RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Calypso - 07-21-2025

Watching the avian take off to communicate with the birds, Calypso sits amongst the cliffs and peers out toward the edges, the wind blooming through the layers of her spotted, luminescent golden fur. Her whiskers twitch as she waits, ears perked forward. When she spots the flash of movement of @Lena’s return, she stands again, tail weaving in the air with a surprising amount of grace.

[say]Should we go and look at it?[/say] Maybe it wasn’t clean or there were issues with the food source that would cause the birds to act so strangely. Or maybe a predator has camped in on it to make sure nothing else comes its way?

Caly suggests inspecting the food source!

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Nova - 07-21-2025

While her sister chooses to sit and admire the cliffs, Nova stalks along the edge. She follows any unique sight or smell that draws her attention, admiring small weeds that have managed to grow in the cracks of the rocks or dusty breezes that fall off into the open air below. Her nose is leading her farther away when Lena returns to give her report.

Trotting up to the group, her ears perk at the mention of food. [say]Ooh! I want to see! I hope it's yummy![/say] Her tongue peeks out to wet her lips, her stomach already preparing to receive something with a small grumble. She might have had breakfast before they left Torchline, but Nova could always go for a delicious snack.

Nova agrees that they should investigate the food source.

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Sohalia - 07-22-2025

Lena returned quickly enough, and the three other women listened to what she had to say. Soh had to agree with Calypso and Nova that they should check out the food source. Ducking her head in a bird's nod, Soh sent a pulse of gratitude through the bond to Lena. [say]Thanks for asking them,[/say] she said. [say]I think we should check it out. Lead the way.[/say]

With Lena leading the way, the four of them would make their way down the cliffs to a location marked by a large group of birds, all of whom departed, shrieking, at the sight of the two tide jaguars approaching. That fortunately left them able to survey the area in peace. [say]Alright,[/say] said Soh. [say]Look for anything interesting that the birds might have been eating.[/say]

Round 4! Look for what the birds were eating.

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Lena - 07-23-2025

With everyone in accord and agreement, the Caretaker did as she was asked, wings outstretched, hastening towards the birds’ leads and intrigue. From there, they’d be able to scout out portions, and she did her best to maintain calm amidst the shrieking parameters, feeling bad that they might’ve scattered them away simply on hunches and nosiness.

Which meant she wouldn’t be able to ask any other inquiries. Perhaps that was for the best, and she’d have to use her own intelligence and senses to grapple with the peculiarities of the situation. So she flew downwards, initially inspecting the ground, then flying back up for a greater height vantage.

[say]Lena flies around to look for clues![/say]

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Nova - 07-24-2025

As they make their way down the cliffs in search of the food source, Nova hums and twitches with unrestrained energy, her ears flicking at the errant breezes while her tail sways playfully behind her. She looks like anything but the diligent detective about to break open an important case, and when the birds take off in fear, she momentarily forgets her role, rushing forward to chase off the remaining few with a sparkling giggle.

Only once Soh gives the new instructions does she realize that she should probably be focusing more on their task than the way the air rustles in her fur or how the light catches the clouds or how delicious the snack might be; if she's going to help find a bird's food, it would be better to think like a bird

Shifting seamlessly into her colorfully adorned dreambird form, Nova hops a few times in front of her sister. [say]You look down here! I'll search up high![/say] Then her six wings expand - still a little wobbly as she grows more accustomed to them - and she takes to the skies, searching for any higher places that the birds might have found a meal.

Nova shifts into her dreambird and helps look for what the birds were eating.

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Calypso - 07-24-2025

With the agreement had for checking out the new food spot for the birds, Caly trails after the flock of birds and alongside her sister as they drift down the cliffs, pausing only when the birds depart and shriek, watching her sister pounce out at one before remembering what they were there for. A soft and warm laugh leaves the pale tide jaguar through the attuned bond for her sister, watching as she shifts and takes to the sky.

Which leaves Calypso to focus on the ground, something she thinks she can manage without having a flighted shift of her own. [say]Good luck![/say] She chimes to Nova as she gets to work, head lowered as she drifts further in, searching for anything of note that the birds might have eaten on the ground.

Caly checks on the ground!

RE: all smiles, but no one remembers our names - Sohalia - 07-24-2025

Of all of them, Calypso would have the best luck with her search. It turned out that staying on the ground was exactly what was needed. The others might notice the food source from the sky, but it was Caly who would be able to identify it as a metal box. Once beautifully decorated, the paint was now peeling in chips and strips - which, as it turned out, looked very much to the birds like something delicious to eat. Unfortunately, the paint must have had lead in it - which was poisoning the birds.

[say]This has to be it,[/say] Soh said through the bond as they all examined Caly's find. [say]We'll have to get it removed and the sick birds treated.[/say] With the source of the disruption found and a plan in place, the Luminary sent a pulse of gratitude through the bond to all three of her companions. [say]Thank you all so much for helping with this! I really appreciate it.[/say]
