RE: scene of the crime - Remi - 12-16-2024

[say]"I only meant that if I go to Mort, it would be in all of our interests for me to ask for something stronger than a map."[/say] Not that the map wouldn't be invaluable, but merely that the request would be wasted on Mort.

Eyeing the captain from across the table, for a moment Remi is inclined to see him as an equal: a man with his own years of cunning and experience, a man who'd seen and dealt out death just as Remi had, a man whose opinions and insights would be helpful in what was to come. The only thing that has him tensing against the feeling is the fact that Jack's eyes are nearly as aged and tired as his own are, if not more so. Though it wouldn't last, the rum had sufficiently warmed Remi's mind such that the unease that threatened to slosh around his belly was easily ignored.

[say]"I appreciate that."[/say] Sighing, Remi eyes the bottle of rum before deciding that more was probably not a good idea. [say]"I am not sure another family dinner is the right way to go, but we should keep in touch."[/say] Whether that meant drinks, letters, or casual chats on the shoreline Remi wasn't entirely sure. Likely they'd have to play it by ear based on what came out of his and Ronin's trip up to Stormbreak in the following few days.

RE: scene of the crime - Jack - 12-16-2024

Rolling his eyes in a gesture that's much more agreeable than it is sarcastic, Jack inclines his head in acknowledgement even if he's loathe to admit that Remi has a good point. [say]"Well, I'll spread the word, let Flora know as well. That way if I can't get an answer from the gods, maybe someone else'll have a little more luck."[/say] And whoever manages to petition Caido's deities will have a flank of people waiting to help fulfil the necessary requirements, at least.

Eyeing Remi right back as he feels the other man's gaze on him, Jack is unable to hide the brief smirk that curls across his lips; of course he'd be uneasy, even in the face of an unexpected ally. (Just like Jack). Also feeling that more liquor wouldn't be in his best interest, the captain instead gets to his feet with a wince he's getting quite practiced at hiding. [say]"That's fine with me. More of a breakfast guy, myself,"[/say] he says, stepping away from the table.

[say]"Best of luck out there,"[/say] he says, meaning of course the venture up to Stormbreak, and though they aren't nearly at the point where he might offer a clap on the shoulder, the nod he gives Remi before he departs is as much respect as the captain is likely to give anyone.
