RE: trying to make the wrongs right - Remi - 10-01-2024

[say]"Mmm."[/say] Trying not to let himself scowl as Ronin repeats the words, Remi manages it—just—but not without the muscles in his shoulders bunching up by his ears.

Raising his eyebrows and glancing over his shoulder, certainly not feeling any humour through their bond and yet expecting to see it on his husband's face, Remi's eyes drink in the Knight's stoic expression with a long sigh. [say]"I...suppose we could."[/say] He admits dully, not entirely sure why inviting Jack along felt like giving up so much ground. [say]"Mm? No, not really. I mean, I know he's been busy planning the proposal.."[/say] Shrugging, Remi knew about it only because Flora had requested his presence as a way of making sure Enzo could be in attendance. [say]"Maybe we could wait until he's popped the question and then have it be a celebratory thing...his mind might be a bit more clear then, too."[/say]

Ronin also supposes they could, though in equal measure he'd also like to have the captain disappear under mysterious circumstances that wouldn't necessarily lead back to them. Grumbling and rubbing at his eyes, at least talk of Sunjata and Hotaru is less stressful (and no, if you had asked him if he'd ever have considered that, he'd have laughed in your face). [say]"Mm, that sounds like a good idea,"[/say] he agrees. [say]"I'll fly up to the Cordillera, maybe, make sure that the place hasn't entirely overgrown on itself."[/say]

He assumes they'll still be dining up there, at least, since that houseboat is fit for more than one visitor at a time. Until then, though, Ronin finally rises to his feet, holding out a hand to help Remi up beside him. [say]"We should go and fix that door, I suppose,"[/say] he says, despite wanting to do nothing else all of a sudden but go to bed.

As if sensing his husband's thoughts—having been married long enough it hardly took either sort of bond they shared in order to do so—Remi smirks. [say]"I wonder if he'd take the Ark close to Starfall if he heard a rumour about a lost cache of valuables out there..?"[/say] Innocently said, the Bastion raises his eyebrows before huffing out a laugh and groaning. [say]"Though with our luck Flora would go with him and channel one of us to save him if things got out of hand."[/say]

Nodding that Ronin's suggestion sounded like a good one, Remi reaches out to accept his husband's hand. Accompanied by the sounds of various clicks in his knees, the Bastion glances through the door toward where their front door still sat off its hinges. [say]"Do we have to? Today you've killed a dragon and I've been slapped by our daughter. Surely that's enough."[/say]

Groaning, because of course Remi is right, and Ronin's half formed (and half serious) plan is abandoned before it had even properly taken root. [say]"Maybe The Ark looks enough like a pirate ship that a kraken accidentally takes care of it the next time it's out in deep water,"[/say] he mutters under his breath, drawing his husband against him as soon as he's on his feet as if they might be able to put the world to rights by little more than standing in each other's arms for a bit.

And in fairness, usually that does work, but given Remi's recap of their eventful day, it isn't all that surprising that Ronin's outlook remains somewhat bleak and tired. [say]"...No, we don't have to,"[/say] he decides with a smirk, leaning in to kiss the other man, soft and slow, before drawing away. Slipping back into the houseboat, Ronin adjusts their door to sit roughly in the frame if not back on its hinges, and at the height of Longheat, it will fucking do for now.

[say]"Mmmm, then I'll just have to find some believable way of telling Flora that Jack hasn't sent one message to her and that suddenly I am unable to bring anyone back from Mort's realm."[/say] Much fun as it was to "joke" about offing their daughter's boyfriend, their particular set of powers did make it wildly impractical to pull off without being caught.

Happily slipping his arms around the Knight, while being in Ronin's arms might not have the power to solve all of their problems, for a few seconds there's nothing save for the sound of Ronin's heartbeat and the low hush of the waves as they brush against the Northaven. Even the sound of Remi's breath in his ears sounds too loud against the serenity doing its best to descend, and when they eventually do part, the Bastion is committed to letting nothing else that evening disturb them.

[say]"Come on. I'm in the mood for a very cold shower."[/say] He suggests, the mischievous glint in his eye very much suggesting that he intended for the water to be the only thing cold about it.
