Because whatever complicated tangle of rituals, habits and not-quite-emotions that had ruled Ever's mind before tonight, while the botanist can't hope to imagine how it felt to experience it all, he feels certain in thinking it must have taken a phenomenal amount of energy to maintain.
Speaking of which, as the aviator across from him announces his departure for bed, Mateo finishes his drink and rises to his feet as well, taking both glasses so he might go and wash them up. [say]"I just saw sex Frey and it was incredible,"[/say] he says, waggling his eyebrows over his shoulder at his friend. [say]"So I am going to go and find someone to celebrate that with, if it is all the same to you. Sleep well, though, and I will talk to you tomorrow."[/say]
Tipping Ever a wink and blowing him a kiss, the botanist retrieves his shoes again and is gone as quickly as he'd blown into the apartment, leaving his friend and his finally-quiet mind to the rest of their night.
