RE: Turn your neon on - Nova - 10-21-2025

Having been very sincere (and not at all sarcastic) about her compliment, Nova is taken aback by the man's offense, her eyes sparkling with hurt feelings, the carefree smile falling from her face like a shattering of glass. [say]"But I do think you're tall."[/say] She doesn't reach for the margarita when the bartender sets them down, her shoulders slumping as the mood becomes heavy, a small pout forming on her glossy lips.

The blue of her eyes glistens, swimming with the pain of being misunderstood - and unbearably beautiful and talented. Although she's very happy with herself, Nova's sad to think the man isn't, genuinely jealous of the slight vertical advantage he has, and when she looks up at him, there's a gleam of that desire amidst her wounded emotions. [say]"I wish I was tall like you. At least you can see farther and reach higher..."[/say] Even if it's not 'tall' in most people's books, it's tall enough to count for her and she lowers her gaze, shifting her feet in a movement that's almost timid. Her voice softens, mourning her own dreams that may never be fulfilled. [say]"It'd be nice, if only I could feel it for a moment..."[/say]

RE: Turn your neon on - Colt - 10-21-2025

Colt's delight is brief, because the man does seem to seriously consider her offer. Though his far too-big grin remains, and she's about to find out why, and with it all her hopes will be dashed. He pivots in his seat, swinging around two thighs that are missing everything past the knee. She can't hide the crestfallen look that responds on her face, nor is she particularly inclined to. [say]"I'll take that as a no to the shoe swap,"[/say] she sighs, slipping out of her seat with a dramatic stomp back upright, although it's partly because she stood up too fast and everything's a little topsy turvy. Before picking a new victim shoe display, one she'll be sure to check on first, she swings her gaze around to see if she even has any time left.

Her answer will be a swiftly decided no, because Caly's charm has worked its magic on her slender beau. He might not look the type, but not all farm boys do, and he's more than happy to show her that he's got her tickets to the gun show. It starts as a subtle flex, visible tone swapping to a ripple of muscle. Someone else watching this exchange jeers from the side that he can't manage a push up, to which the lanky lad scoffs and proves wrong. He drops to the ground and does a few swiftly back to back as evidence.

It's the only sign Colt needs to grab another shot of tequila, defeat clear, though Nova is a close runner-up. Her attempts at placating and fawning over the little man's height are a balm over the needlework of his assumptions and dynamite ego. She seems genuinely hurt enough by his response after all, and she's excellent at complimenting, to which he returns the favor in a litany of ways she sparkles for him. Emboldened by the shy and withdrawn turn, he reaches out, certain there's a connection, to sweep her up in his arms. He holds her up and outright, like one might a feral cat, clearly unaccustomed to picking anyone up - he's normally on the receiving end. Certain he's done well though, he leans in for a kiss.

RE: Turn your neon on - Calypso - 10-22-2025

Eager to see just what the slender man might do next, she finds herself casting a glance back at the others around her that jeer at him, pulling her attention away from where the stranger tries (and succeeds) to show off. Soft oohs and aaahs pass her lips, until the man’s slipping off the bar stool to prove to everyone that he can, indeed, do a push up.

And not just one, but multiple.

She giggles her delight, leaning back in the stool with clear surprise that flickers across her face. She takes the moment to see if anyone else has been successful, just in time to realize she likely won. So she snags the man’s drink and downs the rest of it, flashing him a wink when he straightens back up. Tugging on his hand to pull him close, she offers a whiskey sour laced kiss for all the trouble before she’s slipping off the stool. “[say]Thanks for the fun, Romeo.[/say]” She purrs, releasing him just in time to see her sister get picked up by a stranger who’s aiming for a kiss, immediately on alert.

RE: Turn your neon on - Nova - 10-25-2025

She hadn't been fishing for compliments, but she certainly catches them and she's not the kind to let them swim by. They bolster her mood, a small giggle flowing as another glowing comment about her sparkle settles in her ears. She begins to hope that they might get her closer to victory, but the giggle turns into a sharp squeal as he's lifting her. The motion is awkward and startling enough that she's torn between laughing and clawing out of the fingers digging into her armpits. It turns into an uncomfortable wiggle in his grasp, accompanied by another chiming giggle at the absurdity of it all - especially as she scans the room from her new vantage point.

Then he's pulling her closer - that is, he's moving her face closer to his.

There aren't many reasons he might do that, and she wonders naively if he might be trying to kiss her. For the briefest of moments, she considers letting him for the fun of it, after all, her only experience has been a drunk, drug-induced kiss with a silly Dragoon. But looking down at his tilting chin and puckered lips isn't anything that gets her heart racing; in fact, she has to hide the bit of a grimace, gently placing her hand over his lips to intercept them. The disgust is hidden expertly behind a very glittery smile, so sweet and dazzling that she hoped it might distract him from the offense.

[say]"Thanks for letting me see, but I guess height isn't all it's stacked up to be. I'll stick to being short."[/say] The giggle she offers is light and playful, her hand quickly moving to tap his arm like she's giving him permission to put her down now.

RE: Turn your neon on - Colt - 10-25-2025

Tipping back her drink, her consolation prize, Colt heads over to collect Caly. [say]"Winner, winner,"[/say] she croons as she loops through Caly's arm with her own, tugging her along and away from the man who's looking to chase the kiss with more. [say]"First place and a kiss from someone not terrible looking, some people get all the luck,"[/say] she teases. Their route is straight towards Nova, who's got a nice handle on her eager beau. Though he does release Nova back to her feet, a rising bluster is mounting, the short man a bit prone to temper tantrums. Colt takes Nova's arm in her other one, breezing past the little grump with a wink. [say]"Sorry honey, you must be this tall to ride."[/say] Her fingers wiggle out just a hair above his height.

She doesn't stop for the sightseeing tour of broken hearts the Marins left behind, instead she directs them back towards the door. [say]"Caly won I'm afraid,"[/say] Colt laments to Nova as she tilts her head towards the glittering girl. [say]"You got second though, so after Caly gets a turn with the prize, it's all you."[/say] Colt herself would take part too, but first, the grand reveal.

The cold of the Deepfrost night air will greet them the moment they pass the threshold of the front doors, and it's a sobering snap at the buzz she just fed, though not enough to truly take off all the blurring edges. [say]"In the left side of the saddle bag, is your prize sugar."[/say] Caly will find a carton of eggs, and the House of Midnight ready for some target practice.

RE: Turn your neon on - Calypso - 10-28-2025

The on edge anxiety that spikes through Caly is easily sated by Colt’s arrival, dragging her away toward Nova to collect her sister with very little issue. And all she can do is giggle as the result of her winning is announced, playfully offering a little bow before standing back upright and running her hands through her blonde hair.

Back out into the cold as they are, she buries her hands into her pockets as she listens to the accepted’s instructions. Glancing toward Nova with her bright smile, the attuned gingerly bounds through the snow toward the saddle in question, reaching into the bag to find… eggs?

Alcohol blooms bright in the flush of her face as her confusion sparkles on the fringes of her mind until she plucks two of them up, looking back towards Colt and her sister and the House of Midnight. And that’s when it hits her and she giggles. “[say]Amazing.[/say]” Handing one egg to Nova before she launches one at the brothel, watching as it splatters against the dark painted panels by the entrance.

RE: Turn your neon on - Nova - 10-28-2025

Colt comes trotting in like a gilded savior, all winks and easy confidence that sweep her free of consequences. The bright mood returns, and Nova downs the margarita as she passes, offering the man a consolation prize of a kiss she blows his direction. Then she's all smiles and giggles again, trapsing out to the snow just as the alcohol's kicking in.

'Second place' doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but she's happy to give the podium to her sister for a change, sharing in the victory. She follows at a skip, peeking over Caly's shoulder to see what the prize is, and looking very confused when it's... eggs? Are they planning to make breakfast? In the snow?

It only starts to click when Caly is looking to the House of Midnight, mischief gleaming in her eyes. It's infectious, an evil little giggle wisping out in puffs of white clouds when she takes the egg from her sister. She waits only long enough for the first one to splatter against the building, then she's launching hers through the air, finding almost as much joy as when they'd thrown the molotovs only weeks before. [say]"Get the windows!"[/say] she shouts, snagging another egg from her sister and passing it to Colt.

RE: Turn your neon on - Colt - 10-28-2025

A flush of delight races up Colt's throat as a wild laugh as confusion breaks into eager chaos and schemes. It colors her cheeks with the force of it, and she bends over her knees in pursuit of breath as the first egg splinters across the building in a disgusting mess. She laughs so hard it turns into a hiccup, which she tries to bite back as she rises back to full height, though unsuccessfully. Ordinarily, some stealth might be wise when committing vandalism, but liquor keeps them all as light and giddy as bubbles, and their get away vehicles are close by at least.

[say]"I'—m hiccup aiming for th—e hiccup doorknob!"[/say] she cheerfully announces as she claims the egg Nova relinquishes to her. One eye squints, a crooked affair, as she attempts to line up her shot and fires the fragile ammunition. Shell shrapnel flies everywhere as the creamy wash of the egg detonates along the porch, nowhere near the doorknob. Colt cheers all the same, a hiccup breaking the celebration into a giggle.

Still, she leans back onto her heels, hands on her hips as she observes a plan well executed.

RE: Turn your neon on - Sunjata - 10-31-2025

Luckily for him – and unluckily for them – Sunjata is actually in the House of Midnight tonight. Such that when the shouts start pouring through of a sound hitting the outside of the entrance and windows of the House of Midnight, Sunjata beelines precisely for it. Bending his way through the crowds, he erupts at the entrance, swinging the door open wide precisely in time to miss the next egg as it comes sailing through.

He steps through, aiming toward the gaggle of women by horses whom he assumes to be the offenders – spying Colt amongst them and opts for fear over any actual retaliation. The door stays open, Sunjata drifts through it with an immediate transition from man to hydra. It seems like the best option. Three offenders to the three draconic heads that pinpoint each one of the girls with a rumbling roar, a reptilian get the fuck out of here.

RE: Turn your neon on - Calypso - 10-31-2025

Laughing brightly alongside Colt and her sister as the eggs shatter and coat the dark exterior of the building in yolk that’ll be such a pain in the ass to clean, she snags another egg and begins to launch it – precisely at the time the door swings open. It sails past the man that steps out, crashing inside the House of Midnight to an eruption of a squeal as the man becomes a large beast with multiple heads.

She is scared, admittedly, but he doesn’t advance and she plays it off well despite her heart thundering in her ears. She laughs boldly, chirping a little “[say]yeah, yeah, alright![/say]” before she’s looking back at Colt and retreating to the horses for their grand escape, not worried in the slightest that the hydra might pursue them.

RE: Turn your neon on - Nova - 11-09-2025

Giggling at Colt's terrible aim, Nova grabs another egg and launches it as she shouts back, [say]"Try harder!"[/say] Admittedly, her own doesn't fair much better, landing on the steps rather than the open window up top. But perhaps that's for the best, because they're suddenly staring down a man who isn't just a man, but a three headed beast

Nova freezes, eyes widening as she wonders if she'd suddenly taken drugs without remembering. Regardless, she's elated by this new revelation, bouncing haphazardly as her face breaks out in an even wider grin. [say]"SOOOOOO COOL!!"[/say] The roar is an obvious warning that Caly seems to understand, even as Nova seems more focused on trying to figure out which set of eyes to meet. A million questions come to mind: What is it? Who is it? Are they three different thoughts and personalities communicating? Do they get along? What if one of them eats something gross? Do they all taste it?

Enthralled by her novel of questions, she's momentarily forgotten about the eggs, hopping on the balls of her feet and taking in the creature without an ounce - or healthier helping - of fear.

RE: Turn your neon on - Colt - 11-09-2025

Her laughter and hiccups draw to an abrupt halt as the door swings open and Sunjata appears briefly. Oh shit is already running through her mind before a hydra of all things appears in place of the demi god, which transfers her oh shit to her horse. Beans, best boy that he is, doesn't bat much of an eye and Colt grabs for his lead to undo him while he mount sets back and flings its head around.

The chaos sobers her mildly, her hands fumbling more than they would ordinarily still as she undoes Beans for the two Marins, but she's moving with purpose all the same. Getting them gone would be her priority here, not least of which is because Vesper would have more than words with her if they came to harm under her watch. She doesn't need fresh tensions rising between the new arrivals and Sunjata, nevermind the Safrin bloodlines adding to the mix, all grand things she should have considered ahead of time but in her defense your honor, she didn't think they'd get caught. [say]"Get on the fucking horse!"[/say] she barks at them both, chalking up their complete disregard of the angry hydra to being stupidly drunk off their asses. A little preservation right about now would be helpful though. [say]"Stay on and he'll take you home,"[/say] she tells them simply, holding Beans steady so they can climb aboard.

Under her breath, she uses the last ace she has up her sleeve tonight and begins to channel. [say]"Mel, distract him so we can get the fuck out!"[/say]

Colt channels Melita, 2/2 Deepfrost 319 channels

RE: Turn your neon on - Melita - 11-09-2025

Going from having never been channeled, to three times in quick successions, would undoubtedly be something the Honeybee would have to deal with later on. As she was yanked and yoinked from her meal though, bread still partially stuffed in her mouth as she was suddenly in the midst of Meadowreach, she blinked, trying to make heads or tails of the situation.

Like her uncle nearby. Colt shouting a direction. Calypso and Nova over there.

That it was against Sunjata in his hydra-form was strange, but that’d be a future discussion. Trying to talk around the morsel, the response sounded muffled and bizarre. [say]“Hfere ‘oes!” [/say]But she kept her word – because the wild magic didn’t grant her a nap or turn her into a frog.

Instead, she dumped a multitude of brightly colored rubber ducks, of various sizes (from humongous to very tiny and pocket-wielding) and shapes, directly upon Sunjata. Then, with a wave and a wink and another bite of food, she was gone.

--

[say]Melita has used her wild magic and rolled a one, dumping them near/upon Sunjata in the process:

1. A rain of rubber ducks falls around Melita in a 30ft radius [/say]

RE: Turn your neon on - Sunjata - 11-10-2025

Luckily, the Flood isn’t really in the business of enacting revenge. Not as he takes in the fact that it was just an egging and who was the one that had appeared to run the event. He’s instead focusing on the act of warding away – looking threatening enough that it might be perfect to get them to leave.

It seems to backfire a little, one of the hydra’s heads watching Caly as she makes her escape, the second head focusing on Nova’s clear excitement and not fear which is admittedly a little disappointing, and the third that focuses on Colt as she yells at them all to get on the horse.

Oh, and the Colt’s channeling. Snorting slightly – which sounds like three different snarls from each of the hydra’s heads – he watches as his niece appears and dumps all manners of squeaky ducks atop his head and all across the porch of the Hosue of Midnight – left snarling a more playful roar toward the girls and the honeybee before she vanishes again.
