RE: ye of the past must die - Thalassa - 03-20-2025

Those were, indeed, traits that Thal found quite boring, making her want to roll her eyes at the 'prince charming' she seemed to be describing. Yet Maea's expression gave her pause, wondering if she might get walloped for badmouthing the mystery man anymore. So she settled for a shrug of her shoulders. [say]"You deserve someone like that. I'm just picking up on the cues that you might not be."[/say] All that to say, you're an idiot who doesn't notice what's happening, but she didn't, shooting her friend another teasing grin tinged with a hint of jealousy for the innocence. Maybe that was something she'd lost in her transformation, because she'd supposedly had it when she'd had a tail years ago.

Having met most of the people mentioned, she at least knew that Maea wasn't lying, and she definitely wasn't surprised with her strange connection to that Elizabeth girl. They both had that 'fascination' with everything that she'd never understand. However, it was still comforting to know, and she gave Maea a playfully genuine smile. [say]"Well, I'm glad I'm not your only friend. Gods know I'm not much of one."[/say] At least, she wasn't dense enough to think she was.

RE: ye of the past must die - Maea - 03-21-2025

Cues? The perplexed expression showed that Maea was either wildly ignorant as to what the captain meant, or entirely invested in her refusal to admit anything was going on at all. Which was more accurate was anyone's guess; at least she softened at the sentiment that she might deserve something, any annoyance with Thalassa warming into gratitude.

[say]"Whatever do you mean? You're an excellent friend. I never bicker as well with anyone else - you should be proud."[/say] It was only half in jest; the fact that they could argue and still remain friends spoke of a bond between them that was far from flimsy. Despite their wild differences in fashion, personality, liberalism and moral values, somehow this still worked. Because they wanted it to; because life would be far duller if Maea had to go on without her scowling, teasing, wickedly affectionate mischievous sister-of-Dygra.

[say]"I need to get this back home, and find a pot... do you want to come back with me or will you return to your ship?"[/say] The bundle in her arms didn't weigh much, but it dragged on them all the same. Precious as an infant, Maea was terribly afraid that something might come for her before she got home. [say]"Sorry about the hunt – I'll make it up to you another day. Promise."[/say]

When Maea didn't respond to her accusation, she leaned into the strange dynamics of their relationship, a wide grin spread across her face. [say]"I'm glad to hear no one else compares to me."[/say] Because gods knew they weren't the most functional of friends, always disagreeing or outright fighting, but it was their dysfunctional relationship, and she would cherish it.

Shrugging her shoulders, she pushed off from the tree, ready to depart from the clearing. [say]"I'll walk you back."[/say] If only to prove to herself that nothing was lurking in the shadows, waiting to snag at Maea's hard-earned prize. She'd had too many moments where she let her guard down, only for some backwater ruffian to try stealing from her. It usually ended in them being unable to try something like that again, but she wasn't sure Maea would have the backbone to do the same.

As for their abandoned hunt, Thal chuckled. [say]"You better."[/say] Her tone was threatening, but the smile on her face was teasing, not really caring one way or another.
