make it shine - Nova - 01-27-2026

[say]"Welcome to the guild!"[/say]

Nova throws out her hands, showing off the workshop where all the magic happens (literally). The low lighting gives it a mysterious vibe, schematics and tools strewn about the space, half-finished projects sitting on work desks and the scent of wood shavings and molten metal filling the room. One corner has a kiln and another has a forge, every piece of equipment procured and maintained by the Kael brothers.

She's only been here a few times, relying primarily on her magic to get the job done, but popping by to annoy the guild leaders with ideas on occasion. As such, she does have her own space, a glitter-encrusted corner that shimmers to beckon people forward. Anyone who knows her will know whose it is, even without the sparkly sign that reads 'NOVA ONLY.'

Skipping forward, she drags Caly behind her, ignoring the few exasperated glances thrown their way. [say]"Okay! Let's get started! I think I've got a brush around here..."[/say] She releases her hold on her sister, hands rummaging through the tools thrown haphazardly across the table. A few unfinished products are brushed aside; a tiny hat, a pair of shoes, a sharp-looking dagger, each more sparkly than the last. Nova ignores them, grabbing at a wire brush before presenting it Caly like a golden prize. [say]"Got it!"[/say]

Not waiting for a reaction, she sits on the pink stool to remove her bracelet and get to work. [say]"Put yours there."[/say] She nods to the table, starting to run the bristles over the silver metal of her jewelry.

Amber eyes light up as she takes in the area, the workshop that smells of wood and magic, the scent of something charred and mysterious alongside the low lighting. Dust collects in the form of old plans written out, the barely there scent of old ink. It’s Nova’s space that Caly finds nearly immediately in her quiet search, the smile on her face brightening to see the glitter that sparkles with every inch of a step take toward it.

The sparkly sign in a nice addition too, if she’s being honest, and she can’t help but to giggle slightly to see it. “[say]Wow.[/say]” She hums contently, dragged along toward the space and ignoring the exasperated looks from everyone else in the Guild while they go. As her sister starts to rummage through the tools needed, she starts to work at the bracelet on her wrist – having never taken it off since it was put on, stopping halfway through the attempt to look up at Nova to see the wire brush. “[say]Oh that’ll be perfect.[/say]” Not like she knows anything about it – leaving to her sister to focus on first.

But if it’s what’s needed, Caly’s happy to let her take the reins on that. “[say]On it![/say]” She chimes, finally unclasping her bracelet and sets the jewelry down on the edge of the table where her sister’s instructed, leaning her hip against the edge of the table to watch her sister work. “[say]So what else have ya been makin’?[/say]” She asks curiously, spying the sharp looking dagger and the tiny hat with curiosity and warmth exuding from her.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-02-2026

The scrape of wire bristles on metal fills the space between them, the intensity spurred on by her enthusiasm. Her eyes are fixated on the work, her tongue pressing against the inside of her lips, threatening to pop out at any moment. She distractedly answers Caly as she works, the evidence of her work strewn across the table. [say]"I made some more hats for Jeff! And a few dresses and some fun designs for the Sunbean and - "[/say]

She suddenly cuts off, jumping from the stool to grab a sparkly cinch purse that hangs on the side of the table. [say]"Oh! I also made this when I was in Halo! Look!"[/say] Presenting the opening, she stretches it wide so Caly can see the void within, small bits of sparkle and vague shapes partially visible in the darkness. Throwing her sister an excited grin, she puts her arm into the bag, the limb vanishing up to her armpit. Her eyes raise as she fumbles blindly, fingers brushing against various textures.  [say]"Where is it...?"[/say]

After another moment of searching, she finally finds her prize. Gripping it along the staff, she maneuvers it out of the pocket dimension and into reality, a glittery gold spear that glows the moment it escapes the bag. [say]"Here it is! Isn't it pretty?! I saw it and immediately thought of you!"[/say] Nova pushes it towards Caly, beaming a smile that overshadows the weapon without even trying.

Nova gives Caly:

Sun Spear | An ornate lightweight but sturdy spear that constantly glistens as if caught in a beam of sunlight. Shoots an arc of fire of up to 15ft.
Type: Light | Style: Offensive | Level: Basic | Cost: Action

Watching her sister create has always been something she’s taken an interest in. The way that she’s half certain her crafting is the only thing that keeps her attention span for longer than a few minutes. It’s not a slight or anything bad by any means, grateful for it in some aspects because it meant that she got to focus on things she’d likely otherwise miss if it weren’t for Nova pointing them out.

And just like that, it gets the best of her. “[say]Which one’s Jeff’s favorite?[/say]” She asks before her sister’s hopping up to grab the glitter shine of a purse. Amber eyes widen in appreciation for it, leaning over the opening to see into it. She can’t see much, but it looks far deeper than it should be. “[say]That’s so pretty.[/say]” She says as she waits for whatever it is her sister’s searching for in a bag that’s relatively tiny.

And before she knows it, the item is grabbed and emerges from the bag. It’s far larger than what should fit and her brows lift with it, but she’s captivated by the spear that Nova withdraws from it. “[say]Gods, Nova. I love it.[/say]” She chimes, taking the spear and laughing a bright giggle as she feels the warmth of the metal from where her hand heats it up, turning it this way and that to see how light it is. It practically glows and she brightens immeasurably with it in her hand. “[say]Thank you![/say]” She chimes, ignoring if her sister’s back to trying to fix up their bracelets as she surges in for a warm hug.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-05-2026

[say]"Hm? Oh! He likes the top hat!"[/say] It's a very dapper look on him, especially the little bit of glitter on the tiny ribbon. He's quite the dashing wine spider when he wears that one, although she thinks the beret is equally as fancy.

Arm buried in the bag, she looks up at her sister, a proud grin on her face for the praise. [say]"Thanks!"[/say] But then the spear is in her hand, rising from the depths of the darkness to glow softly in the light, her beaming smile following Caly as she swings the weapon to test it out. The golden luminescence flashes elegantly, moving gracefully through the air as Nova giggles and claps her hand for the performance. [say]"The moment I saw it, I knew I had to get it for you!"[/say] 'Get' meaning steal, but that doesn't even darken her conscious when looking at her sister's face (not that it would anyways).

She returns the hug in force, sparkles falling around them when she laughs. [say]"Okay. Back to business!"[/say] Pulling away, she hums with uncontained energy, turning back to the bracelets and wire brush she'd set aside. Her head rocks back and forth as she dances to the process, swiping the brush back and forth against the metal to clear any large debris. And when hers appears done after a few minutes, she turns to Caly's - trading silver for gold where the bristles touch to complete the same steps.

RE: make it shine - Calypso - 02-06-2026

She realizes as she thinks about Jeff the wine spider that she’ll probably miss his quiet observations in the sunbeam during the time after Nova moves with Vesper. It’s something she doesn’t admit, not as she smiles and nods. Her sister fishes around in the bag and eventually pulls out the spear and Caly’s absolutely joyous to see it, glinting sunlight in her hands as she tests it and feels the weight of it, cradling it up to her chest as she laughs a little. “[say]You’re the best sister ever, y’know.[/say]” She hums as she pulls away from the hug.

Focusing a bit more as Nova gets to work, Caly sets the spear to lean against the edge of her work desk and plucks up the bracelet Nova had just finished clearing off the bars from – snagging a rag to swipe away any dust left behind to at least do what she can to help. Brushing along the edges of the metal until it comes away clean, she’ll work on it until Nova’s done with her own bracelet so she can trade her sister.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-06-2026

Grinning, she settles back onto her bright pink stool. [say]"I know."[/say] There's no hesitation or doubt, her self-confidence as high as it always is, proud of the fact that she knows she's an awesome sister - willing to fight anyone for her title.

The brush runs along the gold, pushing off dirt and grime that have layered onto the metal. She makes sure each individual star gets attention, each link of the bracelet, each tiny gem until every millimeter of the accessory appears free of substances that might dull their shine. Any loose links she notices are tightened with plyers, and she ensures each gem is properly secured to keep them from falling from the brackets.

Only once both bracelets are back in perfect structural condition does Nova take a breath. Her smile shines, magic reaching for more of the materials at her desk: polish and two rags. They flow forward on a current of air that sparkles faintly, her hands grabbing one of the cloths and turning to Caly, offering her golden bracelet for her to help. [say]"Let's just shine them up a little to finish them off!"[/say]

RE: make it shine - Calypso - 02-06-2026

She cleans up the dust from each bracelet as her sister goes through the works to make sure each gem is set perfectly and nothing lingers in the crevices and the stars, and only when they part and split the duties to get the bracelets started on their polishing journey, Caly shifts so she can set her hip up against the curve of the workbench Nova works at.

Taking her golden bracelet back and picking one of the rags, she looks at the polish curiously and picks the one she’s fairly certain is the one you start with when it comes to getting the grit sizing right – but she angles it toward her sister before she applies it just in case. “[say]S’this one, right? T’start?[/say]” She asks, and whether she’s got the confirmation or the change of the bottles, she applies some and begins to rub it into it, cleaning it up slowly but surely.

“[say]Soooo, have ya met anyone lately?[/say]” She asks, shooting her sister a devious and playful smile as she scrubs at the bracelet.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-06-2026

Bobbing her head at Caly's question, she picks the same liquid to soak her cloth and begins to rub down the silver of her bracelet. While her hands work diligently in tiny circles, she giggles and tilts her head to look at her sister. [say]"I've met lots of people!"[/say] Perhaps not in the manner her sister means, but she begins to rattle off the roster of people.

[say]"Thorn is really cool, but he has a weird job. People pay him to have sex with them."[/say] She widens her eyes, recalling how strange it was to hear that people didn't act like her siblings and just get it for free, instead having to spend money for sex. Her head shakes, clearly still baffled by the idea when she says, [say]"Very weird."[/say]

Then her smile is back, brighter than before. [say]"I also met Noah - I helped him make a shrine for mom in Halo - and then I met his son, Marcus, when I helped Colt with her cows! He's a hybrid like me! But his magics are way different than mine."[/say] Instead of elements and creation and power, his were soft and focused on people. Not exactly magics that she's jealous of.

Moving to the next star on her bracelet, she shifts the conversation back to Caly. [say]"You? Any new customers at the Sunbean?"[/say]

RE: make it shine - Calypso - 02-06-2026

Rolling her eyes with a huff of a laugh, Caly pouts her lips dramatically in a way that she knows her sister will understand to mean that her answer isn’t exactly what the attuned is looking for. But as she goes down the roster of people, the mention of Thorn who is someone she hasn’t met but she’s heard of when it came to the House of Midnight, her head tilts as she snickers and scrubs more of the polish on the bracelet in little swirls. “[say]Makes sense. He works at the brothel, yeah?[/say]” She asks curiously, head tilting slightly.

It’s brief before she continues to focus on the stars and golden glints, hearing the name Noah and Marcus and realizing she’s only heard of Noah before and it was mostly in passing. “[say]Oh? How so?[/say]” She asks with the mention of the magic being softer than Nova’s. She can only imagine having magic to use similarly to how her sister does, but she doesn’t comment on that.

In terms of the Sunbean, though, Caly brightens. “[say]Yeah, a couple. Since Stormbreak’s fallen we’ve gotten a bunch’ve new people from there that’ve moved in. It’s been kinda nice.[/say]” She seems charmed by it, warm like the patch of grass the sun’s sat on for an hour or two before passing, harboring the residual heat.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-06-2026

Unbothered by Caly's quiet exasperation, Nova continues one her analysis of the people she's met. Her only reasoning for going to brothels have been for the free drinks, but she knows what happens there, knows that Thorn's profession isn't uncommon - even if she still can't grasp why people do it. So she nods her head, raising her bracelet to squint at it in the dim light, making sure she hasn't missed a spot so far. [say]"Yep!"[/say]

As for Marcus, she explains nonchalantly, [say]"He can heal people and soothe their emotions."[/say] Tilting her head, she isn't harsh or mean when she adds, [say]"I prefer my magics."[/say] Her smile sharpens, pride and confidence lacing the expression as little tendrils of elements and light catch the air around them in a momentary display of power.

Then she shrugs her shoulders, putting some extra friction to a spot on the silver. [say]"But he was nice. He has a twin too!"[/say] Which automatically makes him slightly better than some people, and she smiles again at Caly, knowing no one would be as cool as her sister.

The mention of Stormbreak falling has her perking, rag pausing as she leans forward. [say]"Ooh, right! I heard about that! We should go explore the ruins some time! Maybe we'll find something cool!"[/say] She's practically bouncing, curiosity flowing off her in waves.

RE: make it shine - Calypso - 02-08-2026

Caly mirrors her sister’s movements, twisting the bracelet here and there to check it in the glint of the light to make sure it’s precisely as shiny and clean and harbors no further imperfections (not that she thinks there’s any at all even when it hadn’t been cleaned and fortified), and settles in to listen as she explains about Marcus’ magic. “[say]Oh, huh.[/say]” She muses, brows pinching. She can’t imagine what it might be like to have someone soothe her emotions, the thought leaving her a little less than ideal like it feels like she wouldn’t be able to be completely in control.

And they both know she’s a bit of a control freak these days. “[say]No way. That’s cool.[/say]” She laughs, because yeah, she can absolutely get behind the idea that those that have twins are automatically put on a better pedestal than the average person. And it keeps her warm and delighted as she scrubs away the rest of the polish on the bracelet and continues to scan it just to make sure it was perfect when her sister mentions checking out the ruins.

“[say]You think we’ll find anything interestin’ there?[/say]” She asks, brows lifting as she shoots a conspirators smile at her sister.

RE: make it shine - Nova - 02-08-2026

Letting Marcus drift away without another thought, Nova scrubs between two of the links, tongue sticking out like it might ease the rag deeper into the metal. The friction and polishing oils make it so bright that when she leans back, she swears it's glowing a soft white light. It looks as perfect as the day she made it, the tiny gems sparkling against the silver, like it's been imbued with true starlight.

Nova angles it every direction, scrutinizing the creation for any imperfections. [say]"Maybe ghosts? Or treasures people left behind?"[/say] She flashes Caly a mischievous grin, looking way too excited about dead people and haunted loot, although she's equally as enticed by the possibility of people or strange creatures that may lurk in the crumbling ruins. [say]"Do you think anyone lives there now?"[/say]

RE: make it shine - Calypso - 02-09-2026

Caly continues her careful polishing of the bracelet, trading it eventually for the clean rag to make sure she gets each and every bit of polishing cream off of it. She checks its glint in the light of the workshop as well, offering a soft little giggle. “[say]Treasures, for sure. No way they coulda gotten everythin’ outta there, yeah?[/say]” She asks, glancing up to look at her sister with a smirk.

As for whether or not anyone lived there now, she shakes her head. “[say]I doubt it. I’d happily abandon some place that totally gave up beneath me.[/say]” She says it almost without thinking, shrugging her shoulders and presenting her sister with her cleaned up and polished bracelet with a sunshine grin. “[say]Whatcha think? Good enough?[/say]”
