RE: antler-taining the thought - Amhran - 11-24-2025 [say]"I can take the sled,"[/say] Amhran offers immediately; given his enjoyment of song and animals, it's hardly a surprise for him to volunteer for such a task. He's just accepting the rope from Deimos when he realises one of the younger deer has bolted, and he's half turning in his saddle when the Sword calls Noah down from the skies above. Tilting his head up for just long enough to catch sight of the Attuned, it's only then that he remembers himself and nods to the others. [say]"Okay, let's go,"[/say] he agrees, urging his well-mannered gelding forward and keeping the rope in one hand so he can drag the sled of goodies along behind them. Once he thinks he's gotten a good few paces ahead, his voice lilts up again to entice the luxere to follow; mellow and soft but strong enough to carry across the herd of glowing antlers and nervous hoofsteps, hopefully it will be enough. Amhran takes the rope for the sled of treats to lead the luxere further onwards! RE: antler-taining the thought - Marcus - 11-24-2025 Marcus knew that one wrong move could set off the rest of the herd. So he, knowing it was for the best in this situation, followed the instructions and orders rather than trying to come up with another plan. He angled his horse toward the flank, working in quiet rhythm with the others to hold the line Deimos had called for. The hybrid breathed out slowly, the air sharp in his lungs from Halo’s biting cold. Together, they’d keep the herd whole—once his father was able to bring the rogue back into alignment. Marcus focused on keeping his horse steady and on track, trying to make sure he didn’t apply any undue pressure like the Sentinel instructed. His cerulean eyes flicked to Deimos, the herd, the other Halovians helping, anticipating what was to come next. Marcus helps with command #2! RE: antler-taining the thought - Deimos - 11-24-2025 Despite the calm at the front, led by Amhran and followed by Marcus and some of the team respectively, the back portions held the most ambiguity. Deimos held his ground, notched between portions of the herd, not used to having to take somewhat of a backseat – but watched as Noah began his orchestrations, using himself and Zuriel as portions of the blockade; willing composure into the edges of the nervous, fractious denizen. The does wielded to the Attuned’s command; adhering, flanking, trying to steer the younger one back into the group. It balked initially, frightened eyes turning every which way, looking for some kind of opening, a venue of escape, but between the commands and pressure, it could only yield. But not without fluster and bluster. With no composure, it launched into the middle of the herd, stirring the placid, peaceful, and sedate crowd. It held another ripple effect, with the prior stolid figures beginning to turn their heads, eyes growing restless. Deimos closed the far end with the rest, but sighed, wondering if they were about to head into the Hollowed Forest with this many easily provoked creatures. [say]“Be careful up your way,”[/say] he rumbled into the hum, trying to make the stanzas seem as though they were part of the song, towards Marcus and Amhran. [say]“Some are getting rattled.”[/say] -- [say]The younger luxere has rejoined the herd, but certainly isn’t helping keep things calm. Keep heading towards the Hollowed Forest and find a way to keep the herd relaxed![/say] RE: antler-taining the thought - Noah - 11-25-2025 Knowing he could always shift to keep up with the rest of the group if needed, the Sentinel was not bothered by lack of a mount even as others pressed in on his sidees. Noah kept to the rear of the moving herd, deliberating the pace the He knew what he could do. He reached inward, then outward, opening the quiet, steady pulse of his compel. He breathed steadily, letting the call drift toward the oldest-looking does whose antlers glowed with the soft, seasoned light of years lived. Noah slipped into the rhythym of their heartbeats, weaving reassurance through their instincts. Noah uses compel to try and ease the minds of the oldest looking does to hopefully use the power of the herd structure to keep everyone going, stays behind the herd and tries to not put too much pressure on them. Can compel like-minded animals for assistance (1 large, 3 medium, 5 small, from the same animal family) RE: antler-taining the thought - Marcus - 11-25-2025 Marcus kept his mount precisely where he needed to be. He was close enough to hold the line, far enough not to crowd the glowing shapes drifting behind Amhran. The cold gnawed at his fingers, but it was the tightening in his chest that bothered him more. The herd felt taut as a bowstring, every flick of an ear or stumble in the snow sending a jolt of nerves through him. If they spooked they’d scatter into the white and all of this would fall apart. He felt a knot tighten in his belly. Quietly at first, he let a song rise. It was nothing truly beautiful, having a lack of natural talent and no formal training, but it was something. Something to ease him, and hopefully the herd. He kept moving on his formation with the other Halovians as he sang, eyes moving from the flighty herd, to Deimos, back to his father, then forward to the Raeling. Marcus kept singing. Marcus holds formation and sings! RE: antler-taining the thought - Amhran - 11-25-2025 Hearing something of the ruckus from the back of the herd followed by Deimos's call and Marcus's rising voice, Amhran is able to shift enough in his saddle to gaze over his shoulder to see what's happening. Of course, he's nowhere near the rear and so has very limited visibility of the spooky young luxere - but the nearby deer seem to be happy enough, and so he keeps his focus right there in the hope that they'll hold calm and steady and keep the rest moving. Letting his voice join in with Marcus's in harmony, he flashes a smile towards the other young man and reaches into a saddlebag to withdraw a few carrots, offering them out to the closest luxere just in case the sled of goodies isn't quite doing its job. He's more than happy to share them out among the herd too if they approach, all the while keeping a good pace towards the Hollow Forest. Amhran also sings and offers snackies to the nearby luxere! RE: antler-taining the thought - Deimos - 11-25-2025 A combination of efforts coordinated within their team made for effective work. While Noah compelled, trying to ease the minds of the animals, Deimos spread his Attuned filaments across the expanse; calm, composed, platitudes and waves of serenity that didn’t quite reach his own measures, but he could certainly unfurl the pretenses. Marcus and Amhran ‘s efforts of assurance and youthful platitudes stroke a chord as well, and before long the formation seemed to settle, not unlike a long, deep breath, a singular sigh. [say]“Good work,”[/say] Deimos called ahead, watching as each luxere seemed to maneuver more into a peaceful existence; gentle, unbothered by the stretch now. Some nibbled at Amhran’s fingers for more carrots, others shared the portions of hay, and the ones in the back seemed to hasten forward, eased by the potential of roaming their way towards more food. Thus, the Raeling led the way, deeper into the cluster of the Hollowed Forest. -- [say]The luxere have been pacified and the journey will continue into the Hollow Forest!
