RE: medicine for the dead - Isla - 04-13-2025 [say]"Mmhm,"[/say] Isla hums, a strand of amusement rippling through Remi's magic between the heavier emotions, before the truth of it comes out and she huffs out a near inaudible laugh. [say]"And I bet he is not so excellent at accepting your hovering with quiet understanding?"[/say] she assumes, her fingers smoothing gently across the fabric of his shirt, relishing the warmth and familiarity of him in her arms, however changed they might both be by years and circumstance. Peeking up at him as he straightens a little, Isla raises her eyebrows but doesn't seem surprised - not by the Knight taking his work seriously or by Remi risking splinters for kisses. [say]"Perhaps save it for when he gives you a tour of the place when it's finished,"[/say] she suggests, before glancing over her shoulder at the pineapples he mentions. [say]"Ah, I see. I was actually looking for some for breakfast. Maybe we can get a few between us to take back?"[/say] RE: medicine for the dead - Remi - 04-13-2025 Remi hums thoughtfully, his smile deepening with quiet affection. [say]"Not so excellent is a very generous way to put it,"[/say] he agrees, the corners of his mouth twitching. [say]"He gets a certain look...Where he's smiling but also trying to kill me with his eyes?"[/say] A fond shake of his head follows, and for all the frustration that comes with trying not to interfere, the warmth in his tone betrays just how deeply he adores the man he's trying not to meddle with. At her suggestion, Remi casts a glance back toward the thicket, his arm still loose around Isla but already angling them slightly in that direction. [say]"A tour sounds safer, yes. Though if he includes anything with stairs I make no promises."[/say] His grin returns as he adds, [say]"I do my best work when there's a railing to brace against, and he does his best with nothing to fall down."[/say] RE: medicine for the dead - Isla - 04-15-2025 [say]"I've never been subjected to such a look, but with Ronin's expressive features, I can imagine it very well,"[/say] Isla admits, her smile soft but her amusement genuine as Remi turns them back towards the grove of pineapples. With one last affectionate squeeze around him, she finally steps away so she might tiptoe back over to the thicket and crouch down to select a few ripe specimens for breakfast. [say]"I can't see Ronin keen to climb any stairs in his floating house unless he absolutely has to,"[/say] she says, her tone intending reassurance but coming out around a quiet laugh. [say]"And I'm quite certain there's an innuendo in that last sentence of yours, but I'm going to be the bigger person and not try to look for it."[/say] Instead, grabbing two or three larger pineapples out of the thicket, she offers a couple of them up for Remi and keeps the other for herself when they get back. RE: medicine for the dead - Remi - 04-15-2025 Remi laughs under his breath, ducking to help pluck a few more molten pineapples from the glowing thicket. [say]"Oh, there absolutely was an innuendo,"[/say] he confirms with a wink, voice rich with amusement. [say]"But I appreciate your restraint. Ronin usually just points it out and tells me to grow up."[/say] He passes one of the fruits to Isla and nudges another into the crook of his arm with an ease that suggests they’ve done this sort of quiet domestic nonsense more times than he can count. Once they’ve gathered enough between them, he straightens, brushing his hands absently along the side of his pants before turning toward her with a gentler smile. [say]"Come on. Let me fly you back to the mainland,"[/say] he offers, tone warm but leaving space for her to refuse if she’d rather be alone a little longer. [say]"We can drop the pineapples off at yours first, and then I’ll go ruin Ronin’s efforts with a sugar high."[/say] RE: medicine for the dead - Isla - 04-15-2025 [say]"It must be a hard life, making all of this wickedly funny wordplay and having it wasted on the likes of us,"[/say] Isla says with an exaggerated sigh, smirking over at Remi and gathering up as much fruit as she can carry; between the two of them, she shouldn't be craving pineapple for the rest of the season, she thinks. At his offer she pauses, the refusal locked and loaded behind her teeth, and it's with a slightly wistful glance out at the churning see that she finally nods. [say]"That would be nice. I guess I should go back and check on the clinic now too."[/say] No rest for the wicked, as they say, and Isla suspects that in a past life she must have been very, very wicked. [say]"Ready when you are,"[/say] she decides after one last glance around, as if there might have been something she'd forgotten out here. But with nothing further to do, they make their way back to Torchline's mainland, and the civilisation waiting for them there. ~FIN |
