Lena
and sweetest in the gale is heard
and sore must be the storm
A familiar voice caused her attention to wander away the verdantry and greenery for a moment, features rounding back into a smile as she noted the mermanta once more. Her cordial voice followed afterwards. “Hello Hadama.” Her eyes glanced at the proferred goods, arching a brow in curiosity, because she wasn’t certain what merpeople would bring to a festival, but politely refrained from peeking and being too nosey. “Sure.”

Thereafter, she did just as she’d asked, placing the waterproof bag upon the table. “Would you like a plant too?” She considered after a moment – figuring some had to be relegated for the sea.

Tal was so focused on keeping an eye out across the festival grounds that he wasn't paying attention to who came up on him at the seed table. The courier jerked in surprise at the voice that seemed to appear next to him and he looked up at Deimos guiltily.

"Uh. What? Me? Nothing..." But Deimos was a friend, not some stranger, and the courier winced and amended. "...Nothing important, I guess. Just Sah bein' Sah." He glanced towards Mel again and sighed, forcing his attention away and down to the table in front of them.

"Hey, d'you think the Flowerbirth god would like it if we planted some seeds for 'im near his well?" he asked instead, desperately trying to change the subject.

NOAH
set a fire for tomorrow
set it to your woes
Noah does not hesitate to follow Cordelia as she moves to fulfill his suggestion. He is quite careful, actually, to keep close to her. The stories of this world’s precious festivals lingered in his mind. The faster they could be done here, the sooner they could meet Deimos and the others, finish their hunt, and be back home.

That was the hunters ultimate goal: to be back home.

As his lover set their sweet bread out for the others that would come and gather, Noah smiled at her and then turn her hand to leave. He didn’t think finding Deimos would be too hard at this point, and they had rodents to eradicate.

Maeve

It was a quick little trip, scoping out the festival, picking up some seeds, and making a plan to come back later with her own sweet treats. There wasn't anyone she recognized currently milling about and the Nightshade was grateful for that. If only because she didn't feel up to much conversation. Finding a stall that was selling fruit saplings was rather easy and Maeve quickly selected a few citrus saplings, deciding that they would do the best in Torchline's typically tropical climate.

Collecting the saplings and offering the vendor a few pearls in return, the queen loads up her purchases and slips through the crowd, intent on returning home.

Maeve gets her saplings and plans to come back later!

Wessex audily snort-laughs when she sees the sign. Liat Fux. Someone’s still got a sense of humor around here, and fuckin’ good for them. Her contribution, wrapped in waxed paper and yet still dripping some meat juices, seems wholly edible and grand in light of what sits on the table, which… she finds herself wrinkling her nose at. Even for someone who doesn’t need to eat, she can still appreciate a good spread.

Using a bit of her Anyone magic, Wessex changes her hair and eye color to something a little less her - brunette and brown, a little more aged - and tries to blend into the crowd. All around her are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces… maybe the ever looming war is starting to get to everyone, not just her. While she passes many of the stalls by, the Wraith pauses at the sapling and seed stall, taking the time to look for something that might end up being pretty. Perhaps something to grow amongst the ruins, flowering, disguising the effects that time and disarray have wreaked on the Grounds.

"Thank you," he rumbled as the bag and its contents - spiced meat and vegetables, perhaps a trifle overcooked after taking Melita's lesson to heart, but a safe and hearty addition to the food table - were placed with the rest of the offerings.

Green eyes were drawn back to the plant table and at Lena's question he pulled himself half out of the channel, careful not to send much water washing over the muddy shore as he rose up to get a better look at what was available.

To his surprise, there were several options for water and ocean flora. One large jar of saltwater contained a seagrass in full flower and he nodded towards it. "Can you pass that to me, please?"

Not the strongest win the battle —
This was the feast Lena had spoken of. He brought his cake that he had baked with her and put it with the other goodies. It was a simple peach cake and hoped that the people liked it. If not, he had the next day a good cake for himself alone there were worse. He looked around to see if he saw any familiar faces. But there was still no trace of Maea or Amun and he was starting to worry about them. He grabbed some candy and thought about who he could talk to here. It seemed to be peaceful for now, he hoped it would stay that way.

EVIE
like love is a bad word
Deimos has attended more festivals than she at this point, but nothing would ever erase the trauma of Fiat Lux - so she is just as cautious as they arrive, sugar cookies in little bags split between the two of them. It’s not the best location for a festival in her opinion, but the mingling individuals don’t seem daunted by the grime and gloom.

It’s clear they’ve arrived together with the way they’re both adorned in ivy crowns, the green vibrant against her fiery hair. She intends for it to stay that way too, keeping her wariness around her and shadowing the Sword’s steps as they maneuver through the throng of attendees. Deimos notices Talyson first, given Evie is immediately distracted by the seeds and saplings to be taken, but she turns her attention reluctantly to the disgruntled young man when her companion points it out with a silently arched brow that speaks volumes to her. Glancing between Tal and his apparent nemesis of the day once it’s pointed out to be Sah, realization dawns quickly on her face and she has to stamp it out fiercely.

Biting her cheek and promising herself she’d tell Deimos about her suspicions later in private, the Evergreen sidles up to the Sword’s side and idly plays with the seeds in her hand, encouraging them to split and send little green shoots to tickle against her palm. “I think he’d like that, so long as the surrounding area isn’t liable to be inhospitable. I don’t think he’d appreciate planting something doomed to die there.” Turning a curious expression to Deimos, she uses her free hand to break a piece off the cookie in his own and pops it into her mouth. “I haven’t been to visit him, have you?” Mahbe presenting a more diverse conversation with an extra person would sufficiently distract Talyson from his disgruntlement.

Waiting to see how the mermanta assessed the plant life (she knew some, but certainly not all), the youth glanced over particular wares and saplings that could benefit the Celestine, or Stormbreak as a whole. But before she made her selection, Hadama pointed out the jar of saltwater, seagrass blooming, and she carefully moved forward, grabbing hold of it with both hands and carrying it over to him. “There you are.” Hopefully it would make the trip back to wherever he roamed.

As for herself, she roamed around the table several more times, perusing, pondering, and calculating, before settling on some nice herbs. They’d be medicinal counterparts and offer mending properties for those she watched over amongst the gardens.

Deimos
Dare we know the halo's hanging low
Gaze purposefully impassive and nonchalant (to ward away any misgivings about festivals in general, and to be obnoxious), his focus and gaze flickered briefly to Sah, and then a long drawn out sigh persevered. He was half-inclined to make a joke about the courier and advisor, but settled for rolling his eyes and wishing Talyson could find better things to do with his time.

A brief wrinkle to his nose unfurled across the reticent features as Evie broke apart a portion of the cookie in his hand, narrowing his eyes and possessively eating the remains within half a moment. Instead of saying anything to either of them for an instant, his eyes went to the saplings and seeds, wanting nothing to do with the desert in general. “Not sure how they can be supported on their own there,” and a residual shrug to his shoulders filtered through at the healer’s inquiry. “Only to help bring water to the well.”

Another plan formed in his mind thereafter, because he was eternally for their home to become stronger. “Would some of these be beneficial in Halo’s greenhouse?”

Oh, gods, it was Deimos's.... uh.

Friend.

Tal glowered down at the table in front of him, ears growing uncomfortably warm. "'M not gonna plant an orchid there or anythin' du-delicate," he mumbled, amending his words at the last moment but stung that Evie thought he was so stupid (or so he interpreted her well-meaning words). Sure, he hadn't gotten out of Halo much before this year, but he was a quick enough study when it came to surviving his deliveries.

His fingers trailed along the table until a sharp prick made him wince and then blink in surprise as he lifted the hardy little pot with its somewhat wilted and depressed-looking cactus that was not having a good time in the humid swamp. "Somethin' like this would work!"

Pale eyes followed Deimos's attention and he nodded slowly. "Mm... yeah, could always use more variety. Maybe some of those bean-lookin' things?"

"Thank you," he rumbled, accepting the jar and sliding back into the water with it carefully. On closer examination it was a type he was unfamiliar with, but one that seemed like it would thrive in an underwater garden tended by a careful hand. Satisfied, he tucked it under his arm and nodded politely to Lena. "It will do. I hope I will see you again soon."

It might have been courteous to stay longer and partake of more of the food, but even Hadama's uncultured nose could smell the questionable scents and decay from some of the original offerings, and not even the more recent additions could tempt him into staying longer. There was a long swim ahead, and no time like the present to get started.

I know, I fought you in the dark
In the end, she makes her decision and trades a few coins for a couple of different seeds and a sapling; variety is the name of the game, she thinks, as she is definitely not knowledgeable about horticulture and the like. Placing the tiny seeds delicately into a small pouch, the Writh grasps the sapling firmly by the trunk and wanders around a bit more. The whole thing is definitely a bit odd - and while she might have stayed around till the end just to see if anything interesting is going to happen, time rolls ever onward. There are things to be done, and with no one to talk to, the demigod doesn’t choose to linger.

There was no trace of Amun or Maea, he was worried about the two who had been missing for several days. It did not help but life had to go on he was glad that everything remained so peaceful and no one had any things but some just enjoyed the festival and the brought things. He also found some seedlings and seeds and thought that these would do well in the garden, maybe a beautiful tree would grow from it and he could sit under it in the summer. But from then on the war would begin, these were the last peaceful days. It will be seen who will survive it and who will not. He grabbed a sapling and turned around again and looked at the celebrations. He would have liked to stay a little longer, but he still had a lot to do and couldn't put things off any longer.
