DEIMOS
The sound of iron shots is stuck in my head
The thunder of the drums dictates
They forged onward, as all good Monster Hunters should. Nephele tackled her window from a different angle, and finally, it gave way, though not before stubbornly knocking out a single pane that imminently crashed – and she was likely going to have to clean that up too. But for the rest of her efforts, the rest adhered to her requests, sliding outwards, and were subsequently replaced. Once she had taken care of the broken shards, she’d be able to move onto another task.

Shaye, and by extension Sylvia, seemed to struggle with rearranging; the furniture obstinate and lumbering, and it took a considerable effort to move the pieces into place. The women would likely find themselves a bit winded from the semblances, but luckily the couches could be a nice rest spot while everyone else finished up.

Paige and Belial were another intriguing saga – the peryton wrinkling his little deer nose as the youth noted his lack of thumbs. However, she was rewarded with her attempts at opening the door, and though the aperture desperately yearned to stick in some places, a few hard shoves completed the job, and she’d be able to discover what was inside. Belial had zero hesitation in rushing forward, and into the room they could go – which had clearly been a storage area, with shelving lined up. The supplies were long gone, and the rest of it entirely vacant. Maybe the youth could offer up suggestions for its use?

The Sword’s attempts continued along prior veins, ripping up old boards, replacing them with new, or washing over the scorched marks of otherwise fine woodwork. Unbothered, save for facing quiet demons and foolish notions, he was able to complete it all with little trial or tribulation, and then eventually, could gather everyone back together to go over a new set of parameters and details. With a moment of repose provided, and some snacks on one of the tables too.

“Things are coming along well,” and he made no glance to anyone in particular over broken glass or tenacious furnishings – considering he’d been the one to cause a multitude of damage in the facility in the first place. Consulting his list, his eyes scanned for the parchment. “We need to organize living quarters,” and he pointed upward, to where some rooms had been situated. “Establish an armory,” in a space on the first floor, preferably. “I would like a bulletin board here,” and he indicated along the entrance, so they could post noteworthy information, comings and goings, and any leads on potential threats. “Some journals need to be copied over as well.” So there would be more than one readily accessible.

From there, the soldier inclined his head towards Paige and his companion, who simply hooted. “Did you find anything?”

--

Tasks were completed relatively successfully, and now we have some new ones!

- Two to organize living quarters
- One to find a place for an armory (Deimos has already created a bunch of weapons, feel free to snag ‘em)
- Create a bulletin board near the entrance
- Copy over some journals with info about various animals

First come, first serve, Deimos will pick whatever’s leftover!

Sylvia has been skipped for this round but may join back in.

you will always be a monster

Broken shards at least signify progress, and so the Meadowhawk sets about cleaning them up first in case anyone wanders over - like the child. Children have an interesting habit of trying to off themselves at any given opportunity, and Nephele doesn't want to make it any easier to achieve.

The rest of the windows are not nearly so persnickety, and once the glass is dumped in the bins placed for the duration of the remodel, Nephele ensures they are removed and stacked against one another on the outside of the building. Too large for bins, but they could be readily used or traded in town for those who could utilize the surviving glass.

As the next list of tasks is supplied, Neph is quick to jump to her own favored one this time. "I have an abundance of experience with tomes, I would be happy to transcribe them." She is gentle with the books as they are given to her, not quite reverent but close to it. Setting up in a corner away from the others, she sets about writing down the information, handwriting neat and flowing.

Paige

Paige gives a slow turn about the room and there is no hiding her disappointment at finding it utterly empty. Whoever was close enough would likely feel it along the bond as she heaves a heavy sigh that makes her shoulders sag. "I thought it was definitely going to have secret stuff in it... Oh well, guess it could be for weapons and stuff." Paige turns to Belial as if waiting for his input on that matter before she nods sagely, "You're right. It is boring." With nothing else to be found, Paige pushes out of the room with her borrowed companion hot on her heels, barely stopping herself from running right into Deimos's legs.

"There is a room up there that use to hold things. No secrets though." The last part is muttered and she's clearly put out by this. How dare there not be any secrets to find. That just wasn't fair! "It could be for weapons or something." Her shoulders lift in a little shrug offering the suggestion freely, spotting the various weapons that are already here. Spears, swords, axes... All much larger than herself. Her eyes light up and she grins, rushing that way and picking up the closest thing. An axe that she can barely lift more than half a foot off the ground so it doesn't drag.

Clearly she intends to move the weapons herself.

Paige suggests using the room for weapons and picks up an axe to take upstairs.

While the rest divided and conquered, a swift nod given to Nephele for her expertise in transcription, his eyes widened as he watched Paige try to utilize the armory for her own means and measures. Especially carrying an ax. Withholding a sigh and a wince at all the possible ways this could go horrifically wrong, he instead followed her towards the designated arsensal. The rest could wait.

Deimos trailed after Belial’s excited machinations, picking up several more of the armaments in his grasp, and stepped methodically into the room – considering shelving, where to place certain things. High, if the sharpened, serrated edges were to be out of Paige’s reach. He pointed out several pieces of armor and shields that could likely be moved by her tenacious wiles, and the ledges and brackets they could occupy – shoving a footstool her way. “Can you put those here?” Plucking the ax out of her grasp, he moved it higher, purposefully.

Nephele, meanwhile, unbothered by anyone else, would find her notes successfully tended to, and scripted in fine, legible proportions. Perhaps she’d gained some newfound wisdom from all of it too – and then could pick another task when she was ready.

Due to time constraints and real-life stuff, Sylvia and Shaye have been skipped for this round but can jump back in at any time!

Nephele has put together the journals, and Deimos and Paige have worked on the armory!

Please pick from the following:
- Create a bulletin board from the entrance
- Organize living quarters

Deimos will help with the living quarters!

Paige

If you asked Paige she would insist that she had things covered with moving the weapons. She was a big girl, thank you very much! So what if she's dragging the ax across the floor and leaving little gouges in the wood? It was still getting done, wasn't it? Still, Deimos insists on helping to which she gives an exasperated sigh, arching a brow and looking him over as if to guage that he was actually capable . "Fine. You can help." The young Attuned says, heading into the room as he follows behind her.

Once inside it's very easy to put things places. Are they completely neat and straight? No, but she tries and everything finds a home eventually. She does note with some distain that he puts the real weapons up high. A problem for the future.

Paige scurries back down the stairs, going over to the blank bulletin board, hands on her hips as she considers the task. Having only seen a few things around Torchline and the one Molten Tiger that chased her and Ever in the Celestine leaves her with fairly limited knowledge of monsters. It doesn't stop her for making flyers. There is one with a somewhat accurate description of a ghost whale that reads like this.

Size: Ginormous
Locaytion: Water
Weekneses: None. It's a ghost.
How to fight it: Spears?
Rewards: Not dying

There are a few more done in the same fashion for a few different creatures that definitely are more artistic interpretations than accurate depictions. She pins them all up proudly under a colorfully scrawled 'Monster Hunter Guild' banner that lines the top.

you will always be a monster

It is a delightful task, one made all the more so by the quiet her little corner affords her. Still close enough to the others to hear the murmur of their voices and shuffling of their efforts, but untouched by their company and questions. The parchment is thick and clearly of good quality, and the ink doesn’t stutter or coagulate. By time she has reached the end of the papers to transcribe she has lulled herself into a peaceful trance, and coming out of it is disorienting. Still, they are near the end of their work, and now is not the time to give up.

The idea of a bulletin board is one she wholeheartedly agrees with. Someplace to pin notes, maps, and tips and sightings from locals. Finding the right material is the only real hardship. Cork is plentiful but has to be created into sheets. So instead she finds soft, thin wood, and begins to craft a frame for it so that a wire can be strung along the back for it to be hung upon a nail.

DEIMOS
The sound of iron shots is stuck in my head

Armory as good as it was going to get (for now – the perfectionist in Deimos wasn’t going to allow for haphazard placement of armory anywhere), the remaining hunter constituents foiled together to instill the last of the tasks. While the Sword tended to the living quarters, simple, modest, and probably leaving much in the wake of décor, Nephele and Paige wound their way towards the bulletin board. As the younger depicted pictures of monsters she’d probably never seen, the Fae worked tirelessly to ensure everything else was well tended.

All in all, by the end of it, everything worked. And that was enough for now.

Permitting another moment of either a snack break or simply surveying their efforts, Deimos allowed a slight grin to flicker back over his features. No matter the amount of damage once caused, he doubted anyone would be able to recognize what had occurred – even if the memories lasted. Nor that this was once a unit for spies.

Instead, it’d be for wisdom, growth, and some upholding of protection. Not the kind he’d always warranted in other wakes and lands, but similar just the same. With a long breath, he nodded towards the assistants. “This is ready. Thank you once again.”

And with that, the Monster Hunters were re-established.

This PQ is complete! Thank you everyone for your participation! We’ll be off for hunting soon enough! <3
