RE: a total knockout - Sohalia - 06-09-2025 Sohalia's blow missed - which, honestly, she'd kind of anticipated. She'd never managed to hold her own against someone like Mel for long, and she didn't think that today would be any different. Still, she wasn't anticipating the punch to her upper chest (which landed), and she staggered away from the blow after, surprised and grateful that it hadn't been more powerful a strike. She wished that she had Mel's ability and confidence, but alas, she was a mere mortal in comparison to the demigoddess. Grinning at her friend, she stretched out her neck. [say]"How do you know all these different ways to fight and weapons and stuff?"[/say] she asked, curious. She didn't think she'd ever have that kind of knowledge about so many different things. --- 4/4 RE: a total knockout - Melita - 06-10-2025 Melita’s eyes widened when Sohalia stumbled back too – maybe just as surprised it’d worked. When nothing else came thereafter, the demigod lowered her fists, no need to be on the defensive or searing offense (unless of course this was a trick, and then if so, well played to the Luminary). The question brought an arch to her brow as she skimmed her toes in the sand, head tilting a little. [say]“Oh – well, I’ve used a bunch. Had to be able to survive, you know,”[/say] making no mention of how many worlds she’d had to do just that within – from Helovia, to the Rift, to finally Caido, only existing because of her ability to adapt and prevail (and even then, she’d still died). [say]“So I figured I’d learn a lot of different ways. Just in case.”[/say] From knives to her own fists to arrows and anything in between. [say]“Better to be safe than sorry here.”[/say] RE: a total knockout - Sohalia - 06-11-2025 With their training seemingly completed for now, Sohalia relaxed, raising her arms over her head and stretching them out one by one, grabbing the opposite shoulder and leaning into the sensation. [say]"Smart,"[/say] she agreed, impressed by the forethought required to learn as much as one could about various forms of fighting. Although, if Melita hadn't had a choice, then perhaps it was less intelligence and more a determination to survive. Or maybe that came out to the same thing. In any case, Soh always left Mel feeling like she'd learned something, and today was no different. Offering her friend a smile, she gestured back towards Haulani. [say]"You busy, or do you want to get something to eat?"[/say] she asked. It would be nice to unwind in the safety of the city, and to spend time with someone for no reason other than the pleasure of their company. RE: a total knockout - Melita - 06-14-2025 By no means would many credit Melita as smart; maybe impulsive and bold, but she hadn’t survived through her wit. Mostly grit and determination more than anything else, and even then, hadn’t it come to bite her in the end? Forgoing those notions, she arched her brow at the invitation, eyes flickering back, glancing to the horizon as if it had an answer for her – time, especially, gauging the amount of minutes and seconds she had before the next opportunity. Only thereafter did she swing her gaze to return upon the Luminary, casting her a small smile. [say]“Sure, I could get something to eat,”[/say] was a warm agreement. [say]“Thanks for helping.”[/say] Then she could gather her companions, her bags and weapons, and head towards snacks and food, a little more prepared for whatever came next. [FIN] |
