RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-17-2025

[say]“Less threatening,”[/say] he quipped immediately with a juvenile grin, to make up for the foreboding semblances left behind. The truth remained - he’d still harbored that overbearing sense of dread. The open, unwinding waters that would’ve presented many a problem, and not just with the enemy, the close and defined quarters that made up other rooms, where they would’ve had to fight and defend with little space. [say]“Hard to shake the dread once you have experienced it. But some parts had empty pieces. You could see where they had been putting things aside.”[/say] For later, perhaps, had they stayed – like the wretched proportions of their own god. He wouldn’t be putting it at the top of his list again.

The subject matter alteration still left him feeling ridiculous – it should’ve been something he’d suggested for the Raeling from the very beginning. [say]“Certainly. We have many options.”[/say] An armory laden area, as it were. [say]“Let me know when you want to drop by and we can go through it.”[/say] But then he nodded at the gratitude, more than willing to offer those parameters time and time again.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 09-18-2025

[say]"Ah, right,"[/say] Amhran says with a furrowed brow, drumming long fingers against the table and shifting to sit cross-legged in his chair (no easy feat given how long his legs are). [say]"Perhaps I should plant some of Rae's Lilies there next year. Maybe it will encourage the place to settle, and in time it might grow to be like something from our world, instead of being so other."[/say] He imagines that might happen regardless as the seasons pass and they gain more distance from the Family and their time in Caido, but a little helping hand never hurt.

Wrapping his hands back around his cocoa, Amhran surprises himself with the enthusiasm with which he nods to Deimos, feeling more inclined than he ever has to visit the barracks and learn from those who train there. [say]"I will,"[/say] he promises. [say]"Though I hope you won't think less of me if I decide to wait until it isn't quite so..."[/say] He gestures to the steady snowfall and truly bitter cold outside.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-18-2025

His eyes went downcast towards the table resin, thoughts mulling as he sipped away at the hot cocoa. He hadn’t considered those parameters – but given the Rae’s Lilies and Vi’s Roses were no longer being stockpiled to fight onslaught and disease, why not place them amidst Starfall, simply to see if it aided in removing the rest of the toxins of that other-world? [say]“That is a clever thought.” [/say]And while it might be odd to consider the looming piece of lavender protrusion just another floating isle in the future, perhaps it was better off being altered, morphed, and changed into Caido livelihood. [say]“Can see what happens in between now and then.”[/say] And if there weren’t any other looming threats along the way, then maybe it’d be a reputable area to absorb the healing prowess.

Snorting at the notions of waiting until the season passed before coming to the barracks, Deimos shrugged. [say]“We have plenty of braziers throughout to keep the place warm.”[/say] Ish. At which he arched a brow, but permitted the demigod his excuse; it was successful enough to have him even think about participating within the confines. [say]“And not too far away from the hot springs.” [/say]

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 09-19-2025

Smiling at what he perceives as quite the compliment coming from Deimos - Amhran does not consider himself all that clever, and his common sense is still catching up with itself - the Raeling nods his agreement. [say]"Mm, who knows what will happen during now and then,"[/say] he echoes. [say]"As I get stronger, maybe I will be able to produce more flowers per year. I could cultivate a garden of them on Starfall."[/say] Even if it didn't change the isle at all, it might at least provide a stockpile of the purifying flowers, in case they were ever needed again.

Swirling the hot chocolate in his mug and taking another decadent sip of it, he smiles over the rim at Deimos, understanding the persuasion in his tone even without it being overt. [say]"Then I will see if I can venture out this season,"[/say] he concedes. [say]"But if it does get too cold, I am coming straight home."[/say] Chuckling, he sets his mug down again. [say]"Speaking of the hotsprings, I've also been learning to swim."[/say]

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-20-2025

Deimos smiled over the rim of his mug, briefly amused at the thought of a cluster of lilies absorbing the intricacies of Starfall, remaining potent and powerful against something that could’ve cost them many, many lives. Perhaps hallmarks of resistance and finality, or just a fitting image of a world not quite befit to their own, heels dug in where others might not have done the same. [say]“That would be quite an image,”[/say] and with the wrinkle to his nose, he granted juvenile approval.

Amhran’s acceptance of the possibility of striving towards the barracks this season was enough, and he withheld his snort. [say]“Of course.”[/say] But his head tilted at the semblances and notions of further learning and skills – unaware Amhran had even wanted to commit to swimming. [say]“One of my favorite things. Where did you start?”[/say] Certainly not in Halo – unless it was in the hot springs themselves – their waters weren’t half as welcoming as many others (or even the least bit inviting; the cold had a certain promise of hypothermia to it).

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 09-22-2025

Shuffling about in his seat until he can sit cross-legged and comfortable (however awkwardly, given how gangly an individual he is), Amhran wraps his hands back around his mug of cocoa and smiles as well at the image Deimos suggests. A garden of Rae's Lilies in any setting is quite the comforting idea, but especially in a place like Starfall, and he lets out a soft sigh and lets it settle in his mind's eye.

With the barracks more or less settled - and he will do his best to get out there and visit them, even if it's to retreat instantly back into the safety and warmth of the house - he's happy to let the subject settle on something else. Namely, swimming. [say]"Oh, really?"[/say] He doesn't mean to sound surprised that Deimos considers it one of his favourite things; it's only because, as the Sword has just internally surmised as well, it isn't as if Halo is a very swim-friendly region.

[say]"I went up to Frey's Breath in The Climb,"[/say] he explains. [say]"I don't think that is much better though, honestly - it was hard to keep catching my breath when the air was so hot. Maybe I will wait until Flowerbirth and travel down to Torchline for some more practice."[/say]

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-22-2025

The surprise made him wince inwardly; maybe because he hadn’t shared much of himself with the Raeling, or been far too preoccupied with everything else that the most minute details never got quite past thoughts or happenstances. Taking another sip and leaning further back in his chair, he granted a nod. [say]“Yes. I was born beside the ocean, in another world,”[/say] to which he wrinkled his nose, waiting for the inevitable bout of Outlander portions. Isilme itself, and especially the Moonlit Tides, had been a tough place to grow for anyone; but it’d been the first test of survival on a long, unwinding road of trials and circumstances. [say]“We were taught to swim at a young age.”[/say] Or risk simply not surviving. [say]“So I take the opportunities to enjoy it when I can.” [/say]

His head tilted briefly at the summation of his experience in Frey’s Breath – tucking away the amusements pervading (for that had been where he’d taught Evie – though inevitably that might’ve been a stretch once they distracted one another with other things). [say]“Let me know if you want more help then. There are some shallow areas without a harsh tide in some parts. Or you could try the Greatwood.”[/say] Where the river pooled in smaller refrains; not so harsh and fast.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 09-26-2025

[say]"Oh, that's amazing,"[/say] Amhran gushes, predictably enamored with the idea of other worlds and all that might entail. [say]"Do you miss it? That other world, I mean? Or even just being able to swim so freely?"[/say] He knows it's a lot of questions all of a sudden, opting to silence himself with a long swig of cocoa, smiling bashfully across at Deimos upon lowering his mug. [say]"I always thought I was chosen to grow up here for a reason, you know,"[/say] he admits.

He nods immediately at the offer for further help, especially given this new knowledge about the Sword. [say]"That sounds likea good idea. And I didn't even consider the Greatwood - though I think it's at risk of flooding a bit during Flowerbirth."[/say] Amhran laughs under his breath. [say]"I suppose you could say it's just more opportunity to learn that way, though."[/say]

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-27-2025

Rather than any somber situation, Amhran simply seemed enthralled by the notion, and he withheld a snort again, opting to take another sip, and then upon realizing the heat had diminished, added a little more via fire and water incantations – until it was steaming once more. The question didn’t bother him as much as it might have years ago – but there would always be those ghosts in the corners of his eyes or the pockets of his mind that held multiple lives worth of memories.[say] “Some days.”[/say] Maybe it was less daunting to know there was nothing to return to – Helovia wholly destroyed, Isilme long gone. [say]“But I have more that I am close to now, and I think that makes it a little easier. And there are many swimming options across multiple lands,”[/say] he mused, yielding those concerns away.

Though the admittance on the demigod’s end had his brow arching – having wondered the same thing before. If Rae had thought they needed more life to be breathed and forged in this world, or if they required a little more nurturing than most. Taking another sip, he let that moment meander, before tucking a small smile in the corner of his mouth, pondering over the youth’s own speculative ends. [say]“What reason would that be?”[/say]

Given who Deimos was though, the bother with flooding didn’t reach his sentiments, used to utilizing his elemental incantations for a variety of purposes. [say]“If it is too terrible, I can always use my water magic.”[/say] To make portions shallower, to make it recede, even if it wasn’t a wholly large range in comparison to rivers and streams, thirty feet could certainly be utilized for swimming and education.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 09-28-2025

Nodding slowly - because Amhran has only ever known Halo as his foundation of the world, the cradle into which he had been born - and trying hard to imagine what it would be like to have home so far away, the Raeling smiles across at Deimos again. [say]"I'm glad - for both things,"[/say] he says through a soft chuckle. [say]"We've only ever been away from here a few times for more than a day or so, and I always miss it. I can't imagine what it would be like to be homesick for a place you can't go back to. So it's good that you have things to make it easier."[/say]

Propping an elbow on the table and resting his chin in his palm, Amhran swirls the last of his cocoa in the bottom of his mug, not trying to hide the way the treat has made him yearn for an afternoon nap - one of his favourite pastimes, in fact. [say]"Mm? Well,"[/say] he says, pursing his lips as he thinks, [say]"I remember it was right when the void infection was starting to take hold in some regions, right? I feel like showing that something of Rae's could flourish even in the most harsh of terrains... it gives people hope, you know?"[/say] Or something like that.

Frowing a bit, unsure that his phrasing has been correct, Amhran is at least easily distracted by their swimming plans. [say]"Ah, of course,"[/say] he says with a nod. [say]"It's a plan, then. Hopefully I'll be properly swimming by next Longheat."[/say]

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 09-29-2025

The following statement made his gaze drop to the table, uncertain over all the other emotions it stirred. Rather than placate the fringes curling in on themselves, he gave a short smile, a nod of his head in understanding, going the self-deprecating route instead. [say]“So you see why I rarely leave,”[/say] he winked, knowing there were fundamentals to that answer that laid beyond the simplistic. It had happened often in the past seasons, but that had been due to the political strife and the looming war – striking out of his home on multiple occasions simply so he could strive to protect the whole of Caido again. Picking his way out of that muddle too, he wrinkled his nose, juvenile once more. [say]“I think it is good to explore though, and see more of the world. You would enjoy the Oerwoud.”[/say]

Deimos eyed the remaining portions of his cocoa as well, though he pondered whether he should be fetching more or gathering himself for another busy afternoon. But Amhran’s answer left him intrigued, as they’d had similar notions, head tilting vaguely as he listened. [say]“Perhaps,”[/say] he mused. [say]“Hope is sometimes hard to find. But I am glad Rae deigned to share you with us.”[/say] And at least the demigod was an example of those exact platitudes – never quite devolving into the despair or trepidation hovering on the sidelines of their latest agonizing haze.

As for swimming, he grinned again. [say]“A good goal.”[/say] He could always take Erebos too – train the youth out of floaties.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Amhran - 10-05-2025

[say]"Mm, I certainly can,"[/say] Amhran agrees with a grin, though he tilts his head at the mention of the Oerwoud, mentally adding it to his list of places to visit when he next decides to venture out of Halo. His smile softens as he gazes down into his mug, the Raeling lifting it to drain it of the last of the cocoa, content as he sets it back down. [say]"Thank you. I'm glad too,"[/say] he says. [say]"I don't know what I'd have been like if I had started life in Torchline, or The Climb."[/say]

Probably a lot more suited to the heat - and maybe already able to swim - but he can't say he'd prefer it over here. [say]"Thanks for letting me join in with the cocoa. I think it has made me sleepy, though, so I might go and lay down for a bit."[/say] Grinning sheepishly - he knows Deimos's afternoon likely involves a packed agenda - he's nevertheless glad to have been able to take the time to sit and take a break.

Rising to his feet from the table, Amhran heads to the sink to wash out his mug, snagging another couple of marshmallows while he's at it.

RE: de-cocoa-mpress - Deimos - 10-06-2025

With the sentiments cast, he gave a short nod, granting another snort at the implications of the heavy, rich cocoa sending Amhran to a nap. Unbothered, and perhaps that said much about his diet, the Sword rose from his seat, polishing off his mug as well. [say]“Sounds like a good plan.”[/say] He had multitudes to take care of thereafter, but the break had been nice – and it’d likely be wise to snag at Erebos too, to ensure some bedtimes weren’t significantly and wholly altered for the evening (and thus turning the rest of the household over). [say]“Thank you for trying it,”[/say] he winked, snagging a few marshmallows for himself after putting his own cup away, and venturing towards the toddler’s room, mind already filled with what else needed to be completed for the day.
