Fire burned across the lotus garden, fierce and fueled by the oil that Maea had flung. With two Ancients combining their powers the flowers went up on a violet conflagration that started slowly but quickly spread to reach even those blooms beyond the range of the control. Smoke built even more quickly as the wet leaves and living petals were forced from a smolder to a blaze, and it soon obscured the surface of the underground lake in a choking haze.
Much of it gathered at the cavern's ceiling that had been hidden by shadows and thick roots, giving Maea and Thalassa a little relief. Thanks to the oil and the levels of their Fire Manipulation the burn did not last long before every living bloom and leaf above the water was charred to blackened ash. The dread that had been weighing down upon them slowly lifted as their fires burned until nothing living remained but the two women and any cave-dwelling fish far enough below the surface to avoid being boiled.
Once they were certain that the lake had been cleansed of the Void, Tal was eager to lead the way back to the open air of the surface. Even with the humidity and warmer temperatures he seemed to expand from his shrinking, twitching nervousness back into his more usual self. "I definitely think that counts as enough Void-killin' for one day," he stated with satisfaction, grinning at the ladies through his makeshift face mask. "Can't thank y'both enough for handlin' that down there!" He reached up to rub the back of his neck, clearing his throat self-consciously. "Look, if y'ever need any help clearin' out th'Grounds or somethin'... just lemme know, yeah? I owe you one."
