REXANNA
Rome wasn't built in a day.
She listened to Are as he spoke, mentioning that his wife wasn’t there yet. And suddenly, Rexanna felt a bit bad for asking about it, wondering if his wife was ever going to come through. But she didn’t express those fears for him, knowing he likely thought them occasionally too. And so she nodded, simply, but offered a reassuring smile. “Well, I hope it all works out for you.” She said quietly, before Are continued to speak of ensuring the house was in decent order. She nodded again, offering him a beaming grin. “Any girl could appreciate that!” She said, and she meant it!

But now that the work had been done she needed to get to, she smiled to Are as he agreed. He stepped over to the bundle of clothes to collect his things before beginning to speak of the shoes and other things he had to offer, and she nodded with a small smile before she paused. “Wait a moment, before you go!” She said before hopping up the steps into her home and disappearing inside for a moment. When she returned, she had a soft warm blanket in her hands that she had transmuted to be softer and fluffier before she approached Are.

It isn’t much, but take it as a thanks from me! It still gets chilly at night, should do some good for that.” She offered, handing the dark ruby red fabric to Are with a small grin. “Thank you for the help.” Her voice was softer as she thanked him a bit more officially, her sapphire gaze dancing up to his face to see if he’d take the gift before he left.
But it burned in one.

Are
He laughed with her, warmed by the small moments where everything seemed like it would turn out just fine. Moments where he lived for the moment, working and laughing. As soon as it the laughter faded into the cool day he was prepared for the worries to return, but none came. No, the niggling doubts seemed so trivial in the face of the moment. Honest work and a new friend, what more could he really ask for?

If there was anything it would be exactly what Rexanna handed him. Like liquid it felt in his hands, a blanket like nothing he'd ever seen before, and the color. The deep dark crimson flowed across calloused hands like a lover's touch, unthinkably soft but still substantial enough to inspire courage. He shook his head at how taken aback he was by a piece of cloth. There was so much he had to say and ask, but he got ahold of his tongue before he began babbling again. The look he got was enough of an answer to satiate any lingering doubt.

"Thank you." he simply said with his voice and eyes alight with all the warmth and gratitude he could muster. A glint of a foreign sun saying a thousand words the cobbler could never even think of. "Far vel, Rexanna! On warm winds and soft soles!"

REXANNA
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Luckily for Rexanna, Are seemed extremely pleased about her offer as she watched his hand run against the softness of the blanket. His words, full of warmth and happiness that reverberated around her home with the cleanliness showing in the hard work they had done, and it reflected on her face as she glanced to him – joy and happiness billowing out into the world. “You’re welcome.” She said a bit quietly, leaning back against the broom once more before she made to gather her things and put them away.

She didn’t understand the words he said at first, likely chalking them up to being another language like Bastien had spoken to her time and time again, but then as he spoke in the language she understood, she dipped her head in acknowledgement. “Have a wonderful day, Are!” She chimed to him, waving him off before she gathered her broom and the supplies for the window sealant, and making her way indoors quite a bit earlier than she had previously imagined this event would take. And honestly, a lot cleaner than she had imagined as well.

(thanks for the thread Wiggen! :D)
But it burned in one.
