bright, and her tail whipped this way and that with her full curiosity. The fur at the base of her tail puffed, and the feathers around her nape stood on end. She was not really sure what was happening, in her young age, but she felt all of the energy of the group.

"Do non-companion unicorns communicate with words?" Noah asked, totally unaware that an attuned could have the strength of ability to speak to such creatures. He knew that animals without much magic were easy to communicate with, to call, to command, but the idea of something so pure in magical energy such as a unicorn being able to be communicated with over attuned links was something the hunter hadn't fathomed.

Zuriel did well not to immediately bolt off – perhaps staying at the Sword’s side through loyalty and bonds, rather than hastening into the fertile greenery, hooves clattering into the wake of their illustrious haze. He could feel the tension, the excitement, and layers upon layers laden in and amongst her existence though – every spark of thought, every encouraging nuance. It must’ve been nice for her to see more of her kind, considering there were only a few others they’d ever come across. The herd from the storm had been calmed by her presence, and maybe the same could happen here, and more; like a transfer of information.

At Noah’s question though, he muffled a little laugh, light, passing through on the wind as they continued their slower approach. Justifiable in their range of strides, no matter how rattled the other companions were, presuming a swift cataclysm would ensure the unicorns were unnerved, and would take flight immediately. Eventually, his answer came on another quiet rumble. “I can attempt to communicate with them.” A shrug hastened through his shoulders; memories of trials and tribulations with the leviathan springing to mind – it hadn’t given any earnest answer. “I have done it before with other animals.” Like the water horse along the Mistbanks, which had far more forthcoming in its speech. He tilted his head towards Noah as they walked, pressing his long limbs into the soil, into the grass, keeping pace with Zuriel. "Have you ever tried?"

The hunter's eyebrows knit together. "No, I haven't." He answered quite simply. In reality, when he was faced with an opportunity for him to attempt such an action, his mind was too crowded with what else needed to be done for him to try. There was little time to work through a plan when your life was on the line out on the tundra.

As the men and companions approached, there was a sudden shift in the wind. A large, dark unicorn lifted its head from the lush grass and locked its eyes on them. It was beautiful, and made Noah stop in his tracks even at the distance he was. It's nostrils flared and its tail lifted, and within seconds it turned and bolted for the closest hill. The rest of the herd followed, and Noah felt his heart drop.

"Maybe we'll see them again, if we follow the river." Noah commented, the disappointment thick on his voice despite his hopeful words. Eira glided down and landed on his shoulder, curling around his neck some and running her beak through his hair.
