They are mostly Ascended, and so there is no need for lanterns or candles. All the better, truly, after what had happened at the infirmary. Moonlight spills in through all available windows, however, filling the Temple with its ghostly illumination, and Isla arranges her offerings around the altar before stepping back to stand with her head bowed and her hands clasped before her.

"Great lady," she murmurs softly into the night. "I come tonight to speak on behalf of all of your children within the Hollowed Grounds - even those who are not yet bright with your radiance. After much discussion, we would seek to make what was once a prison into something that might protect us instead. We wish to use the Spire to watch over the Grounds."



This thread is to start a regional quest for the Hollowed Grounds during Leafchange 312 PC.

Isla (with Bastien's agreement), will be negotiating to turn the Spire into a defensive BADASS ELECTRIC CANNON weapon.

Feel free to have your characters join, but it's completely optional! I'll leave this open until 25/07 for responses before putting it up for an answer!

This time, she is nothing more than set dressing. A shadowy figure in the background with minimal responsibility (other than, you know, being the General and this a quest for a weapon) - so, speaking responsibility, that is. Wessex comes up behind Isla and makes enough noise to let the Remedy know she’s there, sliding off to one side to lean against something. A silent presence in the night.

Her arms cross over her chest as she settles in to wait for their beloved Lady to appear, curious about how Isla interacts with The Voice. The relationships of her siblings and their mother-figure has always been what feels like a taboo kind of fascination to the demigod.

Interesting how many times she had said how she hated this Temple shrine, and yet they kept calling her here. Still, she appears of course, looking as radiant and coiled with electricity as ever.

"It pleases me greatly to see you working so well together." She says by way of greeting, nodding to Isla and Wessex both. "Never has our family been stronger, though as you rightly point out, the Grounds could use some work." Because the ascended had little need of creature comforts or food production, it was no surprise the Grounds, already a bit archaic, had been left to fall into rubble and ruin.

'In order to weaponize the Spire...there are two routes we might take. One is a single, focused blast. Capable of doing deadly amounts of damage. It would be slow to fire and would impact only a single area with devastating effects. The second would be to have it deal far less damage, though over a greater area.' Pausing, the Voice's eyes drift back and forth between the two.

Isla feels her shoulders relax as the Voice appears, the Remedy offering a small smile over her shoulder at Wessex, grateful for her presence. Bathed in the twilight of the electricity that bathes their goddess, she listens and nods her agreement with the given assessment. "We have already established that the Grounds is a safe place for our family - it makes sense to turn it into a place people are proud to be a part of."

Granted, a weaponised Spire isn't exactly an aesthetic change. But it's a start. Furrowing her brow at the choice the Voice gives them, Isla glances once more to the Wraith, as if trying to gauge her opinion before offering her own. "There are merits to both. If it was only to be used in a time of great need, having it singularly focused would be a boon," she admits.

'Then singularly focused it shall be. I will leave it up to our family to decide the method by which the weapon is activated.' Would the power be in the hands of just a few, who, in a time of need, might not be around? Would it be centrally located where any could push it, perhaps to the detriment of those who would rather think first?

"After this is complete...perhaps we should think about...changing this place. Perhaps a shrine could be erected in the Spire and then we'd have no need for this Temple and all the horrors that have occurred within its walls." Food for thought.

So saying, a pulse of electricity dazzles from the Voice's palms, striking both Isla and Wessex such that they would leave her presence feeling invigorated and replenished.

Tasks. There is no time limit. There are currently 12* active Grounders. This means 6 unique characters have to participate. Characters can participate more than once. Bastien and Isla must participate in at least 2 threads each, Wessex must participate in at least 1.

1. A PQ of 4 characters removing debris from the Spire
2. 1 thread sourcing metal and having it fashioned into a lightning rod, and 1 thread attaching the lightning rod to the top of the Spire
3. A ME discussing how to trigger the attack ( should leaders have a button, should there be a central switch someone anyone can press, should there be a tracking device you attach to someone so that it specifically targets them, etc etc)
